"I will do you the last honor of serving you the poison myself” Edith said and forces Velma's mouth open then pour the content down her throat Velma coughs out the drink kicking the cup out of his hand in a fix which angered him and he slapped her across the face. Velma sees the hatred in Edith's eyes and is horrified that after five good years, he still hates her so much and dread the thought of dying right here in his hands. Edith took the bottle of poison and forced the content down her throat, then grabbed her shoulders tightly and whispered into her ears. "You can have a nice life with your lover in hell" he smirked and pushed her to the floor, leaving her to die. Velma lay lifeless as the poison kicked in with tears in her eyes, reflecting on her life as his wife for the past years. He has never acknowledged her as his wife and has always looked down on her, despite the fact that she has given him and his family all of her inheritance and wealth. She did everything she could to love and satisfy him, but he never treated her right. She took her last breath and gave up the ghost. ~ Velma's eyes opened faintly, accompanied by intense pain in her head; she attempted to speak, but her voice came out as a tiny whisper. She slowly turned her head and realized she was not alone in the room, so she paused to listen to their conversation. "She could die if we leave her here; you need to take her to the hospital for better treatment," the first voice said, and Velma recognized her as her sister-in-law, Doris. "We do not have the money to waste on her minor injury right now; we have spent enough taking care of her husband," her mother-in-law, Felicia, replied, her tone hostile. Let's go and have lunch if we are not taking her to the hospital then, I can't stand the smell of her room" Doris said again "We will come back in the evening to see if she really died and have her body buried next to her father" her father-in-law said in a low, mean tone, as the three walked out of the room, waiting for her to die. The sound of a mosquito singing to her ears caused Velma to open her eyes after some time and she suddenly remembered that she was poisoned. What is going on?” she asked herself and held her stomach but felt no pain and sit up on the bed. She took a few seconds to realize she is back in her dumpster-sized room, where she had lived for years as the Maddox family's invisible daughter-in-law. "Why am I back here?" Velma wondered perplexed, how come she is still living in hell after her death. "Clap" She slapped her cheek feeling the pain from a mosquito bite and realized that she is not in heaven nor is she dreaming, she is really back in the prison she is most terrified of Velma rushed out of the bed and made her way through the dirt in the room towards the bathroom, she stood in front of the dusty mirror and stare at her strange old face. "Am I back to the past?" She shouted perturbed She touched her long hair and screamed with joy, she jumped around for a few seconds before coming back to her senses and looked into the mirror again. She came out of the bathroom again and went to find her phone; she scurried around the room looking for it and finally finds it under the bed. Checking the time, Velma saw that it's the year 2019 which means she is back in time by four years and suddenly the memories of the things that has happened in the past returned back to her "5th of August" she read, wondering why she returned to this particular year and sits down to remember clearly. "That's right" Velma stood up from the bed, around this time she just married into the Maddox family and her husband got into an accident soon after which left him bedridden for six months now. After he returned, he did not only support his family's evil act against her but starts to maltreat her and keep her locked up daily until her best friend, Silva came to rescue her but end up losing his life because of her. Tears fall from Velma's eyes as she remembered those painful memories and she sink to the floor. She was a fool to have fallen in love with Edith and got married to him despite the fact that he doesn't love her and even endure a lot of humiliation to earn his trust so she doesn't end up getting divorced. Velma stood up from the floor after a few minutes and cleaned her eyes, now that she is lucky to be given a second chance by God then she must take revenge on Edith and his family. Every one of them that caused her pain in the past is going to regret ever messing with her. Velma entered the bathroom again and took a long bath despite the cold water, she used the last of the body cream in her room and push aside the dirt together and stepped out of the room. "What is taking the food long to be done?" Doris shouted impatiently at the maid who immediately apologized and start to serve the food. The three of them sat down at the dinning and are about to dig into the food when they saw Velma walk up behind them. "What!" "You are up? I thought you are really going to die this time" Doris said nonchalantly and placed the plate of eggs in front of her. "I thought you are dying, were you pretending so we can waste money on you?" Felicia lashed out at her and scoffed "Come and eat something, you look so skinny" Maddox said and asked the maid to put out a table for her. Velma watched as they make awful comments at her and shook her head slowly then takes a seat "Uncle, I am back" Betty announced as she stepped into the room and stopped when she saw Velma. Velma also turned around horrified to hear a voice she despised so much, it is Betty, her stepsister and also her husband's secretary who later became pregnant for him and made her filed for a divorce. "Sister, you are awake" Betty said in her usual soft and kind manner and sat next to Velma She got to work for Edith through Velma and because of her loveable nature; she became a part of the family in no time and even comes over whenever she is free. "How are you feeling now? I was so scared when you didn't wake up for a long time and thought maybe you are dead" she cried making a scene. In the past, Velma would have thought she really cared and play along but now she knows better. "Why would you think I am dead? I was just a little sick" Velma told her and pushed her hands away "Sister, are you angry because I wasn't here to take care of you for the past few days? I am so sorry, it's because I was busy taking care of Edith that's why I couldn't make it here often" she said with tears in her eyes. "Velma, how can you be so shameless? She has been taking care of your husband for so long while you just stayed at home, what right do you have to criticize her?" Doris yelled and immediately starts to console Betty. "You don't have to feel bad, she is just a bad woman" she said "Don't say that Miss Doris; I am sure sister doesn't mean it that way. It is my fault for..." "What exactly is your fault?" Velma cut her off not able to go on listening to her nonsense "Huh?" "Why exactly are you apologizing to me? You don't owe me anything" Velma said and she is lost of words to answer. "You think you have not done wrong? You didn't take care of your husband and let her sister bear all the burden of taking care of him" Felicia snapped at her. "Edith is also your son, why don't you stay at the hospital to take care of him?" Velma yelled back at her surprising everyone "Have you gone crazy? Did you just raise your voice at me?" Felicia asked shocked. "I was sick for days without any proper treatment and you are blaming me for not taking care of my husband" Velma said wondering why she didn't notice their hypocrisy in the past and just keep following their orders. She must have been so desperate to satisfy them and make them like her that she forgot herself. "Keep quiet and stopping talking at the dinning" Maddox shouts at everyone "Betty, take a seat and have lunch with us" he invited and Betty nodded still looking at Velma. "I won't be eating lunch with you all, I have somewhere to be" Velma announced and stood up from her seat "Where are you off to?" Felicia questioned and they all turned to her. Velma looked at the many pairs of eyes staring at her and decides that now isn't the time to be stubborn so she told them she is off to visit Edith instead. She just wants to leave the house immediately and clear her head. "Don't come back late, I don't want people to say my daughter-in-law isn't disciplined" Maddox told her and she walk away but Betty followed her "Sister, are you really angry with me? I am sorry I didn't know you will really hate the fact that I am taking care of Edith instead of you" Betty said grabbing her hands. "Edith?" Velma said and stares at her "Ah I meant brother-in-law, because he is my boss and we work together all day I got used to calling him by his name" Betty said not realizing that she will call her out on that "I guess everyone at work calls him like that" Velma said "No it's just me, since we are family he asked me to call him by his name" Betty replied blushing "You should go back inside and eat with the others, I will be back soon" Velma said but Betty held on "No, I will rather follow you to visit brother-in-law. I don't want you to be alone again" "I will be just fine" Velma rejected and push her hands away calmly then walk out of the gate while Betty stares at her back with mixed feelings.
