They say that you only live once, so do all that you can before your time expires. Yeah, I wish it was that easy for me to do. I mean don't get me wrong I really wanna but sometimes it's just so hard. How can I move on and try to be happy, leave the past in the past, when all I can think about are only the sad moments of my life ,the moment that caused everything to be upside down, the moment that HE left. Walking through the empty hallways of my childhood home I sighed, wondering what my new life would be like, a life where my mother would never be here to see me grow, a life with painful memories and a life where I'd always feel hopeless. Looking down at the picture frame in my hand i smiled. "I wish you were here with me Evan". Evan was my twin brother whom I'd do everything with and spend everyday with, I was 4 minutes older than him but he'd always pretend to be the eldest . We were on a vacation in Hawaii, it was our 5th birthday and my parents wanted it to be memorable.......trust me they didn't fail in making sure that it was. Dad had gotten an important business call the day before we were suppose to go back home, and he had to leave immediately, but my mother suggested that he should go on ahead before us she'd stay another day because she had spent so much time and money on the trip so it only made sense to stay until the end, and so dad hesitantly agreed. About 5 hours after dad flew out mom took us on a last day shopping spree. "I want this one mommy" Evan whined hugging a big blue bear tightly to his chest staring at mom with his huge eyes Looking at the bear that Evan held in his hands mom suggested that she would also take the matching pink one for me. Gently holding it in my arms I observed it while mom payed for them. "You know sissy" Evan started, resting his small hand on my shoulder, " if I'm ever not with you and you start missing me just stare at the bear and wish me home, I'll come back for you I promise " he smiled Grinning I looked at my twin and took his hand in mine squeezing it tightly. "There's no need for that Ev i won't ever let you go" I said . "Let's go guy's" mom called behind her waiting as we ran up to her, each holding on to one arm. *************** "And they lived happily ever after" closing the book mom kissed each our heads good night. "I wish I was a princess too mom" I said pouting sadly, I was so use to my parents reading fairytale stories to us every night that my little brain actually started believing them. "Your already my princess Ava" she replied rubbing my cheek lovingly "and you'll always be". Smiling I started getting sleepy and as my eyes closed that night I thanked God for the amazing family that I had. If only I had known that it wouldn't last forever. Jumping out of bed I gripped the sheets tightly, violently shaking. There were weird noises coming from the hallway and they did not sound friendly at all. Tip toeing out of bed I quickly woke up Evan so that he would be aware of what was happening. Rubbing his sleepy eyes he tiredly looked at me yawning quietly. "Uh what's-" before he could finish asking me anything a loud BAM! Was heard followed by my mom's screams. Frightened I grabbed Evan's hand and dragged him under the bed so that we would be safe. "Please, please don't hurt me" mom screamed. "Mommy" I quietly said trying to stifle my sobs. "Wait here sissy" Evan insisted as he started crawling back from beneath the bed, scared I gripped his arm tightly tugging him back down. "No Ev, dad said that if we were ever in danger we were to make sure that we're hidden until one of them comes to get us". "I need to see if Mommy is safe Ava" he angrily said, "now you stay here until I get back understood". Hesitantly I nodded my head . "I'll be back, I promise " It's been an hour and no one as been back as yet and I was starting to get worried. Sighing I got out from beneath the bed and silently crept out to the hallway. "Evan" I whispered "Evannnn" where was he Opening the door to the room that mom was staying in I gasped at the site infront of me. No, no, no this couldn't be happening, in a rush a ran over to my mom and shook her. "Wake up mommy, wake up, wake up" I cried not knowing what else to do. she was laying down on the floor in a bloody puddle, there was so much blood that I ended up running to the bathroom and throwing up every where. I slide down on the wall of the bathroom and cried so much that I passed out, the last thing on my mind being where was Evan. That all happened 12 years ago and up to this day it has been the worst day of my life. The day my father found out what had happened he broke down immediately, then he started shutting me out, he was grieving the death of my mother so much that he forgot that I was even there. It took him 8 years to get over the incident and even now he hasn't fully gotten over it, and neither have I. During those years my father searched for Evan for days but couldn't find him so they hired the best detectives and investigators in the country, perks of my father being a top lawyer. Not even they couldn't find him he had just vanished into thin air no trace, no nothing. My mother was a top tier super model and a business owner of crest fashion store in New York, everyone knew her and that meant everyone knew about the tragedy that happened. When she died I inherited everything including the none stop cameras that would be flashing in my face everyday with no privacy whatsoever. But I'm so glad that none of that would be happening for a while, my dad had put me under lock down the very same day everything happened, vowing to never let the same faith reach me as well. I was home schooled and everywhere I went I had to have 4 guards with me at all times, and was only allowed to go to places with little to no civilization, which meant that the only image that people had of me were the pics of me as a child, they did manage to snap a picture of my back once tho on my 16th birthday while I was in a jewelry store but that's all. I never got to have the childhood most kids dreamt about, instead I got scarred for life, a dad that barely acknowledged me and a lonely blank space deep within. Dad never moved on from my mother, he thought that it meant betraying her and replacing my brother if he were to ever remarry and have more kids. So I was surprised when a month ago he mentioned his fiance Lacy and her daughter Bree whom he had never bothered to tell me about until now, and I thought that was all until he told me that we'll be moving to Los Angeles tomorrow. Which is why I'm now standing in our empty house where my footsteps echoed with every step I made. ________________ Hope you liked this chapter Don't forget to leave a vote xx minimandy18
