Chapter Sixteen

"Michael?", Samael uttered the name of the newly arrived angel in shock.

He used his ability to held Samael into his place. Lucifer quickly stood up and helped Azrael move Ainsley away from the hourglass but Lilith continued to stop them.

Samael tried every means to get himself out of Michael's enchantment but he could do nothing. There seemed to be some force holding him back.

"Don not do it yet! Ainsley is still here! ", Azrael shouted at Michael.

"We can't! The darkness in the hourglass is spreading faster and faster. Chaos could happen in any minute if we wait for her."

Lilith let out a loud laugh. "Do it. Make him an archangel," she said smiling, teasing them.

Michael no longer hesitated and quickly uttered the words engraved on the scroll.

"Michael..."

Lucifer just lowered his head and let Michael go. For him, it is more important to save the world first before everyone gets caught in chaos, darkness and fall.

Azrael quickly approached Ainsley and hugged the girl. "I-I'll protect you," he whispered to the woman.

Ainsley weakly smiled at Azrael. "D-Don't mind me. Do what you should do first."

Azrael shook his head as Ainsley slowly closed her eyes.

A dazzling light prevailed throughout the place. It took a few minutes before it entered Azrael's body.

Michael slowly lowered the scroll as Lilith was forcedly removed from Ainsley's body.

Lilith was about to escape when she was immediately held by Lucifer. "You are not gonna go anywhere."

Lucifer put the handcuffs made by Raviel to Lilith that made her lose her ability to move and talk.

Meanwhile, Ainsley's body is filled with wounds and she is now fighting for her life. She is not immune to the bright light of Heaven. It made her human body weakens.

Michael picked up Samael's dagger and handed it to Azrael.

Even though his system was full of energy, Azrael still felt that something was breaking inside his chest. It is pain and sadness. His love is now dead because of him.

He stared at the dagger for a long time before he decided to take it and stood up.

Azrael lifelessly faced Samael who was now smiling looking at him.

"Every power has its own gain and loss," he said to him.

Azrael throws the dagger on the ground. Michael was shocked to see him do it.

"What are you doing ?!" Michael shouted at Azrael.

"Killing him won't make him repent what he did."

Azrael gave Lucifer a meaningful look. Lucifer immediately get what Azrael wanted to say.

Lucifer summoned the cage made by him and Raviel.

Michael's eyes widened at what he saw. "I-Is this ...?"

"This is the cage made by Raviel and Lucifer before. It is made purely by the combined essence of darkness and light. I am sure Samael would not mind be caught and locked here for eternity."

Three angels surrounded Samael and locked him up in the cage. Azrael made a small cut on his palm and touched the cage. This made it stronger and will surely lock Samael forever.

"AINSLEY!"

The three turned to Gabriel, Elinora, Bliant, Madison and Jayden as they rushed to Ainsley.

They were all devastated by what they saw. Tears started to fall into their eyes as they saw their breathless friend.

Bliant already healed the injuries of the others while Gabriel helped him heal his self before they entered the place.

Bliant took Ainsley's hands and checked her pulse. Tears immediately flowed from his eyes when he felt that the woman was already lifeless.

"Can you heal her?", Azrael asked his friend.

Bliant shook quickly as he wiped the tears from his eyes. "I-I can't. She is dead."

Azrael's eyes widened at what he heard. He quickly hugged Ainsley. "He can't die."

Lucifer approached Azrael and pat his shoulders. "She still has her angel nature and also, she is a keeper. I am sure she will be reincarnated."

"But reincarnation means loss of memories. If she will be reincarnated, he won't remember us, "Jayden said.

"It is a cycle. Life will always be a cycle. We should just move on and live happily for her," Lucifer added before turning around and leaving, along with Lilith and Samael.

Michael immediately followed him.

"I am still here."

Everyone looked away when they heard the familiar voice.

The woman smiled at them. "You all looked like you saw a ghost. Oh! Right, I am a ghost." She laughed.

"A-Ainsley..."

"Don't just stand there and be shocked or whatever, I am here. I won't be going anywhere, well except if it's already my time. Am I right, Angel of Death?"

Azrael approached Ainsley happily and hugged her.

"So ..."

Everyone looked at Gabriel as he spoke.

"I think we need to go to Heaven."

Azrael agreed with what his friend said.

"We will also need to go back. I think my child is waiting for me back home", Elinora added.

Elinora and Ainsley looked at each other before saying goodbye to each other. "I'll miss all of you."

Elinora nodded at her. "I know. We will too."

"I hope we will see you again soon," Madison added.

"I'll take care of your house first," Jayden told Ainsley while laughing.

Zepar took a glimpse of Ainsley before he rushes towards Jayden. He immediately took the four back to their base.

Azrael took Ainsley's hand. The woman looked at him and smiled sweetly at him.

"You're now an archangel."

Azrael laughed and nodded. "But it costs your life."

Ainsley nodded. "I already know that I can not change my death. Even though, the reason behind it was changed, at the end of day, it will still happen."

"But, we changed the death of some people. Why couldn't we change yours?", Azrael asked confusedly.

Ainsley sighed and looked at the hourglass which is now filled with purity.

"As you said before, all abilities have its own gain and loss. Maybe, that is the price I need to pay. I can change other people's destiny but not mine."
