REUNION AT THE PARTY
Olivia's heels clicked on the marble floor, as she entered the grand ballroom, surrounded by luxury and high society. The crystal chandeliers cast a dazzling glow, illuminating the sea of elegantly dressed guest. Her friend Rachel adjusted her diamond necklace. "You look stunning," Rachel whispered, her voice barely audible over the gentle hum of conversation. Olivia smiled, her nerves temporarily forgotten. But as she scanned the room, her anxiety resurfaced. She hadn't attended a party like this since her divorce. The memories still lingered, a painful reminder of her failed marriage. "Relax Liv," Rachel said, noticing Olivia tension. "You deserve a night out. Lets enjoy ourselves." Olivia nodded, taking a deep breath. She had promised Rachel she would try to have fun tonight. As they mingled, Olivia gazed across the room, taking in the familiar faces. Politicians, business moguls and socialites mingled with ease, exchanging laughter and handshakes. She spotted a few acquaintances from her past life. Their eyes locking in brief recognition. And then she saw him. Liam. Their gaze locked, and time froze. Olivia's heart skipped a beat. Liam's smile hinted at secrets and unfinished business. Memories flooded her mind: laughter, tears and heartbreak. Their Whirlwind romance had ended abruptly, leaving her shattered. Liam's eyes held hers, his expression unreadable. Olivia's cheeks flushed as she turned away, seeking refuge in the crowd. "Lets get some champagne," Rachel suggested, sensing Olivia's unease. As they made their way to the bar, Olivia couldn't shake off the feeling that Liam was watching her. She glanced over her shoulder, their eyes meeting briefly before he turned away. The bartender handed Olivia a flute of champagne, and she took a sip, the bubbles tickling her nose. Rachel chatted with a nearby guest, leaving Olivia to her thoughts. Why had Liam come here tonight? Had he known she would be attending? Olivia's mind whirled with questions, her emotions in turmoil. She had thought she was over him, but the spark of attraction still lingered. As the evening wore on, Olivia found herself drawn into conversations with acquaintances and strangers alike. She laughed and smiled, pretending to be carefree. But her eyes kept drifting back to Liam, her heart pounding in anticipation. What would happen if they talked? Would the past remain buried, or would old wounds reopen? Olivia didn't have answers, but she knew one thing - she couldn't avoid Liam forever. As she mingled, Olivia's thought strayed to her divorce. The pain has lessened, but the scars remained. Her ex-husband, James, had been charming and manipulative leaving her emotionally drained. But Liam... Liam was different. Their connection had been intense, all-consuming. Olivia had given him her heart, and he had shattered it. The matter shifted, and the crowd began to dance. Olivia watched, feeling out of place. Rachel grabbed her hand, pulling her to the dance floor. "Come on Liv! Let loose," Rachel shouted over the music. Olivia laughed, letting the rhythm take over. For a moment she thought about Liam and the past. She lost herself in the music, her worries fading. But as the song ended, Olivia's eyes met Liam's across the room. The connection was palpable, electric. Olivia's heart skipped a beat. Liam's eyes never left hers, as he navigated through the crowd, his movement purposeful. Olivia's pulse quickened. What would happen when he reached her? Would she be able to resist him? Or would she succumb to the attraction that still simmered between them? The room seemed to shrink, leaving only the two of them. Olivia's fate hung in the balance. As Liam approached, Olivia's senses heightened. She felt the warmth of his presence, the scent of his cologne. "Liv," Liam said, his voice low and husky. Olivia's heart raced. "Liam," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. The air was charged with tension as they stood there, locked in a silent understanding. Would they rekindle the past, or forge a new path? Only time would tell. As they stood there, the sounds of the party faded into the background. Olivia's focused narrowed to Liam's eyes, his expression. "What brings you here tonight?" Olivia asked, her voice steady. Liam's smile hinted at secrets. "I could ask you the same," he replied. Olivia's cheeks flushed. She hadn't expected him to turn the question around. Rachel who has been watching both of them finally decided to intervene, sensing the tension. "Let's get some fresh air," she suggested, pulling Olivia outside the hall with Liam trailing behind. Olivia nodded, grateful for the distraction. As they stepped outside, the cool night air enveloped her, providing a welcome respite from the stifling atmosphere inside. Rachel led them to a secluded patio overlooking the gardens. The sound of a nearby fountain created a soothing melody, calming Olivia's frazzled nerves. "Better?" Rachel asked, noticing Olivia's relaxed posture. Olivia smiled. "Yes, thanks." Liam leaned against the railing, his eyes never leaving Olivia's face. "You look lovely tonight," he said, his voice low and husky. Olivia's cheeks flushed. "Thank you." The silence that followed was oppressive, weighing heavily on Olivia's shoulders. Rachel broke the silence. "So, Liam, what have you been up to?" Liam's gaze never wavered from Olivia's. "Just busy with work." Olivia"s curiosity piqued. What had he been doing after their breakup? As they chatted, Olivia found herself drawn to Liam's words, his voice weaving a spell around her. But she couldn't shake off the feeling that he was hiding something. "What's going on Liam?" Olivia asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Liam's eyes locked unto hers, his expression unreadable . "Nothing," he replied. Olivia's instincts screamed otherwise. Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows. "Liam, I've been looking for you," the woman said, her voice dripping with familiarity. Olivia's heart sank. Who was this woman? And what was her connection with Liam? The woman's gaze swept over Olivia, her expression a mixture of curiosity and possessiveness. "Who's your friend," she asked Liam, her voice dripping with entitlement. "Liam please introduce us," Rachel chimed in with amusement
