A day to the birthday party, Velma received a dress from Betty as expected and a contradicting arrival time for the party.

Velma put the dress and for sure there was a problem with it, the long dress had slacked and to top it all it was fake, after it was discovered that she is putting on a fake dress, Velma tried to run out of embarrassment but someone stepped on it and it ripped right in front of everyone leaving her chest naked.

Mortified, she had to stay in a room to hide and Betty send someone to bring her a drink so she could calm down but she end up falling asleep till the next morning and wakes up to find Nelson sleeping beside her.

Not a lot of people know about what happened because Nelson made sure to cover it up but the Maddox family became aware and haunt her with it forever

Tears dropped from Velma’s eyes as she remembered the humiliation she has endured in the past and she bought out another dress similar to the one Betty sent to her, she already managed to get the original dress and picked the purse given to her by her mother on her wedding day to match it.

After rubbing Betty’s face in the mud, Velma planned to get a divorce with Edith and gain her freedom so when she starts to get her revenge on the Maddox family she won’t have any attachment to them.

She received a call from Silas asking her the time for the party tomorrow and she told him then put the dress away and called Sue so she can go with her also.

Betty entered the company in the afternoon still on her paid leave by Edith and presents everyone with the drinks she bought, a number of them are happy to see her since they are aware of her private relationship with their boss and getting on her bad side wouldn’t do them any good.

She chatting for a while, she invited everyone to the birthday party she is throwing tomorrow implying that it is just a party for herself

It’s a weekend and it is just convenient for everyone to come there

She needs as many people from the company to be there so they could witness the disaster that would befall Velma tomorrow.

She head into Edith’s office and also invited him to the party but purposely lied about the party being organized by Velma

“I hope you don’t mind Mr. Maddox” Betty said in her usual pretentious meek voice.

She is aware Velma wouldn’t have told Edith about the party since they don’t have a good relationship and must be planning to attend alone, she just need to convince him to go with her to the party instead.

“Her birthday is tomorrow?” Edith repeated with a furrowed brow, he has never keep track of it

“I tried to convince sister to invite you for the party but she refused and told me to keep it away from you” Betty added to fuel things.

“If she said that then why are you telling me about it? Edith questioned and Betty is thrown back.

“I just meant that…why won’t she tell you about the party? Not unless she is planning to go with another…” she said and pursed her lips nervous.

She did not plan to say that but hearing him defending her again, she could not control her lips from saying anything despicable against her.

Edith frown deepen hearing her mention another man and he clench his fists in anger which made Betty smile.

He always lose his cool whenever she mention Velma being with other men and when things go according to her plan tomorrow he will definitely not want to have anything to do with her forever.

“Give the time and location for the party, I will be going with you” he said and Betty’s face lighten

She walk out of the office with a smile not believing that she actually pull through with that, she has been worried about how indifferent he has been to her since he regain consciousness but it seemed she has been thinking too much.

But she has one more task and that is to find a way to make Velma come to the party with another man…

At ten minutes past five, Betty walk into the party hall with Edith in hand beaming with pride as everyone set their eyes on them.

The music is paused for a moment as she wanted it to be and it draw more eyes to them like she had planned.

Everyone looked with agape eyes and murmurings soon start as they wonder what on earth is going on and why she had walked in with Edith Maddox hands around her arm, there is no way their relationship is only that of sister-in-law and brother-in-law.

Betty walks over to her friends whom she has bragged so much about being adored by the heir of Maddox Company and hugged each one of them with a big smirk on her face. She could see the shock visibly on their faces.

Her plan is working perfectly, even without her saying it; people are already assuming it.

“I’m sure you know Mr. Edith Maddox” she introduced and smile at Edith who look unfazed.

The guests from work watch perplexed at the situation of things and few move close to try and inquire about what is happening

“Mr. Edith was kind enough to offer to accompany me” she told them.

