He paused, hands on the steering wheel. Last year, letting Aileen have the upper hand would’ve made him question his judgement. Now the warm feeling in his chest deflated any guilt that had ever existed. Callan’s eyes strayed to the paper on the other seat, flapping a picture. Change – sometimes it snuck up on you. Sometimes the loss and gain of something unique changed you, like waves lapping at a boat, slowly drifting it off course. Callan shook his head. Since when did he indulge in poetry? Mad – the circumstances were driving him to insanity. Blaine had pushed him over the fence, taught him the importance of friendship. And he hadn’t found Blaine yet.
