Chapter Thirty-Five Delivery Bobby began to return from the place he’d gone a little at a time. In that last-ditch refuge there were no kaleidoscopic horrors whirling about, feeding off him and siphoning away his soul by increments he was powerless to prevent. There was no awareness of failure, or of the sorrow he was bequeathing those who deserved to know only joy and ecstasy forever. There was only the crucible, the blind raving excruciation that had claimed him for good at last. Tempered or tortured, he was being conducted through the portal to face an eternity of even worse.
