I did not dare let my guard down for even a second. I stepped as lightly as a feather, tiptoeing slowly out of the bedroom, and lifted my hand to flip on the living room light.
The second my fingertip brushed the switch, a searing blow crashed into the back of my head.
A muffled grunt tore out of my throat. My vision blurred to black, and I almost crumpled to the floor.
