Blurb

It all began on this day. It was unusually loud in the morning. Other days the the halls would be empty. The only sound heard the echo of footstep and Lydia. She was the the pride of the family and was spoilt. Even as a three year old child, she always has her way around and now she is ten and am eighteen."knock knock". I was a bit fritened. "little miss, the master has requested you come down for breakfast"That was father he had probably sent Hugo the Butler. "okay, I will be there in a while" Hugo left without saying anything. I adjusted the hem of my cloth. I must give him any reason to complain. I opened the door the door and nodded polity at them. Lydia looked at me. While my parent they didn't. We all ate breakfast in silence."you would be moving out of the house by noon. " I didn't need to ask. it was me. I was finally moving out of the house. I was pained."b...but where. Please father." I stammered. Searching desperately in his eyes to find an atom of.... But what was I desperate to find. Hope, trust. None of that existed. He looked at me with disgust and stood up along with my mother. "mother, please say something. I don't want to go anywhere." I clinged to her. I needed her to say something. Anything."smack" I was slapped. "do you think you have any right to say anything. After three years so you think everything would go back to normal. The best thing for you to do is to comply. Don't make things difficult for me. It's enough you were born. " those words hit hard. ************************************Three years ago. I was fifteen years old. Thing were not sour. I could laugh and chat with my family. It was indeed fun with little Lydia here. But then.. I killed a man. He tried to grab me and kiss me. I tried to run but he had already lock the restroom. I shouted and cried in desperation but on one was coming. I has to do something. Using all my force I pushed him. His forehead hit the edge of the sink he fell. The blood. His blood. I hurriedly went to him, trying to stop the blood. Then the restroom door flung open. Every one was there. Everyone. They didn't see a fifteen years old who was almost r***d. But instead they saw a fifteen years old who killed a man. A murderer. I could not forget the look in my parent eyes. The disgust. They lost everything - their reputation, name, face - everything. Every since then everything changed. " bang" I finally hit realisation. "what's that Philip" we were on our way to this new place. "nothing really. Just a bump." Ohh that's why. I looked out the window. I have no idea of this place. Tall buildings. There wasn't any woods here. So many cars. "where are we now. " I asked in curiosity."in the city very far from home."I was sad. Home. I guess it's something I lost in a bling of an eyes.It was a long drive. I felt hungry but we didn't stop to get food. The only time we stopped was to refill the tank and we continue the drive. We finally arrived. It was already past seven in the evening. I was sitted quietly in the waiting room for over thirty minutes now. "creak" someone entered the room and polity nodded. I stood up immediately. "am Mary. Your assistant ." what an "assistant" what does that suppose to mean. "W...what. please I don't need an assistant." I told her hoping to change her mind. If am not mistaken she would be in her forty's. "please follow me. I will take you to your room." I followed her without saying anything. We went to a room at the second floor. It was huge. I think it's a master room. This could fit up to five people. I was so tired. I took a shower and went to bed. ***************I woke up the next day. It was already past nine in the morning. "what, where am I." I got up from the bed. Checking the place out. I looked like a little girl who was busying opening up Santa presents for Christmas. "when you are done, come down stairs." before I could say a thing, he went out of the room. The room. What he was just coming out of the bathroom. Wait a minute did he just.... No its impossible.I took a shower got dressed and went downstairs. He was sitted at the dinning room having breakfast. I looked at him. So handsome. "aren't you hungry." he said to me. I sat down and started eating. After a while, we were done and two ladies came and clean the table. What now. Are we just going to sit down here doing nothing. I sighted Mrs Mary."good morning Ma'am Mary. Where's Philip." I stood up and greeted her. Just like how I would greet an elderly. But she didn't say anything. She only looked at the man who hasn't say anything then left. I was stunned. What just happened."so ridiculous. You have the guts to greet a maid while am sitted here." what a maid. "she's human too and also an elderly. It's the most respectful thing to do." I told him. "respectful.'' he chuckled. ''Then let me ask you Elowen. It is respectful to murder someone in cold blood."

beautiful beginning
"My lady, your parents are waiting downstairs." It was Hugo, his voice a gentle rumble that barely penetrated Elowen's reverie. Father must have sent him, no doubt with a thinly veiled warning about tardiness. Elowen suppressed a sigh. She knew she was late, but she couldn't bring herself to care. This was no ordinary party; it was the birthday banquet of Mr. Oliver, a close friend and business partner of Mr. Sinclair. An event of considerable importance, no doubt, yet Elowen had been relishing the exquisite agony of anticipation, taking her time with every detail of her elaborate attire. A thrill of excitement coursed through her as she finally deemed herself ready. With a radiant smile illuminating her face, Elowen burst from her room, her footsteps light and eager. This was it – her first birthday banquet! As she hurried down the grand staircase, Hugo's voice echoed behind her, laced with a familiar concern. "Mind your steps, my lady, lest you take a tumble." The drive to the birthday banquet was unusually quiet, a stark contrast to Elowen's bubbling excitement. Mrs. Elise, ever observant, noticed her daughter's barely contained energy. "Elowen," she said gently, her voice a soothing balm, "please stay close to me throughout the banquet. And remember, no running." Elowen beamed, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "I will, Mother! I'll be extra careful, and I'll stick to you like a gum." She giggled, picturing herself glued to her mother's side. Mr. Sinclair chuckled softly, a hint of amusement in his voice. "I wish you could stay with Lydia, instead. She misses you." Elowen's smile softened, a touch of guilt tugging at her heart. She loved Lydia dearly, her younger sister, but she wouldn't miss this banquet. "I know, Father, but I'm fifteen now, and you both promised I could come with you." She paused, a wistful expression on her face. Well, that was partly true. While she did want to experience the grandeur of the banquet, her primary motivation was to see Marcus, her childhood friend. A flutter of butterflies danced in her stomach. Everything was breathtakingly beautiful, a dazzling display of wealth and opulence. They must have spent a fortune on this, Elowen mused, her eyes wide with wonder. She glanced around, searching for her mother, eventually spotting her a short distance away, engaged in an animated conversation with a friend. Feeling a bit lost in the crowd, Elowen quietly took a seat, her mind drifting to thoughts of Marcus. A sigh escaped her lips. Perhaps he wasn't here after all. Disappointment pricked at her, a sharp contrast to the earlier excitement. Restlessly, she rose and ventured outside, seeking refuge in the tranquil garden. Maybe I should have just stayed home with Lydia, she thought, her steps faltering. No wonder Father was hesitant about me coming. "Hey, you finally made it!" The familiar voice sent a jolt of warmth through her, and her heart skipped a beat. It was Marcus! A radiant smile bloomed on her face. "Of course," she replied, her voice light and teasing. "I told you I would be here." Marcus's eyes sparkled as he took in her appearance, a genuine admiration in his gaze. "You look stunning, Elowen." A blush crept up her cheeks, and she averted her eyes shyly. "Thank you, Marcus." They chatted about the party, their laughter mingling with the gentle rustling of leaves. It was, indeed, a wonderful night after all, made all the more special by his presence. Marcus was two years her senior, but their age difference seemed insignificant in the face of their deep connection. They had shared a remarkable bond, their friendship stretching back as far as she could remember, woven with shared secrets, laughter, and unwavering support.
