"Your wife left the house in Mr. Turner’s car" the butler in charge of the house informed Edith and left.

Edith furrowed his eyebrows angry and throws the car key in his hand against the wall in anger.

He called his secretary, Simon and asked him to make some findings on Silas Everett his wife best friend who he recently finds out his existence after she took off with his at the hospital

"Everything about his family, businesses and association" Edith added

“I will continue to take care of everything for a while sir but you need to return to the hospital to continue with the treatment before…”

“It is not for you should worry about, I know my body well" Edith cut him off and continue to give him more instruction.

"I want you to monitor my wife's every move and report back to me, also what happened to the car I was driving on the day of the accident?"

"The car was scraped by the chairman and nothing unusual was found" Simon answered and Edith end the call.

He detect that something is fishy about his accident and decide to focus on that first while making sure to correct his wrongdoings and mistakes.

He relaxed his body on the massaging seat and closed his eyes briefly flashing back to Velma's visit to the hospital and how she almost killed him.

Edith inhaled and opened his eyes with utter despair; he remembered some bitter memories and couldn’t but blame himself for his foolishness and hope to correct his mistakes but not with Nelson in view

He wondered what Nelson is trying to achieve by returning to the main house when he forcefully left the house against grandfather’s will and even spoke with Velma.

Thinking back, Edith couldn’t help but suspect Nelson and thought on what to do to make sure he and Velma never meet again after this…

"Miss Betty, young master is in the other room" Edith heard one of the maids mention and stood up from the chair.

Betty knocks gently on the door and comes in; she has her usual kind smile on with cream colored suit and wore heels.

Looking the man who she has been tending to for the past two months suddenly standing in front of her looking all better; Betty is overwhelmed but quickly switched back to her innocent smile and ran into his arms.

"Edith, I am so glad you are safe" she said wrapping her arms around him and didn't expect to be pushed to the ground the next second.

"Edith?"

"Ah, Boss I didn't mean to disrespect you" she said and quickly gets to her feet.

She has been taking care of him for so long now, there is no way he will not recognize her efforts.

"I went home to attend to some business last night and heard that you left after I returned" she lied.

"Is that so? Then why haven't you called since then?" Edith asked playing along and returned to his seat

"I didn't want to disturb you, I figured you will want to spend some time with your family" she answered recounting the words she already reenacts in her head

"I am sorry I left some work undone, I had to stay with you at the hospital everyday so I couldn't finish them. Sister..." She said and paused expecting him to immediately get agitated and annoyed by the mention of Velma so she can continue but didn’t get that but noticed a smile on his face instead

"Velma told me about her sickness" Edith respond to her utter surprise.

"Did she? I had no idea; I haven't seen her after she went to visit her man friend so..."

"What man friend?" Edith asked in his usual displeased tone and Betty smiled to have gotten the right reaction from him.

"I think his name is Silas, he is her man friend or something, anyways they seemed close" she continued eagerly expecting Edith to start cursing her out.

"Everett, I sure know him. The two has been friends for a while now" he replied rather calmly and Betty's jaw dropped.

"I see you two know each other" she said embarrassed without words to continue, she expected him to respond in a different way so she can be able to take that chance to scold Velma while assuring him that she is not that kind of a girl

"I was so worried when you were unconscious, I had to go to the hospital everyday and look after you, I thought something bad was going to happen to you” Betty quickly thought of a comeback and moved closer to him but Edith immediately stopped her before she come any closer.

"Thank goodness you are well now" she said feeling more embarrassed by his coldness, before he was hospitalized he used to treat her more fairly than this

“What compensation do you need for your efforts?” Edith said with a smile on his stony face, he didn’t want her to be scared off and suspect anything

“How can I ask you for anything? I need nothing in return for taking care of my boss, all I ask is that I…”

“It’s good if you don’t want anything at all, I guess a few bonuses should be enough then” Edith cut in understanding where she is going to.

Her request will be to stay by his side and in his foolishness, he would have let her have her way just to spite Velma and lose out on everything he ever desired for

"You can take your leave now" he said to a stunned Betty who still couldn’t wrap her head around what just happened but could only watch as her efforts for the past two months go to waste without achieving anything at all

Unable to do anything for now, Betty slowly walk away from the room and bumped into Doris who seems to have been eavesdropping on them.

"What are you doing here?" Betty asked irritated to see her there

Doris looked left and right suspiciously to be sure no one is around them and pulls Betty with her to a more secluded part of the house despite her resistance.

"What is wrong with you?" Betty shouts at her

"Did he suspect anything?" She questioned worried but Betty refused to answer and continued to maintain her silence

“Remember if I go down, you are also not going to escape freely so it is better you start talking” Doris yells at her riled up.

Betty smirks and smiles a little knowing that she still has leverage on one member of the family and decided to deceive her into believing she has a hold on Edith even when she can’t figure out his thinking

“What else can he suspect? He still believes it is an accident, just until I reveal to him that his sister is behind it” Betty laughed contemptuously and Doris could only grind her teeth in anger

"Tell me what you want" she is forced to ask and a self-satisfied smirk appeared on Betty’s face

“Let’s say a million dollars for a starter with…”

“Have you lost your mind? How can you ask me for such a huge amount of money? I don’t have it” Doris snapped

“Are you sure you are not able to take such a little amount of money from the ones you stashed away from the company” Betty retorted throwing her off again and Doris could only heave loudly and succumbs to her demands

“What do you need such a huge amount of funds for?”

“I think Edith has woken up a long time ago and also kept it from everyone of us, that is why we were taken aback to see him up on his feet all of a sudden” she answered and Doris also reasoned the same thing.

“That really make a lot of sense but if he has been awake for long why would he not want anybody to know?” Doris queried

“Obviously he must have suspected something is wrong but that is not the actual problem now” Betty told her

“Then what is?”

“I have to find out just how much he has heard while I was staying with him at the hospital and know how to proceed from now on”

“Did you chatter away the truth to him while he was unconscious?” Doris questioned raising her voice.

“Don’t shout in my ear, I didn’t say anything that will implicate you just a few things about me” Betty answered remembering the numerous things she said just to help him regain consciousness.

“Do you really like my brother? I thought it is just a sham to get yourself in his bed and become his mistress so your child can become his heir” Doris said mocking her but Betty ignored her sarcasm

“Wire the money to my account by tomorrow morning and remember to tell Edith but I will resume to work on Monday due to a family issue” she said and halt a taxi which takes her away.

“Why do I have to get involved with that crazy girl?” Doris sighed shaking her phone and answered her call.

“Ma’am, I sent the evidence to your phone” one of her men said and she end the call to check

In the picture sent to her is shown Betty purchasing a drug and more pictures showing how she tried to kill Velma by pushing her off the stairs in an attempt to kill her?

Doris laughed out loud like a crazy person after looking through them and made a call to the other person to hold on.

Now that she has solid evidence on Betty, she wouldn’t let herself be threatened anymore and also deal with her in her own way.

Even if Edith finds out she ordered the attack then not only her who will be going down, she is going to make sure they all go down together.

Doris proceeds inside the house smiling to herself and stopped when she entered into the main apartment.
