The room quietened down quickly when Nathan gestured for silence, not even those who were normally boisterous throughout a briefing were making a sound. It wasn’t the presence of DCI Collins that was restraining them, it was the news that a murder suspect was on the loose and had put one of their colleagues in hospital - worse than that, her injuries were sufficiently serious that she might need surgery.
