Everyone had waited anxiously for them to come out and finally setting their eyes on them as they come out of the closed door one after the other, everyone went to meet who mattered to them.
Jake watched as Hailey hugged her brothers tightly. Hazel looked so happy to see Kyle and she practically forgot about Jake standing there as she followed Kyle and Javion. He saw how much she seemed to care about the brothers and she wondered if she ever cared for him like that. Winning her back now seemed like a lost battle already.
“Don’t ever scare us like that again!” she chastised and Kyle just nodded, pretending his brother wasn’t there. For the first time in his life, he had been so close to death and the only person who was there for him was his brother. Even his mother didn’t show up.
