I was the pampered wife of Jules Hawthorne, the legendary heir in Auraville's old-money circles.

My younger half-sister somehow found out about how loaded he was.

"Brigitte, let me have your husband. You've been trying to get a divorce anyway, haven't you? As long as you help me get into his bed, I'll get Dad to return your mom's ashes to you."

I knew all too well how dangerous that man was, and I turned her down.

She held a grudge, teamed up with that bastard of a father, tied me up on a yacht, and dumped me overboard.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back to the day my half-sister forced me to give Jules up.

"Fine," I said. "The password to his villa is six zeros. Just let yourself in tonight."

I even played the caring sister and laid out a sexy outfit for her.

Little did she know the person in Hillside Villa that night wasn't my husband. It was a dreaded drug lord.

Chapter 1
I was the pampered wife of Jules Hawthorne, the legendary heir in Auraville's old-money circles. My younger half-sister somehow found out about how loaded he was. "Brigitte, let me have your husband. You've been trying to get a divorce anyway, haven't you? As long as you help me get into his bed, I'll get Dad to return your mom's ashes to you." I knew all too well how dangerous that man was, and I turned her down. She held a grudge, teamed up with that bastard of a father, tied me up on a yacht, and dumped me overboard. When I opened my eyes again, I was back to the day my half-sister forced me to give Jules up. "Fine," I said. "The password to his villa is six zeros. Just let yourself in tonight." I even played the caring sister and laid out a sexy outfit for her. Little did she know the person in Hillside Villa that night wasn't my husband. It was a dreaded drug lord. ***** My father, Thierry Bellamy, flicked cigar ash into my water glass, without a care, and said, "Brigitte, your sister is talking to you. Are you deaf?" I stared at the ash at the bottom of the cup and didn't move. Celeste Bellamy, my half-sister, leaned over and wrapped her arm around mine, her voice cloyingly sweet. "Brigitte, why are you spacing out? Let me have him. Haven't you always wanted a divorce so you can be with your first love? "If you help me this once, I'll have Dad return your mom's ashes to you." Thierry gave a cold snort and blew out a puff of smoke. "Her urn is locked in the safe in my study. Get Celeste into Jules's bedroom tonight, and I'll give you the ashes tomorrow morning." I pulled my arm free of Celeste's grip. "Deal." Celeste was stunned. Thierry's hand, still holding the cigar, froze in midair. "You... agreed?" I stood up and walked toward the walk-in closet, my tone flat. "Jules will be back at Hillside Villa at ten tonight. He can't see, and he never lets anyone get close enough to attend to him. Get into bed before he does. He won't feel the difference." I dragged out a black gift box from the very back of the wardrobe, delivered just yesterday by one of Jules's men. I pressed it into her hands. "This is the style he likes best. Wear it tonight." She couldn't wait to tear it open. Inside was a skimpy black lace nightgown. She shook it out and held it up against herself, then ran to the full-length mirror to twist left and right, muttering about whether Jules preferred her hair down or up. "Brigitte, if you'd been this agreeable from the start, wouldn't everyone be happy?" Thierry flashed a satisfied smile and said, "At least you know what's good for you." He fished out a palm-sized black remote from his suit's inner pocket and stuffed it into Celeste's hand. "I had someone install a camera on the headboard in advance. Hit the button once you're inside. It'll capture the whole night." He blew a smoke ring, his tone almost paternal, and continued, "Brigitte, I'm not trying to make things difficult for you. "Once Celeste gets the footage, she'll deliver it to the Hawthorne family patriarch tomorrow morning. Jules has to take her in. The Hawthorne family surely doesn't want any scandal. "When the time comes, you'll sign the divorce agreement, take your mom's ashes, and leave quietly. We'll still be a family." Celeste clutched both the remote and the nightgown to her chest. "Brigitte, what position does Jules usually like? His legs are crippled, so he can only lie down, right?" I gave a thin smile. "He likes to take charge." She giggled behind her hand. "Don't worry. I'll make him feel incredible. By tomorrow morning, I'll be Mrs. Hawthorne." Thierry patted her shoulder and said, "Hurry up and get ready. I booked a private venue tonight to celebrate your victory in advance." Celeste clutched the gift box to her chest and sashayed upstairs. Thierry turned to look at me, his eyes turning cold. "Don't stick around here being an eyesore tonight. Get out and sleep at a hotel. Come to my office at nine tomorrow morning to get the ashes." I picked up the car keys from the table. "You'd better keep your word." Thierry chuckled, his tone softening again. "We're family. When have I ever lied to you?" I turned and walked out of the Bellamy Villa. I got into the car and glanced at my phone. It was 5 p.m. There were five hours until Jules returned to the villa, and there was one hour until Thierry went out drinking. I started the car, circled to the dark alley outside the Bellamy Villa, and stopped. The screen lit up with a text from an unsaved number. A: Mr. Hawthorne has a distinguished guest tonight. Hillside Villa has been cleared. Brigitte: Got it. The so‑called distinguished guest was a drug lord. Jules wasn't blind or crippled at all. By day, he was the gentle, refined heir. By night, he was the king who ruled Meridia's dark web. That night, Hillside Villa would turn into a dog-eat-dog bloodbath. When Celeste pushed open that door, the one waiting for her wasn't a billionaire heir, but a devil who killed without batting an eye!
