If a publisher asks for an excerpt, then they will also want a synopsis. Some also want a synopsis with the full manuscript. First and foremost, a blurb is not a synopsis! If your synopsis is a paragraph long, then it’s too short.

If something happens in the story that impacts the characters or the plot, then it needs to be touched on in the synopsis.
