Sunday morning
THEY ARRIVED AT the church a few minutes before ten thirty, and Mickey was surprised to find his grandmother waiting for them.
“Hi, Gram, I didn’t expect to find you here for this service,” he said.
“I usually go to the eight o’clock service, but I think I told you that I sometimes attend this service for the music. Besides, I wanted to sit with my family in church just this once.”
“Still can’t persuade Granddad to go to church with you?”
“The stubborn old coot won’t budge and still thinks putting in an appearance at Christmas and Easter fulfills his obligation.”
“Some things never change.”
“That’s for sure.”
“This church is beautiful inside, isn’t it?” Chris said.
“Yes, it is,” she said. “It looks just like a church should look.”
