Prologue
☆Prologue☆ "Ok Tink, I'm not showing anyone on the south wall, are you done on your end?" the voice of her handler, Danni, chirped through her ear piece. Persimmon couldn't help but roll her eyes at the nickname her teammate insisted on calling her while on jobs; Tink... Short for Tinkerbell. It made little to no sense in her own personal opinion, but admittedly she often did not understand the sense of humor of humans; she humored her mortal friend nonetheless. Persi, as she was usually called in the common tongue of the mortal realm, was neither short, standing at 5'10" tall, nor was she naturally a blonde, and while she may have a bit of a temper she was certainly and most importantly not a pixie. Sure she had wings, but so did many creatures and it's not like Danni or any living soul in the mortal realm had ever actually seen them. There was little of her natural form that would pass for human; instead she used her innate magic to glamour herself into a visage more readily acceptable to the mortal realm. The glamour magic was especially useful in her line of work as she was able to adopt new disguises with little effort. Currently her hair appeared the color of cornsilk, what little flesh showed around her tactical suit was a deep golden tan and her eyes a piercing blue. She had gone with her usual work uniform as she called it for tonight's escapades. This was her usual go to appearance, for the longest time she had refused to go blond, never wanting to encourage Danni and her ridiculous nicknames but now it was more amusing to embrace it and it made her friend happy so why not. "Just tying up a loose end, I'll be over the wall in 3." She whispered barely audible save for the magic that powered the micro-mic stuck to her throat. She ran her fingers over the eyes of the unconscious guard that lay at her feet. Dark blackish shadows gathered around his lashes as she pushed her magic into his mind seeking the memory of their little scuffle that ended in his current predicament. She couldn't completely wipe the memory of herself from his mind, fae magic simply wasn't as strong in the mortal realm as it was in Faerie, nor was it infinite. This often forced her to limit her expenditure if she wanted to keep up her glamour and still have use of her shadows. So while she couldn't erase his memory she could at least alter little bits here and there. In this particular instance he would remember fighting and being knocked out by a large nondescript male instead of a fair haired female. Memory work was the most consuming of her gifts, the drain on her magic seeped into her bones as she stood leaving the guard to slumber. A lock of her hair fell into my face, tinted a inky violet. Her glamour was slipping, she wouldn't be able to hold it for much longer and still use her magic; it was time to go. Climbing onto the balcony's rail she gracefully vaulted across the empty air to the large oak landing silently amongst its branches. Quietly she traversed the limbs until she came in close enough proximity to the perimeter wall, a quick glance around showed no other pesky guards and she lept again, clearing the wall and landing like a shadow on the grass outside the residence. Her mission was accomplished as she quickly made her way from the area to the blacked out minivan parked a few blocks away in suburbia hell.
