AMARIS’S POV
“Vera asked me to do it. I couldn’t say no to her.”
“Really?” I sneered. “I bet you’d jump off a cliff if she asked you to.”
He gave me another infuriatingly bland look.
“I see you’ve got no plans to let this go anytime soon.”
“How perceptive of you.”
Zevran’s phone buzzed, interrupting the heated moment. He pulled it out of his pocket and answered.
“Yes? Okay. Thanks.”
He hung up and turned to face me. “Your clothes just arrived. I’m gonna go get them. While I’m gone, try to refrain from killing yourself.”
“Who needs suicide when I can merely reminisce on the fact that you’re a shady, two-faced jerk with no redeeming qualities?”
Zevran ignored me. I wasn’t surprised.
With that, he left.
His sudden absence left me feeling stupid for reacting so emotionally.
