The Night of Rebirth
The night in Los Angeles was alive with neon lights and dazzling starlight. The bustling streets and the endless flow of traffic made the city seem especially vibrant. However, behind the glitz and glamour of this city, many people were being swallowed by the harsh realities of life, struggling on the edge of their dreams. Jason Carter stood by the window, gazing at the Hollywood sign in the distance with mixed emotions. He had once been one of the dreamers in this city, but now he was just an ordinary entertainment agent. Although he had paved the way to success for many stars, his own career had stagnated, as if he were trapped under an invisible ceiling, unable to break through. He glanced at the unopened bottle of whiskey on the table and sighed softly. Reflecting on the efforts he had put in over the years, Jason felt a wave of exhaustion. At that moment, the phone rang, interrupting his thoughts. He picked up the phone; it was his friend and client, a popular singer, on the line. The other person's voice was anxious, as if something had gone wrong. "Jason, my concert is in trouble," the voice on the other end was mixed with background noise, "The lighting effects have completely failed, and there are issues with the sound system. I don't know what to do!" Jason frowned. Although this wasn’t a major issue, such unexpected problems in front of a popular singer could indeed affect her performance and the audience's experience. He calmly reassured her, telling her not to panic and that he would head to the venue immediately to handle the situation. However, fate always enjoys playing tricks when least expected. Just as Jason hung up the phone and was about to leave, he was struck by a sudden, intense headache. Instinctively, he held his forehead, but found the world around him growing blurry, with all sounds becoming distant and muffled. His body lost balance, and he collapsed heavily to the ground, losing consciousness. When he opened his eyes again, the headache had vanished, replaced by an indescribable sense of clarity. He slowly sat up and looked around, only to find that he was no longer in his familiar apartment but lying on an unfamiliar bed. The room was simply yet stylishly furnished, with posters of rock bands on the walls, and the sounds of the street outside filtering through the window. Jason felt a wave of confusion; he remembered falling down just moments ago, so how could he suddenly be in this place? He quickly jumped out of bed and walked to the mirror. Reflected in it was a young face, with tight skin, thick hair, and eyes shining with vitality. This was not the Jason he remembered—the man in his thirties was gone, replaced by a young man in his early twenties. "What... what is going on?" Jason muttered to himself, gripping the mirror frame tightly, his heart racing. He began to search the room, hoping to find some clues. On the table was a newspaper, and as he picked it up, his eyes were drawn to the date—August 18, 1989. "1989? Impossible!" Jason’s voice trembled as he could hardly believe his eyes. He checked the date on the newspaper again; there was no mistake—he was indeed in 1989. A surge of fear and disbelief washed over him as he shakily opened the wardrobe. Inside, neatly hung were several pieces of vintage-style clothing, clearly belonging to this era. He picked up a jacket and found an ID card in the pocket. The photo on the ID was identical to his reflection in the mirror, and the name read—Jason Carter. Jason felt a wave of dizziness; he didn’t know how to face all this. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. At this moment, the only thing he could do was accept the reality before him: he had been reborn in 1989, becoming a younger version of himself. He began to think about his next move. Since he had been reborn into this era, and he knew the future trends, this was an incredible opportunity to use future knowledge to change his and others' destinies. But he was also aware that nothing came without risks—any misstep could alter history, leading to unforeseen consequences. Jason decided not to act hastily but to first understand his current situation. He got dressed and left the room, finding himself in a small apartment. Though not large, it was fully equipped. In the living room, he found a notebook on the table, filled with detailed schedules and contact information. Through the notebook, he learned that he was a newcomer in the entertainment industry, with no well-known artists under his management, and was just starting his career. Jason couldn’t help but smile. Fate had given him a chance to start over, and he would not waste it. In the days that followed, Jason familiarized himself with this "new" world while cautiously making contacts in the entertainment industry. He discovered that the Los Angeles of 1989 was even more vibrant than he remembered, with the music and film industries booming. Many future superstars had yet to make their mark, and some classic music and films had yet to be born. To Jason, this was both familiar and unfamiliar, filled with opportunities as well as challenges.
