Rhea’s POV My mother walks over to me. Her face is a mask of polite concern. “Rhea, darling, how was your night?” she asks, her voice soft. I say nothing. I just stand there in the doorway, my arms hanging loose at my sides, staring at them. My wolf stirs inside me, displeased at her pretence, but I push her down. No point in responding. Words won’t change anything. A wave of sadness crashes over me as I realize that if I hadn’t come out of the kitchen, no one would have even noticed I was missing.
