Chapter 4: Not my type

1651 Words
"Why do I feel this way while she was there feeling all happy and bouncy everyday?" Nelson said almost to himself than to his friend before adding; "shouldn't I be happy for her instead?" "Isn't obvious that you have a thing for her?" Gabriel said seriously. "I mean, it could be love, who knows since you turned yourself into her despicable 'guardian angel' for over a year now". "Not a chance, there's no way I could develop a feeling of such towards her because she's not my type" Nelson defended sharply. "Oh, what type are you talking about? The type that you bribe her dates to abandon, claiming that you're testing their level of likeness and loyalty for her? Are you her father?" Gabriel tried to reason. "Stop it"Nelson yelled angrily which made Gabriel to almost gave up on the course of advising his friend, he knew that when Nelson was so pissed off; he could be so unreasonable. But he had to push forward, after all he was only trying to deliver his best friend from 'heart blindness' if there was any words like that because it seems that his friend's heart recognized what it truly wants but the owner of the heart couldn't see through it or feel his own heartbeats.  "Why? Is it because I touched the sour spot? Why don't you just just tell yourself the truth and admit to the obvious truth?". Gabriel teased with a raised brow while staring Nelson directly in the eyes as if daring him to deny it. "You don't know anything, Gabriel, so just shut the f***k up" Nelson said through gritted teeth as he stoop up from his chair and made his way towards the exit of the bar, his aura completely coated with anger.  Gabriel knew that both his best friend and the lady in question was hurting so much, so he proceeded to voice out his thoughts loudly before his friend's silhouette disappeared absolutely.  After saying what he wanted to say so loudly that not only Nelson could hear but everyone sited in the bar, he looked around him and saw the burning and curious gazes from people and so he smiled obnoxiously before tilting his head back to the table he and Nelson shared just few minutes ago.  Nelson had to call his driver Damian since he drank excessively. And through out the drive home, his thoughts kept reminiscing the last words from Gabriel before he left the bar....'stop doing this and talk to her or else you might encounter a stronger opponent that might not want to give her up no matter how much you offered".  Oh, yes, he heard him loud and clear, and his mind was battling with those words. As Damian pulled into his Villa and stopped in from of his Mansion, he almost ran inside as if he was being chased by a lion, he was in a hurry to get inside and think things through. He opened the mighty door that led to a hallway, he walked through it and then turned to his right while entering a wide and spacious room which was a sitting room. Nelson was young, powerful and well connected in the business world. He was a man that controlled things and could have his wishes fulfilled with the snap of his fingers. Everything was easy for him to solve, but why was this one so hard?. Although she was beautiful and considerably sexy with her slender waist and round protruding chest, Nelson couldn't believe what he was thinking at that moment; he was basically thinking of his secretary but he needed to do this in other to figure things out. And so he closed his eyes and tried to picture Olivia's features as she walks up to him with well arranged files in her hands. Compared to his own 6'5, she was unarguably short to him with her 5'8 height but it was totally okay as a lady. Her baby blue eyes always had a glint of sadness in them that usually made his heart bitter with an undefined words anytime he looked into it making him to wonder; what exactly was her story? He made a mental note to ask her when next they met as 'drinking buddies'. Nelson thought about so many things about that has happened for the past one year since that very night as he an answer without his 'heart' but still he couldn't detect the fault from his side at all. No, there shouldn't be any fault from his side because he has always dealt with matters accurately without any mistakes, If not he wouldn't have been able to turn his father's legacy into one of the the greatest companies in the country. He had to take over the affairs of the company at the young age of 19, after his father died of cancer. And 11 years later, the small company grew into a renowned corporation through his calculative thoughts and right decisions. His decisions had always been perfect and that should be the case with Olivia's.  First, he had no interest in her and secondly, he was only doing her a great favor by scrutinizing those after her with bad intentions. Only the one that passed the test stays and only then could his Job in her live be officially over. They both faced a heartbreak the same day and same night which indicated that they where meant to cross each other's part, thereby healing each other's wound. He got healed hearing soothing and comforting words from her that night.  But what if he finally finds a stronger opponent like Gabriel mentioned? That should be a good thing, right? Because anybody that doesn't accept his money and chooses to love her instead should be the best thing she she could ever ask for in her life, right? When that time comes he would gladly stay out of her life and find his own missing partner. Nelson concluded as he allowed his mind to run wide in thought          ******** "Sir, we have finally found her, she is 28 years old and her relationship status is single. She's currently leaving in Benson, the neighboring City"  A huge man in black suit with tattoos visible on his slightly opened chest, reported to a man that looked to be in his mid  fifties. The man in suit watched his master's facial expressions before continuing as he couldn't detect any emotions since the man's face was emotionless. "She and Peter are best of friends" Upon hearing the last words from the man in suit, James Steven's emotionless face widened with a smile as he pulled out his phone to call his beloved son. It was time to play with someone's emotions.         ********* Olivia sat down on her chair with her bubbly expressions still evident  in her aura, she decided to come to work a bit earlier since the next three days was going to be her days off. She did her work diligently while humming to a song that popped into her head but unfortunately everything died down when Nelson decided to show up early as well. Olivia's mind became uneasy after she greeted him, without him uttering any word in reply as his gaze lingered on her instead before turning on his heels and entered his office. Olivia felt like someone that has committed a serious crime but it was still early in the morning, so what offense could it be?. Nelson knew that the next three days was Olivia's off, which meant three days of not seeing her at all. Three days without his 'drinking buddy' and so he decided to go to the office early knowing fully well that she'd definitely be there. As he opened the door that led to his office and saw Olivia there, his heart leapt with joy for a moment with no reason at all which scared him a bit and so he stood there immovably as he stared at the young lady....trying to decipher the strange feelings within his heart but it was difficult to decode so he gave up and walked into his office instead. Nelson, wondered why he felt that way like he was about to loose something precious; 'was it because she was going away temporarily? She has always done that from time to time or was this one different?" He pondered. A gentle knock came to the door followed by Olivia pushing it open and entered. He slightly tilted his head to watch her walk up to his desk with some files in her hands as usual. She handed him the files to go through and sign, she talked about scheduled meetings and list of some other things that Nelson needed to keep in mind while she was gone, even though she wasn't the only secretary he had. While Olivia was busy reporting some matters to Nelson, he's mind was busy considering other things; like why and what made her absent this time around seemed so tensed  with some hidden disappointments. Then those words from Gabriel replayed itself in his head. And it occurred to him that he wasn't feeling the way he was because she was going away, but rather it was for the fact that she might come across a stronger opponent this time around. So his feelings towards her could be likened to that of a parent departing with their child. With that firm resolve in his mind, Nelson's mood finally became uplifted at least he managed to deceive his heart calming it down with his wise thoughts. He looked up to Olivia and gave her a genuine smile which made the young lady's heart to skip for a beat. The smile was so pure and heart warming that it made her to question what exactly was wrong with the psycho  sitting in front of her. 'why so much mood swings like a pregnant woman?'.
