The Woods Again.

"Alright everyone. It is the last night of camp! I want to thank you for choosing our camp and hope you enjoyed your stay." Michelle smiled as she looked at the group of 10. Everyone applauded, "Today's last activity is hide n seek, rescue your phones, hence the reason why we have your phones captive. You are to find papers on the trees, the duo that have the most papers tonight receive a prize. There are four people hiding in the woods, if they scare you and you scream. You are out and you have to share the last text you sent recently." Everyone laughed as they waited excitedly for more information. "Everyone will have a walkie talkie, torch and also a partner." Everyone gushed at the exciting game. A warm night, the bonfire cackling away it felt like they were camping just like when they were little. Theresa and Denaya watched as Ryan and Charis giggling and whispering to each other, Denaya hunched over as she clamped a hand to her mouth. "Don't be jealous, just because I rejected you." Ryan winked and Denaya growled "I'd rather kiss a frog then go out with you." She flipped him off "Too bad the frog won't turn into Prince Charming." Ryan smirked angering the auburn head next to Theresa who seemed to be zoned off.  "Alright ladies and gentleman! I have numbers with pairs in here, once you get your number, sit down and we'll see who you'll pair up with, there will be no exchanging!" Michelle smiled. Everyone groaned knowing that they wanted to go with their friends but this is gonna be awkward. Everybody got their numbers and sat down. "Alright 1?" Michelle  looked over to a hand up "Charis and Sadie." Theresa wished quietly not wanting to pair up with Ryan "Please, anyone but Ryan." Theresa and Denaya both whispered, the two looked at each other and giggled. "What number did you get?" Theresa looked at Denaya "6."  She answered "Ryan and Denaya!" Michelle said Denaya looked as if she saw a ghost. "Whew." Theresa mumbled, Denaya looked towards Ryan who seemed to be sucking Charis's face. The two friends shuddered as they looked away "Do they not know that public affection is uncomfortable?" Denaya whispered. "Oh Denaya,  Apparently I heard that you liked Ryan. Please try to save face, don't try anything with my man."  Charis patted his cheeks and looked over at Theresa and Denaya "Well, apparently you need to get your ears checked, because there is no well in hell would I ever like that." Denaya points to him in disgust and grabs for Theresa as they both stood up and walked to another spot. Charis scoffed and Ryan seemed to crack a smile. Theresa laughed as they walked towards Michelle "Oh Marcus, found your partner!" Michelle waved him over to Theresa. "Good luck everyone. You have 2 hours." Theresa and Marcus weren't close, but they seem to have a normal pleasant conversation whilst they searched for the papers, Theresa noticed how he talked about Silvia Marq's incredible acting on her new movie, she raised flashed a light towards the trees "Hey Marcus, do you wanna be an actor?" Theresa asked, Marcus stopped and turned to her "How do you know?" He asks Theresa shrugged her shoulders "Just a hunch, you seem to really enjoy drama back in high school." Marcus was very sporty, in the his family everyone was an athlete, but Marcus was more interested in acting, he wasn't bad looking, he was 6'1, toned built, light blue eyes, blonde buzzed cut hair, lets say a lot of girls liked him , but he was too busy focusing on his acting and sports that he barely dated,  he was in almost every sport during high school, he was also Ryan's best friend. He may seem like a built jock, but he is actually quite smart and loves drama. He loves both drama and sports. But seemed to want to concentrate on sports more due to the disagreement with his parents about acting. Theresa felt bad for him "You shouldn't drop it. Keep practicing, keep going I know one day you'll become a great actor." Theresa flashed the light towards a tree and found a paper "Will you look at that." She smiled walking towards the paper, pulling it off and waving it around "We got one." She smiled. Marcus high fives her "Theresa, thank you. No one has ever supported me on my dream, well other then Denaya. You two are the only ones who've noticed my deep passion for acting." He scratched the back of his head, feelings bit embarrassed "Well your parents should support you in everything you do. Even about the person you like." Theresa pulled a mischievous smile and Marcus's eyes grew wide realising what she meant. "Why do you make it sound as if I have a crush on a guy?" He asked almost too fast and Theresa giggled "I'm not,  so what if it's a guy or girl? Look, what I'm saying is, so what if  your parents don't like Denaya?" Marcus's  face grew red and Theresa laughed at his reaction. "I don't like her, she's..she's too wild." He stuttered, he looked away trying to avoid her gaze "Oh come on, I know you like that type. Don't think I don't see you throwing glances at her." Theresa pushed, Marcus walked away from Theresa, hiding his face from the giggling 20 year old. As if the two were teenagers again, Theresa teased him and poked at him. Marcus defending himself poorly at that decided to poke back, failing miserably as she was faster he decided to walk away. "My parents never liked her! You know what happened last time." He said trying to walk faster "Oh come on. It was one time, so what if she climbed your bedroom window while you were changing." Theresa said, Marcus scrunched his nose "Yeah, you're right. So what if she climbed in the Pastors son window, before a Sunday mass. Because of her I was grounded for a week, my parents thought we were fooling around!" He exclaimed, Theresa laughed so hard she nearly tripped over her own feet.  "Fooling around? How cute." She regained her composure. "The pastors son, dating a wild and uncontrollable lady." Theresa waved her hands in the air as if writing a headline "She's not a lady, more like a wild barbaric woman." "Whom you have a crush on." Theresa pointed smiling, "Theresa stop that." Marcus hides his face behind his hand, "Come on, don't be shy. When you're rich and famous, I'll be teasing you about it." She egged on, Marcus then began to run. Theresa bolted after him, between the two, they were the fastest in the school, they didn't talk as much but they were very competitive. "Especially when she hugged you this morning. I know where that hand wanted to-" Theresa stopped short as she shone the torch in front of her both still running at full speed   "Marcus stop!" She yelled, Theresa saw a large dip before them "No! I know you're just gonna tease me." He yelled back, " There's a freaking dip!" She yelled but Marcus wasn't having any of it. Theresa had to think of something fast, flashing the light forward, she thought of her options, she pumped her legs up, as if time slowed down, she put enough strength into her legs pushing her off the ground, she then  grabbed for Marcus's collar pulling him back as she was pushed forward mid air. If she calculated this right,  she would be able to reach the branch in front of her, but she missed as her fingers brushed it "s**t!" She screamed as she went rolling down the dip, she tumbled down, luckily enough the ground was soft, covered with dead leaves, but she definitely felt some sharp rocks scraping at her body on her way down. "Theresa!" Marcus called out to her, but Theresa was still rolling down the autumn leave 'Jesus, how long is this freaking fall?' She thought in her head as she brought her arms to her face. Branch after branch, rock after rock Theresa had the time of her life rolling down. Finally her body came to a halt. "Mmmh, argh!" She tried to push herself up only to flop back onto the leaves,  "Why the hell does this keep happening to me?" She groans and she felt a large thump against her head. "Ow!" She cried as she saw the torch landing beside her. Theresa  laid still, she should be very careful about her next move, slowly moving her body to see where she got hurt.  "Mm." She winced as she felt her rib aching, her ankle didn't feel right either, her arms weren't a 100% either. "Theresa?" Marcus sounded distant. How far exactly did she fall? "Marcus?" She called out but it was barely a whisper. "Theresa? Theresa can you hear me?" Marcus called out his voice echoed, but still it wasn't close. "I'm coming down!" He yells, Theresa cleared her throat. "No!" She screamed. "You're alive! Thank god." He was panicking, she knew that, pushing herself slowly away from the ground Theresa reached for the torch and shone it around her surroundings, "Hello again woods." She whispered. "Marcus! Call the others on the walkie, I'm ok. A few sprains and-" Theresa stopped to see something move a few feet away. Her heart dropped as she saw a shadow standing a few feet from her, she slowly got up ignoring the pain from her body, she was too scared to stay still. "Theresa?" A  voice called out to her and she didn't think about anything but escaping this dangerous situation. Theresa's eyes still glued to the figure in front of her, fear plastered on her face, her hand shook slightly  "M-Marcus!" She yelled out "Yeah!" He replied. "There's someone here with me!" Theresa yelled. Silence, "Theresa, run!" She heard him call out, "Don't have to tell me twice." She bolted. She had no idea where to go, it was dark, there was someone chasing after her and her body was screaming in pain. "f**k this s**t I'm never camping again!" She dodged trees, still hearing the footsteps behind her she  pushed her legs to run faster. Theresa had to put most of her weight on her left ankle because her right ankle is sprained, and here she was running and putting pressure on it when she's not suppose to. "Why? Why does this keep happening to me?" She screamed as she looked back to see that the man was closer, "Go away!" She turned and threw the torch hitting him on the head. The man fell back but that didn't stop Theresa from running, she didn't know long she was running but she felt a huge relief when she heard music playing, "Help!" She yelled limping towards where the music was coming from, Theresa saw light. She was saved, her body was almost at its limit, Theresa was close, there were trees lined  up perfectly, she saw people on the other side, Theresa needed help fast, she stopped short  feeling  a sharp pain on the side of her rib, wincing she placed her hand on her left  and  came in contact with warm liquid. "What? Did something stab me?" She questioned as she kept walking, her eyes looking down at her hand and then at the people staring at her bewildered, she slowly stopped walking. The music slowly faded, Theresa stood at the head of the pool,z a large rectangle  pool in front of her, her body relaxed and she smiled "I'm safe." She whispered Theresa stepped forward only to slip, a loud 'THUMP!'  was heard, her head smacked against the concrete. A scream erupted "Fuck." She mumbled  before her body came in contact with the cold freezing liquid. Screams erupted from the crowd, above the balcony a familiar dirty blonde was sipping on red wine, he turned hearing the screams and looked at his guests looking at a wild looking girl, she was too close to the pool, his eyes caught sight of her bloodied hand and his eyes scanned her up, he brought the glass to his lips only to stop short as he saw her. "Miss Theresa?" He tilted his head, her body fell forward and into the pool, throwing his glass aside he jumped over the balcony "Dwayne what the f**k dude!" Another guy screamed! I mean anyone would have the same reaction, the guy jumped from a 6ft balcony. Dwayne was pulling off his suit jacket, pushing  past his guests and diving in, swimming towards Theresa. He grabbed her by the waist and brought his feet against the bottom of the pool, pushing the two  up "Dwayne!" His friends called out as they helped pull Theresa out from the pool, "Is she breathing?" Dwayne got out, kneeling beside her and rested his ear at her chest "She swallowed some water, it's blocking her airway." Dwayne carefully placed the heel of his palm  at her chest, then placing his hand on top of the other he performed cpr on her, two rescue breaths and 30 compressions. "Come on Theresa. Hang in there!" He said, his wet hair almost covering his eyes making it a bit harder for him to see her. "Stay with me." Everyone watched in dread, a cough was heard and Theresa's eyes opened as she coughed up water, Dwayne quickly helped her turn her head as she spat out water, "There ya go love." Theresa looked up at her saviour, her visions still a blur but she knew that deep mellow voice anywhere "D-Dwayne?" She whispered and her eyes rolled back as she fell back in his arms.
