Ada and the Grumpy Old Gnome
Chapter One: The Sparkling Village
In a tiny village that gleamed like a handful of stars fallen from the sky, there lived a curious little girl named Ada. She had long pink hair that danced when the wind played with it, and her big blue eyes sparkled like the streams that sang endlessly in the nearby forest.
“George, can we go to the woods today? Pleeeease?” Ada begged, sitting cross-legged on the kitchen floor. Her older sister, George, was tall for her age, with short, curly brown hair that bounced when she walked, and clever green eyes that always seemed busy solving mysteries no one else could see.
“Only if you promise to help clean the kitchen afterward,” George replied, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow. “Remember the flour explosion from last time?”
Ada giggled and nodded. “I promise! No flour storms today.” She tugged on her favorite rainbow-colored boots and grabbed a small basket for berry collecting.
Outside their home, the air smelled like warm honey and blooming flowers. The village was surrounded by a thick, magical forest where sunlight peeked through the leaves, painting golden patterns on the ground. Ada liked to believe the trees whispered secrets when the wind blew through them.
As the sisters stepped into the forest, the trees seemed to stretch taller, their green leaves swaying gently. The sound of birds singing filled the air, and Ada walked ahead, humming a tune she had made up herself. George followed behind, always keeping an eye on her little sister, though she couldn’t help but admire how brave and curious Ada was.
