It’s impossible to directly jump onto the bus with people trailing behind, especially if they are carrying guns. They did not expect that these puny villagers, who looked like they were from the old age, could carry and possess such arms. Though their guns were not the latest models that could hold many bullets at one time, they were still dangerous weapons. One hit on the head, or the heart, or any part of their body is equal to death. Once they get wounded, it would be very difficult to escape. With this, they have to change their plan to go directly to the bus. It not only gave them the worst position possible, it also allowed the villagers to hunt them like animals.
