That entire week went by and a few days turned into almost am entire week without Lucas. We texted all week but he managed to call me and have a proper conversation on Thursday night. He said he might be home by next week Tuesday and there was a pinch in my heart when I realised I had to wait another five days to see him. Things at work have been much calmer, James decided to put whatever happened between him, myself and Jamie behind him and spoke to us on rare occasions. Jamie was back at work and Jake was happier than ever when she returned on Monday morning. Dean and Sadie have been slipping into on call rooms when they think nobody is watching and I just hope that neither of them manage to make a mess of things and have us sitting through another retreat.
"Jake and I are headed to The Saffron tonight. Who's down?" James asks and Jamie is the first one to raise her hand.
"I'm down." Dean says and Sadie gives him a look which he avoids completely.
"I'm working tomorrow, I'll pass." Sadie says, she had to take an extra shift with Peterson to log more hours with Neuro. Jake's eyes meet mine and I contemplate the choice.
I could sit at home and hope Lucas has enough time later on to call or I could go out with my friends and have a night out of fun on my Friday.
"Yeah, I'll come." I say and Dean wraps his arms around mine and Jamie's shoulders.
"Sounds like a good night ahead." He says with a smile and I don't miss the death glare Sadie throws in his direction.
"I'll have my driver fetch you guys." James says and Dean gives him a curious look. "He's my dad's driver. He'll fetch you guys at eight." We all nod in confirmation. Sadie slams her locker door shut and walks out of the residents room without saying a single word. Jamie gives me a wide eyed look and Dean completely ignores her.
"I'll be at Evans. Fetch me from there." Dean says and I give him a glare. He just wants to come over to drink our beer and watch sports on our HD T.V.
"Me too." Jamie says and Lawson gives us the thumbs up before walking out the room.
"So you two are just going to invite yourself over to my apartment like that?" I question with a glare and Jamie rolls her eyes.
"It will be easier and plus getting drunk and passing out at your place is like tradition." She says and Jake bids us goodbye as he leaves for the evening.
"It happened once." I reach for my bag in my locker.
"One time is all it takes." Dean says and Jamie let's out a laugh.
"See you i***t's later." I walk out the locker room and leave the two of them behind.
James texted and said he would come around at nine to fetch us. Its eight thirty, I've managed to straighten my hair and put on some light make up. I'm in the living room putting my watch on when there is a knock on the door and both Jamie and Dean push open the door and walk right in. "I have vodka." She yells as she flashes me the bottle of vodka. It's evident that she drank some before she got here because the bottle is not full to the top and she's yelling instead of talking.
She's wearing a pair of dark blue jeans and a black button up shirt with white stripes on them and a pair of knee high black boots with a thick heel. Dean walks in behind her with black jeans and a white t-shirt and black leather jacket. His hair is pushed back and his cologne is strong, even from that far away. Jamie pushes her curly brown hair back and opens the bottle before taking a sip straight out of it and Dean grabs it from her before she can take another sip. "Easy, save some for the rest of us." He snaps as he screws the cap back on and she takes a seat on the couch. "Why aren't you ready?" He questions as he closes the door behind him.
"You guys are early." I say. "Cups are in the kitchen." I point to the kitchen and he nods as Jamie switches the TV on.
I come out of my room with my black off shoulder dress and black wedges to find Jamie and Dean are nearly half way through the bottle. They are arguing about something on TV when I step in and Jamie lets out a loud wolf whistle.
"Madison, if you were gay I would leave Kirsten for you." She yells and I roll my eyes at her.
I reach into my purse for my compact mirror and red lipstick before applying the deep red tint on my lips. "James is out front." Dean says as I grab my phone off charge and Jamie grabs her bottle of vodka.
I slide into the back of the Range Rover, James is at the front and Jake is already in the back seat. He moves over to make space for me and Dean. Jamie slides onto Dean's lap and James snatches the bottle of vodka from her hold.
"Now we're talking." He says as Dean closes the door and the driver drives off.
We arrive to The Saffron already tipsy, the entire bottle of vodka is wiped clean between the five of us. James tells the driver that he will call him when we're ready to leave and he drives off. "I don't want to wait in the line." Jamie says as we take in the sight of the long line outside the club.
"I think I have an idea." I say and the four of them follow me as I walk over to the familiar bodyguard. He was stationed outside Luke's office the last time I was here and I don't know if he remembers me, but it's worth a try.
"Miss Madison." He says before I can say anything else and pushes open the door for me.
"Hello." I awkwardly say and he gives me a stiff nod. I don't even know how he knows my name but we're in. "Thank you." I say with a smile and walk through.
“What the f**k was that?" Dean asks and both James and Jake give me a wide eyed look.
"Her boyfriend owns this club." Jamie says and I give her a glare.
"Who's your boyfriend?" Jake asks in a surprised voice.
"Get this Jake, it's Lucas Parker." Jamie hoots and I give her a light shove.
