Maria's POV 6 years ago:- “Run…run…runn …move.. move..your legs Maria” I whispered to myself but my legs refused to move, the cold air making it more difficult to breathe, i could feel my heartbeat racing as the footsteps of those humanoid creatures grew closer to where I was hiding, I dreaded this feeling so much, the feeling of helplessness, I felt weak, my body felt heavy, I can't move- Why can't I move I need to leave this place For a brief second i could have sworn i felt a scorching gaze on me one that felt harmless —- “Начальник велел нам оживить её(boss told us to bring her alive)” I could hear them talking in a language I could not understand. I could feel them getting nearer and nearer, am I going to die, I could not help but shiver at the thought of dying- Light? I could see the light, I could not help but think maybe, just maybe I could escape Just when I thought I was reaching the source of light.. Huh- why is the light getting further and further Noooo why is the light leaving me Please someone should help me…please Blood..? Why is there blood on me….. Someone……. please…..anyone…. help ….. Come back- I felt my body lean backwards before I felt a stabbing pain at the back of my head, it hurts.. soo much .. “Found you!” The humanoid creature said as he held my hair up making me to look at his hideous face covered with glowing runes and antler-like horns, before pulling out a syringe containing a pale blue liquid and injecting me with it “It should start taking effect now” the humanoid creature said, before I felt this overwhelming pain come over me “hissss…cough..cough….”the pain was overwhelming, i feel like dying it hurts so much but I don't want to die…i really want to stay awake …but…it feels…like I'm losing consciousness “looks like she's out cold, we can take her to him now” Present:- “Gasp……huh..huh….” it was another nightmare … “You dreamt of it again?” I turned to look at where that voice was coming from and saw Sofia sitting on the sofa in my office, going through what looked like patient folders “Yea..” I replied slowly before quietly dapping my cold sweat with my hands “You were asleep when I got here. Those nightmare, it's becoming a steady occurrence” Sofia said with a deep frown while grabbing her iPad to probably look up my e-folder, after all apart from being my best friend she's also my personal psychiatrist “Should we hold another hypnosis session” Sofia asked with rare seriousness in her tune “No” I said while facing her “But, Ria-” I could hear the concern In her tune, but those sessions are causing more harm than good it keeps bringing those memories back “No.i’m becoming used to it” I replied and gave her a reassuring yet firm smile before standing up sluggishly to get a glass of water I could hear Sofia muttering about something – I stood before the dispenser lost in thought until a soft knock interrupted me “Knock Knock, Miss Cermen permission to come in” I could hear Leo's voice from behind the door “come in” I replied before going back to my desk chair “Speak “ I said to Leo who was making funny faces at his sister, Leo was Sofia's twin and my secretary. “The board members have arrived, Miss Cermen” Leo said while still sneaking a peck at Sofia, I always find the interaction between them cute and amusing and I could not help but give a little cough to get his attention “Tell them I'll be there in 5 minutes” “Yes ma'am” Leo said before leaving my office “… another meeting, another presentation, another day pretending everything is perfectly under control” I said to myself before standing up again and walking towards Sofia, ahhh she is so focused on her phone, I wonder what got her attention she's always on high alert, should I scare her a bit while contemplating on the thought of it Sofia suddenly screamed my name out of excitement “Maria!!!” well looks like I'll just drop that “Yes Sia” I said while sitting next to her “you look excited” “Is it that obvious” Sofia said sheepishly "Well….Andrew just asked me out” she said with an obvious blush on her cheek “Omg that's. ..nice …” I'm not a fan of Andrew I feel like he's up to no good but Sia sees him as the love of her life so I'll just go with the flow and I feel she could sense my dislike towards him “Ria I know you don't like him but please…..please… please” Sofia said with pleading eyes and I can't resist her “Okay fine . I exclaimed before picking up the black leather folder bearing an unfamiliar old seal that caught my attention, I can't remember owning something like this, that's strange I said while holding the folder, I'm already late for my meeting, but I really want to see what's inside it, looks important so i'll just keep it with the other things dad told me to safe keep, i said before dumping the file with the other useless ancient artifacts . I call them useless artifacts because these things are of no use, but no Dad won't let me breathe he's always worked up about them. Beep!
