CHAPTER 4

1864 Words
ANITA POV I kept coughing vigorously as tears poured down from my eyes. I badly wanted to use my hands to hold my throat, but it was still chained. This added to my frustration. I can’t believe he actually almost killed me. I was already seeing stars when he let me go. I blinked my eyes so they could be clear from the tears that covered them. When I could finally see properly, the first thing or rather person I saw was a little kid. He wasn’t up to four years if I am not mistakenly. I never heard that Alpha Zain had a son. I only heard of his mate’s death. The little boy looks just like him, although the only thing different is the boy has blonde hair and emerald eyes. His emerald eyes were fixed on me, and he had a cute look of confusion on his face. My heart melted as I kept looking at him. He is so cute, and I felt so drawn to him. Without thinking, I raised the sides of my lips and smiled at him. His eyes went wide, making him so adorable, and then he smiled back at me. “Kinn what are you doing here? How did you get here?” Alpha Zain, who almost took my life a few seconds asked in a very soft voice. He didn’t sound like the same person. He sounded so different, and it didn’t match his cold behaviour. “I followed you, Daddy. I didn’t want to stay at home alone.” the little cutie answered so innocently. “But you should have said something so I would know you are following me. You shouldn’t be following Daddy to where he does his personal business. What if something bad had happened to you? I have always warned you to be careful.” Alpha Zain was trying to scold the kid, but his voice didn’t sound like he was doing that. He was so calm, and I could hear how worried he was from how he spoke. I never excepted that I would see different sides of him. First, the arrogant side. Second, the angry side. Next, the dangerous side. Now the soft side. Aren’t I so lucky? Note the sarcasm. “Daddy, I know nothing is going to happen to me because my daddy is a big Alpha King, and he is my hero. He will always protect me. Right, Daddy?” Even I couldn’t help but smile. The little cutie seems to have a mischievous side. He knows how to find his way out of a situation, and it seems he is winning against his father with his sweet words. I noticed even the cold Alpha King relaxed a bit. “Next time don’t do that.” he said as he played with his hair. “Let’s go home. You can’t stay here. This isn’t a safe place for you.” Alpha Zain said as he tried to take his hand, but the young kid began to walk. He walked to me and stood in front of me. Without saying a word, he raised his hand and cleaned my face. He was wiping my tears. “Sorry.” he said gently. My heart did not just melt alone, but it explored. He didn’t act like a child. He acted like a real man. Why is he making me get so connected to him? “I wish I could pinch those adorable soft cheeks.” Ari said. She seems to be also smitten by his cuteness. “Kinn come here. Don’t touch her. She is dangerous.” I heard Alpha Zain say. “Daddy why is she chained?” the innocent little man asked his dad. “Because she is dangerous. Now leave her alone.” his father answered, raising his voice a little. He is turning back to being cold, although not completely because of his son. “But dad, she doesn’t look dangerous to me. She looks nice and I like her.” The little champ smiled at me again, but this time his front teeth were out. “Kinn no. You can’t like her. She is a rogue.” his dad said bitterly. “Please dad can we keep her. I don’t want her to stay here. Let’s take her home.” he begged. “I said no, and I am not going to change my mind. She can’t come with us. She doesn’t belong here.” Alpha Zain refused. “But da…….” “Kinn let’s go home right now.” the alpha instructed with a frown on his face. Everyone went silent. I looked at the little man and was going to tell him to go without me, but words failed me when I saw him pouting, and tears began to gather in his eyes. “Kinn!!!!” Alpha Zain’s eyes softened, and the frown instantly disappeared. The kid began to wail out so loud. “Why are you crying, son?” he asked softly. His soft spot is seeing his son crying. Isn’t that sweet. “Daddy you promised you will always give me anything I asked for. You lied to me.” he cried out. “Hey come on. You know that’s not true. I always bought toys and cars for you whenever you asked for them. I have never refused to give you anything.” “But daddy, can you please agree to let her stay with us? I really like her so much.” The cutie begged again. It warmed my heart when he said he liked me so much. He is the first person who said he likes me. I have never received that before, not even from my parents. Just when I thought I would never be liked or loved, a young man of less than four years is announcing out so boldly that he likes me. It melted my heart so much that I smiled a little. “We are going home right now.” Alpha Zain said as he began to walk to us. He picked up his son, who began to fight him, and then he walked away. The other man locked the cell and followed him behind. I could hear the little man screaming till I couldn’t hear him again. I let out a sigh, knowing that it is over and now. It is time to reflect on my life because I am sure that when he returns, he is still going to kill me. I sat down in the silence and began to think. “Anita are you okay?” Ari suddenly asked. “Apart from the fact that I am worried we might be killed soon, other than that, I am fine. Why are you asking?” I asked her. “Well I’m just saying. It seems our second chance mate is serious about not wanting us. He is so in love with his mate who is already dead. No one wants us.” I could feel the sadness in her voice. “I am sorry, Ari. I feel like half of this matter is partially my fault. If you weren’t stuck with someone like me, you would be happy with your mate by now. I am truly sorry I brought you so much pain and sadness.” I apologized to her as I also felt sad because it was really my fault. If only I wasn’t an omega. “Come on now, I never want to hear you apologise to me for being with you. I have never regretted not even for a minute or a second you being my human. I am more than grateful and contended that we are one, and I won’t leave you alone. I see how strong you try to be, and for that, I will also be strong for us too.” she smiled. Her words made my eyes gather up tears. “So what do we do next? It seems like Alpha King is bent on executing us. Do you have a plan on how we can get out of here?” I asked. She began to think for some seconds. “Nothing is coming into my mind right now.” she finally spoke. We both went silent, not knowing what else to say to each other. “Can we still hope for a miracle?” I asked her. “We can. The moon goddess may have pity and compassion on us, and she will help us get out of here.” she answered. I nodded. We went silent again as we were both deep in thoughts. I couldn’t think of anything, and not just that, no one came back for me. Night came, and still no one came to see me. I got confused wondering why they haven’t returned. I couldn’t close my eyes to sleep because I didn’t want them to take me unawares while I was asleep. I kept waiting till the sun rose up and lightened the cell. “It seems they want us to strarve to death in here as our punishment.” I said to Ari. “Like it is going to work on us. They don’t know the hell we faced in your parents' house and how we have been starved several times but yet we are still alive.” she chuckled. “That is true. But I don’t like waiting. It makes me so anxious and tensed.” I complained. “Let’s keep waiting and not give them what they want.” she said. I tried to think of anything that would distract me, but then nothing came into my mind. I was still anxious. A few minutes later, the cell finally opened. The same man who first came to see me walked in. Without saying anything, he unlocked the chains that held me bound. I stared at him in confusion. Why is he freeing me? Or does he want to kill me in front of everyone? What is going on? Should I ask him? No, I can’t do that. “Let’s knock him down and run away.” Ari advices. “Don’t even think of running away because you will be caught and punished. Now stand up.” the man said. I almost let out a gasp. “Did he hear me or what?” Ari questioned, feeling shocked herself. I stood up slowly, and immediately, my legs began to tremble. I sat back and stretched it for blood to flow well before I stood up again. I noticed the man didn’t seem to mind that I was being slow. He looked like he was patiently waiting for me. I slowly began to move my legs. I followed him out of the prison. I wanted to cry the moment the air around me changed, and I could perceive that foul smell anymore. I stood as I took a deep breath in. “Let’s go, the Alpha is waiting for you.” My heart began to beat so fast, and I began to feel scared. I can just feel it that something is about to happen, and it doesn’t seem like something good.
