Chapter Four

1049 Words
Maya’s POV When we walked into the castle like building, I saw several buff men standing at each corner of the mansion. They all looked so serious and had this air of superiority, like they knew something I would never know. A man with a small physique rushed toward us with so much excitement. "Hello, I am Sebastian, the butler." He gestured with his hands. "Welcome, welcome." He seemed extremely happy to see us. My dad scowled though, and I wondered what crawled up his ass and died. "Hi." I stretched forth my hand to shake him. But... "Miss Maya, come this way. I will show you to your room." He bypassed my hand and started heading up the stairs. That was when I noticed the stairs, the goddamn stairs that always made me fall. There was no way I didn’t expect to see a staircase here; the mansion was pretty big, or castle, as I would call it. "It’s beautiful." Again, that same voice in my head, that echo. "We will be so happy here, I can’t wait to meet MATE." Mate? What the hell is that? I scoffed in my mind. "You will obviously wait, because you are too cowardly to come out to meet whatever it is you want to meet." Great, I am now talking to myself. Wonderful. We got to the corridor, and I saw a flight of rooms. He took me to a room at the far left corner. It looked kind of secluded, just what I wanted. I entered the room with Sebastian behind me, holding my luggage. The room was definitely designed with black as the theme in mind. Whoever designed this had great taste, a wonderful one in fact. "I love it, it’s stunning. Thank you." I nodded to Sebastian. He seemed shocked. "Miss, there is no need to thank me. I am not the one that designed the theme. I didn’t do anything at all," he said with a small voice. I wondered why this man gave me the feeling that I needed to protect him. He was in his thirties, for crying out loud, but he seemed so small. It should be his stature, I was sure. "But you are the one that took me here, and you dragged my luggage behind you, so I can tell you thank you," I gently explained to him. He nodded and literally scurried out of my room. Hmm... weird. I opened the massive closet with the intention of putting my box there to be arranged later, because I was really tired. But to my surprise, I found clothes in it already, and they were all my size. It was even the style of clothes that I liked. This place was beginning to surprise me. It seemed like they knew I was coming or got my information from somewhere. Maybe they got it from my dad. My dad was acting strange, and I didn’t get it. It was almost as if he didn’t want to be here, like he was hiding from something. I have always been intuitive, so I usually knew when something was up. I heard a knock on the door. "Come in," I shouted. The girl walked in. She looked like Sebastian, not in the face but in the manner she walked, that small, easy to hurt way. I think I am getting the pattern of how people look in this castle. There are people that look extremely buff and people that look small or feel small, because I think I am only an inch taller or so than her. "Miss, it’s time for dinner. Are you coming down?" She bowed. And also, why are these guys treating me like I am some sort of royalty or something? "I am coming down. Do you perhaps know where my father is?" I looked at her, waiting for a response. "No, miss." She bowed again. I was getting annoyed. I didn’t like the fact that my father had started acting sketchy. He was doing that thing he always did where he would just change into a different person. I walked down the stairs without tripping, feeling proud. I went through a hallway, trying to find the dining room. I saw a bunch of people with that small stature in a room that looked like the kitchen. I stopped at the door and beckoned to one of the girls there. "Uhmm... hi, I am looking for the dining room, please." The girl looked at me weirdly and pointed in the direction. I walked toward that direction and got to the dining room, which was massive. It was almost as big as half my house, or even bigger. While I was marvelling at the beauty of the dining room, I locked eyes with a girl. She was beautiful, but her eyes gave me a weird feeling. She sat on one of the chairs with an air of utter confidence, like she owned the place or something. "Hello, and who may you be? I didn’t hear of any new maid." She scrunched her nose as she looked me up and down. "Also, why are you here? Aren’t you meant to be in the kitchen?" She squinted at me. I was extremely annoyed. She just looked down on me, someone she didn’t even know, but I have never been good with words. "Ehmm... I just..." A woman walked in and sat down next to the chair with the wolf howling on it. She turned to address the girl who was two seats down. "Stella, would you please leave the young girl alone? And also, you are not the Luna of this pack, so you don’t have the right to question anyone." Stella looked furious but could say nothing, probably because this woman was higher than her in rank. "Maya, please sit down," she beckoned to me. I quickly walked to the seat she pointed to, which was opposite her seat. Stella looked at me, furious, and said, "Why does she get to sit there? That is for the Luna." I wondered about all these words they had been throwing around. It was strange and sounded like they were in a cult or something. Where the hell did my dad bring me to?
