LILITH. His words sounded absurd, and for some minutes I thought that he was joking. I blinked my eyes over and over, hoping he would confirm it and say he was truly kidding me. But he didn’t tell me he was joking; rather, he looked at me like he was serious. “It is for our benefit.” He held my hand, and for some seconds, all I did was watch him. He was serious; my mate was going to push me out. “Trust me, I will not put you in danger. The pack is currently in danger, and the people need their Alpha and Luna to provide for them. You are our only hope, Lilith.” He held my hand, looking at me like I was the way to his salvation. He called me his Luna. He had never called me his Luna. “What danger?” I asked. “Debt. The pack is in debt.” He let out the words, digging his face into his hands. “How…” “It doesn't matter right now, and the best way is for you to go to that auction.” He held both my hands, watching me with desperation. I could already see the pain in his eyes. "You want me to sleep with another man.” It felt like an insult to be asked to sleep with another man. “He is inept, and you know this.” He tackled, and I ignored the fire in his eyes. He looked mad, but I decided not to think too much about it. He must be feeling frustrated; his pack was lacking. He was worried. There has been that Alpha Desmond isn't capable, that he is cursed. Every woman who had ever been around him would come back and say he didn't touch her. Rumors flew around saying he was either not attracted to females or was impotent. Yet every day, women showed up at his door stripping their clothes off for him. He was handsome; rumors say some women just want to be touched by him, yet he was always very picky. “All you have to do is go in, he will reject you, but he will still give you the money we want." Jeff’s voice sounded again in my ears. His eyes were drawn to tears, and I couldn't watch him cry. I loved him. “I will marry you right after the debt is settled.” He added, and that was all that was left to drive me to this moment where I was behind many other women who wanted to be with the mighty Desmond. A man who hardly stepped into the daylight, yet he was the most talked-about Alpha. He ruled the Ravenwood Pack, the most powerful and the most feared pack. No one knows exactly why he always came to silver moon pack every month, selecting women, only to walk away untouched each time. Some believed he was searching for his destined Luna, although many believed he was inept and cursed. “I can't wait to be the woman he chooses for the first time in the history of this event.” I heard some women behind me. I couldn't believe that anyone would be willing to come here, all because they want to be chosen by one man. I have heard he was very handsome, but self-worth should caution some people. “Who is this ugly thing?” I heard a voice behind me, and I turned around to find a tall and dark lady staring at me. She was pretty, in a way that I couldn't explain. Her body was sexy, and she looked inhuman. Was she here too, to be selected amongst many other women when she looked like a goddess? “Get out of the way, you ugly thing!” I was tossed aside by her, and the remaining woman laughed at me. “What are you wearing?” They continued to laugh, and I said nothing. I had dressed differently today. I wore clothes close to rags because I really didn't want to be looked upon by the Alpha. My makeup was ugly too, I had the wrong foundation on, and I overlined my lips to give me coverage. The dress I wore was three times my size and I used a pin and a belt to hold it still on my body. An oversized coat and baggy leggings coupled with leopard print boots. I looked ridiculous, even I couldn't recognise myself, which is exactly what I wanted. All I want is the money. I was going to be the Luna of the Silver Moon pack very soon, after Jeff marries me. There was no way I would tarnish my image like this. "Even Jennifer, who is the most beautiful girl in this pack, has never been selected, and someone like you thinks you can match up? Ha, you should go back to collecting dust!” Another voice sounded behind me, but I paid no attention to what they had to say. I had one mission; just one. Soon, it was my turn, and my heart began to pound really fast in my chest. The last girl who came out was really upset that she was given a check. “He didn't even touch me.” She hissed as she walked away, while I sighed. I stepped in, and the large brown oak double door was opened by two men. I stepped in and was met with a bedroom-like office. One part of the large space was filled with books, and the other part had a comfortable bed. It was a king-sized bed that could fit six humans. Right by the side of the bed sat a man in a chair. His aura filled the place just like he filled the chair. His face was down, and he didn't raise his head. He was looking at the floor like there was something pretty on there. “You can leave after thirty seconds.” His voice sounded thick itself. His voice was like an eruption in the distance that penetrated the air uninvited. He had the kind of voice that made women swoon. It didn't matter, though not at this moment. “Is this what you do?” I asked. Perhaps the heat of anger was from the woman who insulted me from the outside, or I just couldn't believe him right now. “You make women come here just for them to stand in front of you for twenty seconds, and you ask them to leave. Is it that you have so much money and want to show off, or do you just want to humiliate my gender?" I didn't know why I felt so offended, but I hated that so many women come here every day to be auctioned like cheap flowers. Then he raised his head instantly, the action too fast that I almost didn't notice. His eyes bore into mine. Dark eyes like the moonlight. He blinked and got to his feet, and damn, was he tall? He was tall and huge; my head followed him as he stood straight. I swallowed as the distance between his head and mine was crazy. “Do that again.” His voice got even thicker, his dark gaze turned even darker, and he watched me without blinking. “Do what?” I asked, raising my brows and acting like his big frame wasn't imposing. What did I do? “The s**t you did just now, do it again.” His voice was calm, yet I could feel the power from him was intense. Wait, what did I do?
