Captain of the New York Blizzard. Billionaire. League MVP. The man every brand wants, every opponent fears, and every woman dreams of.

Cold. Ruthless. Unreachable.

After a devastating betrayal shattered his faith in love, Alexander built walls no one has ever managed to break.

Until her.

Elena Whitmore is one of the country's most sought-after sports physical therapists. Brilliant, fearless, and completely unimpressed by fame, she's assigned to oversee Alexander's recovery after an injury threatens the most important season of his career.

From the moment they meet, sparks fly.

She refuses to treat him like a celebrity.

He can't stand that she refuses to obey him.

What begins as a battle of wills soon turns into an irresistible attraction neither of them is prepared for.

But just as Alexander begins to lower his guard, secrets from the past resurface, jealous rivals close in, and the woman who once broke his heart returns with a claim that could destroy everything he and Elena are building.

Alexander has spent his entire life winning.

This time, the only prize that matters is the one woman he can't afford to lose.

Because when the Ice King falls...

He doesn't just love.

The Ice King Falls
The arena shook with the deafening roar of over twenty thousand fans. "BLACKWOOD! BLACKWOOD! BLACKWOOD!" The chant echoed through every corner of Madison Square Garden, drowning out even the blaring horns and pounding music. Blue and silver jerseys flooded the stands as rally towels spun wildly in the air. Every camera in the building was trained on one man. Alexander James Blackwood. Captain of the New York Blizzard. The highest-paid player in the National Hockey League. The face of professional hockey. THE ICE KING. Skating effortlessly across the rink, Alexander moved with the precision of a predator. His sharp blue eyes tracked the puck, calculating every angle, every opening, every mistake the opposing team made. To the crowd, he looked untouchable. To his teammates, he was the man who never cracked under pressure. To his opponents... He was the player they feared most. "Ladies and gentlemen," the commentator boomed, excitement spilling into every word, "we're in the final minute of regulation, tied at three goals apiece. If anyone can deliver under pressure, it's Alexander Blackwood!" The puck ricocheted off the boards. Alexander intercepted it cleanly. The crowd erupted. He accelerated, weaving through defenders with breathtaking speed. One opponent lunged for a check, but Alexander shifted his weight at the last second, gliding past him as though he wasn't even there. "Blackwood crosses center ice!" Another defender closed in. Alexander slipped the puck between the man's skates. Gasps rippled through the arena. "He split the defense!" The goal was within reach. The opposing goalie crouched lower, waiting. Alexander raised his stick. The entire arena seemed to hold its breath. He fired. The puck screamed across the ice. Clang! It slammed off the crossbar before bouncing high into the air. A collective groan echoed through the crowd. The rebound shot toward the corner. Alexander chased it without hesitation. So did Victor Larsen, the opposing team's six-foot-four defenseman. Neither man slowed. The collision was inevitable. CRASH! Alexander was driven violently into the boards. The impact reverberated through the arena. A sharp pain exploded through his left shoulder. For a split second, his vision blurred. His fingers tingled around his stick. The crowd fell eerily silent. "Captain!" one of his teammates shouted. Alexander gritted his teeth. Ignore it. He had taken harder hits before. Pain was part of hockey. He pushed himself off the boards. His shoulder protested immediately, but he forced it to cooperate. The referee glanced in his direction. Alexander nodded once. "I'm fine." The game continued. Back on the bench, Assistant Captain Noah Brooks frowned. "You sure?" Alexander pulled off one glove and flexed his fingers. The ache was deep now. Different. But there was less than a minute left. "I'm playing." Noah looked unconvinced. "Alex" "I'm playing." That was the end of the conversation. Coach Richard Hayes leaned closer. "If you can't move that arm..." "I said I'm fine." Coach Hayes knew better than to argue with his captain in the middle of a tied game. Thirty-eight seconds remained. Alexander stepped back onto the ice. The crowd exploded again. "BLACKWOOD!" "BLACKWOOD!" "BLACKWOOD!" The chant surged through him like adrenaline. Forget the pain. Forget the shoulder. Win the game. The face-off was won cleanly. The puck found Alexander almost instantly. He accelerated. Every stride sent another jolt through his shoulder, but he refused to acknowledge it. The net was open for half a heartbeat. That was all he needed. He wound up for his trademark slap shot. The moment his stick connected with the puck A blinding bolt of pain shot through his arm. His grip weakened. The puck still flew toward the net. The goalie blocked it. Rebound. Chaos erupted. Players crashed together in front of the crease. Someone tapped the loose puck home. GOAL! The red light flashed. The horn blared. The arena exploded. The New York Blizzard had won. Blue jerseys poured onto the ice in celebration. Alexander barely noticed. The cheers sounded distant now. His shoulder burned. His breathing became uneven. His vision blurred around the edges. Noah reached him first. "You okay?" Alexander forced a nod. "Yeah." It was a lie. The team gathered around him, lifting sticks into the air as confetti cannons erupted from above. Photographers rushed onto the ice. Microphones appeared. Fans screamed his name. No one noticed that Alexander couldn't lift his left arm. By the time they reached the locker room, the adrenaline had faded. The pain hadn't. He tried removing his jersey. His shoulder refused to cooperate. A sharp curse escaped his lips. The room fell quiet. Coach Hayes looked over. Alexander was pale. Far paler than he'd been just minutes earlier. The team physician hurried over. "Let me see." Alexander shook his head. "I'm fine." "You're not." The doctor gently examined his shoulder. Alexander hissed through clenched teeth. The room grew tense. "We're going to the hospital," the doctor said firmly. Alexander's jaw tightened. "No." "You don't have a choice." "I have practice tomorrow." "No," the doctor replied quietly. "You don't." Silence settled over the locker room. The celebration outside continued, blissfully unaware. Coach Hayes looked from Alexander to the doctor. "How bad?" The doctor didn't answer immediately. Instead, he met Alexander's eyes. For the first time that night... The Ice King looked uncertain. The doctor drew a slow breath. "We won't know for sure until the MRI." He paused. "But if this is what I think it is..." Alexander's stomach tightened. "...this may be the end of your career Captain."