"Parker? You're dating Luke Parker?" He looks between Jamie and I with a shocked look on his face.
"Your boyfriend owns this club?" Both James and Dean say at the same time and I roll my eyes.
"Can you guys quit saying boyfriend so loudly." I say as we walk down the hall and walk into the top floor.
Immediately my eyes meet piercing hazel brown eyes when I scan my surroundings and Zak is already to his feet making his way over. "Jake, Jamie." He hoots over the music. "How have you guys been?" He grabs the both of them and pulls them into a hug. "It's been too long."
James stands behind me awkwardly with Dean.
"Hey Madison." He teases as he pulls me into a hug and I wrap my arms around him with a smile.
"Hey Zak." I say as I pull back and he throws a smirk in my direction.
"Zak Parker." He introduces himself to Dean and James with a handshake and Chris comes up behind him.
"Madison." He says with a smile as his arms wrap around me and he pulls me in for a hug. Are these Parker brothers all huggers or are they just drunk?
"Hey." I say and he greets the rest of them with a smile.
"Where's your other half?" Jake asks Zak.
"In his office." Zak's words have me dumbstruck. Did he just say that Lucas was in his office?
"Have him make an appearance. I haven't seen him since he was at the hospital the last time." Jake says and Zak nods, it's either Jake is lying or he's drunk because the last time he saw Lucas was a few days ago when he attacked Lawson. Chris takes James and Dean to the table they are sitting at and Jamie announces that she's heading down to the bar, leaving Zak, Jake and myself behind.
"When did he get back?" I ask and Jake gives me a confused look.
"A half hour ago." Zak says and I nod.
"Please excuse me for a second." I say with a smile that I manage to muster up.
I descend the staircase slowly as I try to keep my anger at bay. Why did he lie to me and say that he would only be back on Tuesday. I double check my phone to see if he sent me any messages, and when I see nothing it only fuels my anger. I pass Jamie and her girlfriend Kirsten at the bar and Kirsten offers me a smile which I manage to return before I take a sharp left and walk down the hallway. There is no guard outside his door and I push it open to see that it's true. He's seated behind his desk with his eyes on the computer in front of him. His hazel brown eyes widen in shock when he sees me and I step back before closing the door behind me. "Madison." He calls out but I completely ignore him.
He's already out his office before I'm even halfway down the hall and his fingers wrap around my wrist as he halts my steps. "Let go of me." I snap and he does the complete opposite as he pulls me to him and wraps his arms around me.
"I should have called. I know, I just got back and I had to do something important." He says as he runs his fingers through my hair and places a kiss against the side of my head.
"I don't care." I shove him off me and pull away from his hold. However, he doesn't let me go he just holds onto me tighter. "I believed your bullshit about coming back on Tuesday, I'm not an i***t Lucas so don't treat me like one by lying to me." I snap and the tears brim my eyes. I'm so angry that I'm crying because I hate being lied to.
"Hey, why are you crying love?" He grabs my face in his hands and gives me a concerned look.
"I hate being lied to and made a fool and I actually missed you." I shove his hands off me and he let's out a soft laugh.
"I missed you too love." He wraps his arms around me and this time I give into him and press my head against his chest as I wrap my arms around him.
"You're okay now?" He leaves a kiss on my forehead and I nod. We're in his office, he's sitting on his chair with me on his lap and my one leg crossed over the other with his one hand around my back and his other hand on my exposed thigh. "I can't believe you cried because I didn't tell you I was back." He chuckles softly and I swat his shoulder.
His phone buzzes and he let's out a groan when he looks at it. "Zak is asking for me. I swear all he does here is drink for free." I pull away from him and try to stand to my feet as he pulls me back. "I'm going to need a proper hello from you." He says before his lips capture mine. Six days has been way too long and I've missed the feeling of his lips on mine. His phone buzzes again and this time I groan against his lips as he pulls back. "To be continued." He whispers before giving me a light peck and helping me up to my feet.
I grab a tissue from his desk and wipe away the tears from under my eyes before tossing it in the bin. He takes my hand in his and we walk out of his office together. We make our way up to Zak's table and Lucas’ hold tightens around my hand when he sees James. "It's fine. We all came together." I whisper in his ear from behind him and he relaxes slightly.
He shakes Dean's hand first before giving Jamie and Jake a smile. Kirsten sits beside Jamie sipping on her drink and Lucas offers James a curt nod. James gives him a wary look but nods back in response and honestly I didn't expect him to even acknowledge James' presence. He takes a seat and ushers for me to sit beside him, in the middle of him and Zak. Zak hands me a shot of vodka before pouring everyone a round and I'm beginning to wonder why he spends most of his Friday night's here and not with his girlfriend.
"To us." Zak toasts and everyone besides Kirsten and Lucas join in. She just sits there and gives James the stink eye, I down my shot and Lucas wraps an arm around me as I lean back on the couch and into his hold. It's been a long six days without him, but this moment was worth the wait.
