*Constance* When I returned to my rooms only a few moments later, Harriet was already making a fuss over me, the news of my imminent dinner with the King having preceded me. “Now," she told me. “We need to get you washed and your hair done. They've already delivered your new wardrobe, so you will need my help dressing. I don't care what you say, milady, these orders come straight from the King, so I mean to obey them." The next several hours were spent scrubbing my already clean skin, washing my hair, brushing it, curling it, styling it in a way I had never seen before, and then putting on the dress. This last bit was the part I most dreaded. It was strange as only a few days ago, I had been wearing a dress that looked much like the one I saw before me. It was an elegant scarlet dress
