IN BIG STRIDES, Sady walked through the corridors of the doga building.
The guard who had come to get him sounded disturbed, as if on top of Lana’s disappearance, on top of the fact that he’d received no reply from the Knight Council about his request for assistance, on top of the lack of correspondence from Loriane, on top of the fact that all telegraph lines were out to the south as well as the north, there could be any worse news to relay.
Sady had been interrupted in a meeting with General Selidas who detailed the state of affairs with the increasingly bold border incursions by Arania and the increasingly heavy replies necessary to repel them. The word was that a southern eagle had arrived with a rider.
