Addie sighed after class had ended that day not because of the boring lecture, but because of the thought she stilled in mind that a man who she thinks as a phsycic told her that she's a soulless person. No soul. Then what did she have?
She massaged her forehead twice now since she had been spacing that morning and afternoon class of hers as she stood and wore her backpack leaving the room. she stared running out of the school campus as the wind blew strong. It's been two days Addie! Two days! try not to think about it please! she shut her eyes thinking that she should stop now or else she might lose another eight hours of sleep. A valuable thing for people's health. But how would it effect an immortal though? Why can't she feel anything wrong about her being sleepless? She shrugged and think again. I'm healthy! I won't feel anything bad cause I'm healthy! she thought determined.
She suddenly paused after the thought. The place she stopped wasn't that far from her house so she decided to make a slower phase by walking now. As she walks, she didn't notice Ethan walking beside her trying to catch up with her phase smiling with his infamous grin.
"You walk too fast." He said breaking the moment of silence.
Addie flinched in surprise as she look beside her with wide eyes. "W-what?" she stuttered stupidly as she blinked twice staring at the boy who was smiling at her.
Ethan chuckled, amused of the girl's reaction. "Thinking so much? You didn't even noticed that your notebook fell." he informed showing Addie a black notebook placed in his left palm. But in truth, he simply snatched it from her bag without her notice.
"Oh!" Addie said astonished. "I'm so sorry, I even bothered you following me for this." she apologized taking the notebook from the boy's hand and smiled to show her gratitude.
"Don't be sorry. I followed you since I think I shouldn't bother interfering from your thought between your existence and kind. But I think you're overthinking too much so I bothered you." He said with the same grin he was wearing as he looked at the girl stiffed from where she stood.
Another psycic? She thought thinking about how Blade told her about her with no soul and now this man knowing what she's thinking. Mind reader? "H-how did you know?!" she asked after five seconds of silence thinking and now was amazed from the man's ability that she thought of.
Ethan laughed. What's with this girl? She's so easy to manipulate. he thought. "I'm Blade's brother. The one who helped you from the reapers." he reminded her about his brother's 'heroic' deed. I'll play with her a little Blade. He smirks wider now over the thought.
"Oh yeah him!" she snapped in familiarity. "I've been looking for him since this morning. I wanted to ask about--"
"Not having soul?" Ethan asked.
"That's right! It's kinda impossible that I don't have soul right?" she asked, eyes convincing as if she wanted Ethan to tell her that it's not true. "Right?" she asked with a more hopeful voice.
The boy sighed. "Well... it's actually true that you don't have a soul." he said pretending to be with her sympathy. "And that's why you're in danger." he added.
"What?! But..." Addie's head bowed. "Two days ago... I was just a girl with a sixth sense. I can just avoid spirits... but now... I-I don't have a soul?" she sobbed started to feel her tears of upset.
If Ethan was just not facing her, he would've laughed. What a temptation of stupid jokes. He can't even believe that what he and Blade have said was believable. "It's okay now." he said in a calming voice. "I'm sure my brother won't let anything bad happen to you." He comforted patting the girl's shoulder.
"Why would he?" Addie asked still sniffing and sobbing.
"Because that's his duty..." Ethan thought for a moment as he sensed Blade's presence in rage. He must've heard what he was saying and was annoyed at his big brother now. "Because, his job is to protect a soulless for eternity."
