“Herrera, we need to talk,” I said when I saw the guys crowding her, I also needed to tell her something from yesterday night. She didn’t answer.
Some teammates looked at me and then shifted their gazes to Mysty. I asked everyone to get the f**k out. Most of them paused while they processed, I said, but still fell in line to go out.
“Now, can we talk?” I asked, and she nodded in response as we sat in front. When we were comfortable enough, she asked why we needed to talk. It was harder to say than I thought.
“I was about to say this last night, but Reed interrupted us; it’s about you,” I rambled. She asked what it was.
“Martin told me about your family problems,” I said.
“Okay?”
“I hope you meet your biological parents soon,”
“Real parents?” she asked, her face painted with