“My sister has been so busy taking care of other business and so I have been responsible for brother-in-law well being for a while now” she said in her fake meek voice and sound like she is being forced to do so.

“Is that what you have been telling everyone sister?”

Betty turned around as she heard Velma’s voice and is a bit astounded to see her there at that time. She is supposed to come by six and by that time, she would have successfully convinced everyone about how she had bullied her by snatching her man and neglect the same man after marriage to mess around with others.

“Velma?’ she called with a nervous chuckle forgetting to call her in the usual sweet way and excused herself to go meet her.

Velma notice Edith standing few feet away from Betty and isn’t very surprised to see him there, the two must have had a blast flaunting their hideous relationship in front of everyone

“It seems the party has already started, did you make a mistake with the time you sent to me” she inquired and Betty chuckle nervously.

She soon lighten up seeing that Velma is putting on the dress she sent her and decide that the time she arrived doesn’t matter, the party is still going to go in the way she planned it

Silas step into the room after driving the car to the parking lot and joined Velma; Betty smiled seeing that and immediately draws everyone’s attention to them

“Who is this? Is he your date?” she remarked and glance over her shoulder to see if Edith is looking in their direction and fortunately he is.

Velma chuckle at her treacherous act, she is trying to make her into a dirty skunk now and cause another misunderstanding between her and Edith, albeit, she did not care much. If she wants him so much, she would gladly give Edith to her.

“Why would you bring another man to our birthday party despite being married sister?’ she state again and Velma could see the mischievous smirk on her face.

“And you came with my husband knowing that he’s married to me sister, are you having an affair with my husband or trying to fool everyone here to believe that?” Velma throws the accusations back at her.

Betty is rendered speechless for a moment, she was expecting Velma to defend herself but attack her in the same way

Hearing what Velma just said, everyone begin to change their thoughts on Betty and Edith, even if Velma snatched her man and got married to him she should still learn to keep away and not chase after a married man.

“How could you think like that sister? There is really nothing between me and brother-in-law” she stuttered and looked at Edith for help but it doesn’t look like he is willing to do that.

“You are the one who neglected Brother-in-law and I had to take care of him, after all, he’s…”

“Of course, you work for him. It is your duty as his secretary to take care of his affairs but shouldn’t that be limited to official works” Velma cut in.

“Sister, I really don’t have such intentions. I have no idea that you will take our closeness that way” she cried and some starts to pity her.

After all Velma herself didn’t do anything great, how can she blame someone else for taking care of her husband while she does nothing to play all day?

“I guess I was being too sensitive, my apologies sister” Velma said sounding apologetic and Betty growl inwardly.

She glance round the crowd and she could hear them whispering the word ‘secretary’ her friends are staring at her with disbelief gazes and she clench her fist taking a breath

“Why don’t I get your guest a drink?” Betty said trying to change the focus and Sue also popped up beside him

“I won’t bother you with that” Silas said and beckon to Velma to go with him and get something to drink

“Mr. Everett”

They turn to Edith who has just spoken as he walked over to them settling his eyes on Silas who still held his hand out to Velma

“It’s nice to meet you” he said gently taking his hand in a shake and Silas nod slightly

Velma and Betty also look on not sure what is happening and wonder what Edith is up to but Velma hope he won’t try to fight Silas in the presence of everyone.

“Do you know him?’ Betty queried thinking of this as an opportunity but her hope is dashed by Edith’s next words

“Yes, He’s a close friend of my wife, how can I not?’ he said like it is nothing and Velma is astound again.

When did he start to care about her friends? And why is he being indifferent this evening?

Edith walks over to Velma holding a smiling face and slid his arms around her waist while everyone watch eagerly.

“You look beautiful sweetheart” he said and plants a kiss on her forehead stunning everyone including Velma who stay freeze under his grip.

Velma stare at him perplex and wondering what on earth is happening, could he be acting like this because she took care of him a few nights ago?
