Chapter 26Before the ground crew left camp, I sent John on a recon run in the Bell helicopter to survey the path the caravan will take. He scouted 30 miles up the path and then back down to our camp. John reported no sighting of the bad guys. After we refuel the helicopters at the airport, we will fly back over the entire route the ground crew will be following. All of our eyes will scour the landscape looking for anything out of the ordinary. We will fly the 80 mile route due east of the bad guys camp until we arrive close to Djanet, then we will fly to Bordj El Haouas and then the area where our vehicles first went off-roading. After reaching that area, we plan on heading straight south until we are at the same latitude as the bad guys camp where we'll head due east and do a high altitud
