chapter sixteen: The assassin

I woke up feeling very happy and excited. I worked tirelessly on the fields,I finished my work in the afternoon and then I decided to help flair sort the boxes in the storage.

"You are excited today". Emily said as she dropped the box lazily on the floor.

"I am always happy".I said she was a kill joy, i wasn't going to let her spoil my mood.

"Thank goodness you are so agile, I am even surprised at your strength at times but you are stupid."she said as she opened the box.

"I will take that as a compliment but I must say you are a sadist".I said.

"Not everyone is happy to be in this hell,If you are happy good for you".she said bitterly.

"Must I be sad for the rest of my life at least take a break and smile your face is too serious".I said

"As I said you are stupid, something bad happened and you are happy".she said glaring at me.

"It's for the best".I said,I can't believe that she is sad for lady marie.

"You are so disgusting,I can't believe this so you are happy that zionita is dead you know what I am out,I can't stand you".she said angrily and left.

I couldn't believe my ears, how did zionita die, lady Marie must have killed her,she was young and innocent she didn't deserve to die.

Now everyone gathered at the sitting room after lunch,they were all tensed except from lady marie.

"Look zioni....."

"Lady marie,why did you kill her she didn't deserve this". thaniel said in disbelief with his head down he couldn't bear to look at his mother.

"how dare you cut mother off like that".brandon said.

"Mother how could you do this it's wrong, what do we tell her parents".ellis said.

"what happened to my daughter".lady belle said as she entered with her husband.

"calm down". Lady martha said.

"Where is my daughter".lady belle yelled.

"You will not scream in my house,I won't have it".lady marie said as she stood up.

"You must mad,I will not only scream but I will set this place on fire if you don't bring my daughter".lady belle said angrily.

"How dare you".lady Marie said she wanted to slap her but she held her hand.

"Where is my daughter".she said as she dropped her hand.

"She is dead". lady marie said and lady belle slapped her.

"You killed my daughter how could you". lady belle cried.

"Call the guards".brandon said Calmly.

"If you dare call them,I have my men outside they will set the house on fire".lady belle warned.

"You are sick the body guards have bombs with them.".lady Martha said as she peeped through the window.

"How dare you, you must think you are smart lord dayley you think that I don't know you are leading the rebels".Lady marie said.

"You will pay for killing my daughter,".lord dayley said as he pointed a gun at lady marie

"Please don't harm her"Brandon yelled.

"You cannot challenge me".lady marie said smiling as she sat down.

"let's go". lady belle said.

"We will surely seek our revenge watch your back marie".lord dayley said as he dropped the gun.

"Be careful". Lady marie said and they left.

I had resolved to kill lady Marie,I collected my bow and arrow from the room and hid it inside a box.

l distracted the guards at the back yard and went inside.

"What are you doing here". flair said she was surprised to see me she dragged me to the store room.

"let me go".I said.

"What are you doing here, it's too dangerous". flair whispered.

"I am going to kill her today,she killed zionita".I said angrily.

"You must be mad,look the security has tightened after what happened please go back". she said nervously.

"I can do this".I said.

"where is this kitchen servant".lady martha said as she entered the kitchen.

"keep quiet and hide,I will be back".she said as she a picked a bowl of rice.

"Why didn't you answer me quickly".lady martha said as she glared at her.

"My lady I was collecting rice,I didn't hear when you called" flair said anxiously.

"You are so stupid,I need ice tea".lady martha said.

"My lady....."

"I know, It's for lady marie get It ready soon two cups".lady martha said calmly and left.

"go back now". flair said as I came out.

"You can't stop me wish me luck".I said and I left.

I sneaked through the curtains,I was very careful because of the guards,I finally got to ladymarie's room.but they were two guards at the door. I threw a paper to distract them and then the door opened lady marie came out,I shot an arrow at her but she dogded. I was running behind the curtains, when the guards started to shoot at the curtains and the bullet hit my right leg. I quickly remembered I had a lighter,I lit the tip of my arrow and shot it at the chandelier. everywhere became smokey, I was already tired of running so I quickly entered a room and locked the door. It was thaniel's room,I was too nervous.

"What are you doing here".thaniel said in suprise as he stood up he was reading a book.

"I need to hide".I said weakly.then we heard the sound of an alarm.

"Don't tell me you were involved in this".he said in suprise.

"look I will explain everything to you hide me".I begged as I held my leg,It was hurting.

"hold on you are bleeding let me tie that".he said he collected a bandage and tied the leg.

"Ouch".I cried and then we heard a knock on the door.

"Open the door we need to search".the guards yelled.

"come with me".he said,I followed him he pushed the book shelf only for me to see a room.I entered inside and he closed it.

The guards searched and left, Now they all gathered at the sitting room after the search.

"Mother who could have done this to you". brandon said worriedly.

"The security is so tight there is no way an assassin can enter".draco said.

"Who would do this".Lady martha said calmly.

"It could be lord dayley and his wife ". Timothy said. lady marie glared at him.

"how did the assassin manage to escape because according to the guards he was shot, he couldn't have gone far".uncle Matthews said.

"We have searched everywhere but we could find him".dylan said in defeat.

"You are very incompetent,How do you explain this,if the assassin had carried out his mission,we could have been done for".brandon said

"but it didn't happen,first it happened yesterday and now today its becoming too frequent".draco said.

"Mother I advise you start making friends rather than enemies".ellis said.

"What do you mean by that ellis". lady martha said.

"she could have died today,she was just lucky i think she should reason with the Rebel's group".ellis said.

"You are very stupid we are not going to reason with them".brandon said angrily.

"Brandon stop shouting and then you ellis I would have punished you but I am not in the mood,I will kill all of them,I won't reason with them also if i find out that any one of you is hiding the assassin I won't spare you".lady marie said as she stood up.

"Mother let me walk you to your room". brandon said.

"I will walk by myself".lady Marie said and left.

"So much for being a favourite son".ellis said mockingly and they went back to their rooms.

I waited for thaniel to open the door because I was in so much pain. I waited for an hour

"you have lost alot of blood".he said as he opened it.

"I am in so much pain".I said weakly.

"Did you try to kill lady marie".he said as he knelt down beside me.

"yes".I said and I fainted.....
