She was taken to the master's mansion, she heard voices coming from the sitting room as she walked in. She met Robert, the Alpha and the Lycan king seated around the table. They stopped talking as they saw her enter the room.
"My daughter!" Robert exclaimed. "The Lycan king would take proper care of you, okay?" He faked a smile at her and her stomach turned in disgust.
The Lycan looked at her and it made her heart swell. That damned mate bond! She wondered what business this had with the Alpha.
"We have come to finalize the deal with him" Robert said as if reading her mind. She saw papers on the table.
"You actually sold me" she said in disbelief and anger. "You actually sold your daughter. How much did he give you?" Silence filled the room.
"Why is the Alpha with you? Don't tell me he has a hand in this madness!" She had to ask. "Where is Jake? Is he aware you are here?"
"Shut up" the Lycan king quietly ordered. "You…are…not…allowed…to…speak."
"The deal has been finalized," he continued. "I called for you so you could witness that I now have the ownership of you, you have been paid for in full" his gaze was fixed on the table. "You can all leave".
She stopped Robert as he scurried out of the building. "Do you not even care about where she is? Is all you wanted money?" He gave no reply and walked away. Tears filled Hazel's eyes as she thought about how much of a similar situation she was in, her stepmother would never even think to look for her.
"Follow me!" The Lycan king's voice echoed from behind her. She hurried after him through the bushes his long legs easily striding, by the time she got into a garden at the back she saw him already standing in the middle, backing her.
"Are you really going to leave me in that place with the others?" She asked as she quietly approached him. "Am I really the same as the rest to you?"
The mouthwatering scent of her mate filled her nose as she approached him. He turned to her.
"I, Lycan King Javion O'Hara, reject you, Hazel Caddel, as my mate and Luna" he said, glaring at her. Hazel's eyes widened in surprise as she stood before him. Her heart throbbed.
"What?!" She shouted. "You're rejecting me?"
"I believe you're not stupid enough to imagine that I'll ever mark you or make you my Queen" he said coldly.
What had she thought was going to happen? She laughed at herself inwardly. She was such an i***t. His gaze was strong, boring into her.
"You knew my name, Caddel, you know I'm not the one you bought."
"I don't care" he replied "you took your friend's place and decided to get sold instead of her. It makes no difference to me."
"My name is not that on the papers you signed, the agreement is null and void." She stated plainly while her heart throbbed in fear.
He slowly approached her until he was face to face with her. "When your friend returns, she will be killed…" he paused "and so will you"
Her heart fell. He was right. It was either she stayed and kept her friend away, regardless of the contract or speak the truth and be killed for aiding the escape of a wolf from her pack.
"I, Lycan King Javion O'Hara, reject you, Hazel Caddel, as my mate and Luna" he repeated, looking her dead in the eye. She didn't show any reaction to his words.
She forced herself to look up at him, straightening her shoulders "I. Hazel Caddel, accept your rejection, Lycan King Javion O'Hara." She said firmly. It was for the best. Jake will come to save her soon…
She felt a sharp pain striking deep into her core. Like a physical blow rippling through her body, starting from her chest and spreading like wildfire through her veins. It feels as if her very essence is being torn apart, her heart shredded into countless pieces.
The Lycan grimaced strongly and she figured that he would be going through a similar experience as a result of the severance of their mate bond. She fell to the ground clutching her chest and he stumbled away.
She eventually managed to walk back to her residence as the pain subsided. The lady locked the door behind her. She sighed as she saw her breakfast on the stool next to her bed. Was this the way her life was going to be now? She was going to be used as his s****l rag with all these women here. She wasn't ever going to see Jake again. Now she had no mate and was as unsafe as every girl here. She had hoped that their mate bond would change some certain things with the Lycan King but now he had rejected her she wanted nothing to do with him anyway. Everything she had felt had been due to the mate bond, now she despised him.
Was there no hope at all?
Was Jake not going to try at all to save her?
She was terrified of this place.
She waited until it was dark before she climbed out of her window. She used all her years of experience she had gotten from her wretched home. She needed to see Jake.
She managed to escape the countless Lycans around the estate and out the gate but not without losing her scarf. She ran through the forest, the same path which they had crossed while coming here. She reached her town and ran straight to the Alpha's house, she snuck in through the gate. It was something she was used to, those countless nights when Jake would call her into his room and she would have to sneak past the guard betas. Her hear swelled in nostalgia from the path leading towards Jake's room. She snuck past the betas at the door to his residence and was about the climb the bedroom window.
She stopped when she heard a sound coming from his bedroom.
"...you can't just abandon her there, father." It was Jake's voice. He was talking to his father against what he did to her! She got excited.
"Why do you care so much about the girl, Jake?" His father's voice boomed.
"I've been with her since middle school, father!"
"You never really liked her, we only wanted to use her because it'll be easier to dispose of her without suspicion when the time for the ritual comes and your heir is born, is that not so?" His father said and Hazel's lips parted in, shock. She couldn't believe her ears. "It's a good thing that her father was taken care of on time when he found out about our plans but now you should let go of her. The Lycan King has her already and there's nothing that can be done about it!"
Hazel's eyes widened with disbelief as they filled with tears.
'Taken care of'? Was her father…'taken care of' by Jake? Was the love of her life the one who had put her father's head on a stake…?
She stumbled on a piece of wood laying on the wall, causing an audible noise and she heard them go quiet. She began running the direction she had come, tears spilling down her face.
She should've known there was something odd about the pack having no Luna for over 5 generations.
She made it out of the gate and headed towards the forest. Horrible thoughts going wild in her mind. Images of her father's bloody head on a stake at the square ran through her head, she took a break and fell to her knees, crying loudly. That means that she was the cause of her father's death. Because her father had discovered her boyfriend's evil plan to kill her and use her for a ritual. She suddenly felt a strong hand spin her around, causing her to fall. It was the Lycan king. Her master.
He saw the tears in her eyes and his eyes softened in worry. She began to sob loudly again and he crouched up and pulled her to him, wrapping his strong arms around her…
