Chapter 7

"Well okay, I guess I can do that for you. You see Steffie your not human Steffie you're a shifter like me but not like me. How can I put this you're a tiger shifter just like your parents!." he tells me 

"Wait?! What?!" is all I get out.

 I'm shocked how can this be? I've always thought I was human! Yes, there have been changes lately but this is a bit much to take in. 

"You're a tiger shift, your parents were tiger shifters too. You have grandparents that have been dying to see you but haven't taken the risk of seeing you to protect you!" 

"There aren't many tiger shifts left in our world maybe 500 that we know of, some are in hidden so we cont be sure but if there are 1000 then that would be much," he says to me. 

I'm in shock I don't know what to say. I don't know what to think about this. 

" Look Steffie I know this is much to take in but on your 18th birthday is when you will first shift. Your birthday is only a few days away and we need to bring in a few of your cousins to help you with the changes your about to go through. I've never dealt with a tiger shift before I met your parents so, I don't know what you will be going through.!" he looks at me with sad eyes. 

He's been like a father to me, him and uncle James that is. 

" I want to keep you safe like I promised your parents. I'm sorry that I had to keep this from you till now and I hope you understand why I had to. The people that killed your parents wanted their title. They wanted to kill you too so that they could get the title but with you still being alive they can't have it. You are the tiger princess. Your mom and dad were king and queen of the tigers. Unfortunately, they were ambushed and were only able to get you to safety. You carry the bloodline. Your grandparents have been looking after everything till your old enough to take your place, that's if you want to take it otherwise your uncle will take over and to be honest with you he's a great person and would do an amazing job. If you decide not to take the throne. I'm not saying you wouldn't do a great job because I know you would, I'm just saying you have options. " he keeps going on and on. 

" Alpha not to be rude but can you please stop for a moment? I need to take all this in before you carry on, please.! " I say with a weak smile. 

" Oh sorry Steffie I'm just so nervous that you would up and leave I just keep talking to keep you here," he says looking worried and ashamed. 

" Alpha you don't have to worry. I understand, I just need time to work through all of this information. I thank you for putting your pack in danger just to protect me. I am honored that you would do all of this for me.!" I say with tears in my eyes. 

"When will my cousin be here? If you don't mind me asking and when will I be able to meet my grandparents?" I ask him. 

"Well, your grandparents will be here with your cousins tomorrow. They were so eager to see you so they will be dropping your cousins off themselves and staying a few nights till your birthday. Your cousins will be staying for a few months till you get the hang of being a tiger. " he smiles at me. 

" Well, I'm glad I still have a family. Not says you and the pack aren't family because you all are. I mean more like a blood-related family. " I say so fast so he doesn't feel like I think they aren't family because they are. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him and the pack. 

" I understand Steffie you don't have to explain it to me. I just happy you not running out of here. It's a lot to take in and you're doing really well." he's got this big smile now. 

"Hahaha. It might not look like it now but it hasn't sunk in yet. I don't want to be the queen of anyone. Do you think my grandparents will think less of me if I tell them this?" I ask the Alpha with so much worry in my voice. 

I'm not a queen, I could have been but I wasn't brought up that way. To be honest I'm more of a pack wolf. I should be ashamed of myself. 

" Steffie look at me. Your grandparents will never look down on or think of you any less. They were hoping you would give the thrown to your uncle so you could be safe. He's been brought up with the knowledge of how it all works. Whereas you've been brought up by a pack of wolves. They will be happy you've chosen this. " he says making me feel much better. 

" And like I've said he's a great man his right for the job. You don't have to worry about it at all " he promised me.

"Okay, if you're sure then okay. But I have a question do tigers have mates as wolfs do?" I ask I'm curious how do I also have a soul mate as the wolves do. I hope so. 

"Well as far as I know your mom and dad were mates, so I guess you do but I'm not 100% sure so you will have to ask your cousin when they get here tomorrow," he says. 

Well, that makes me hopeful. I've always wanted a mate someone that loves you unconditionally that's made just for you. I've seen mated wolfs and it's magical, it's amazing to have someone that completes you in every way. What Kim has with Ben. I want that. I really do. 

"Well, Alpha if that's all I think I better get something to eat and try get some sleep in before I meet my family tomorrow. Good night Uncle." I give him a hug goodnight. 

"Good night Steffie. Please remember there will always be a place for you here, always!" he says looking me in the eyes to make sure I understand. 

I just nod and wave goodbye. I'm off to the kitchen to make myself a sandwich. Walking into the kitchen I see Donovan is here busy making sandwiches as well I guess we had the same idea. He notices I'm standing there stirring at him. He looks up at me. 

"Hey, do you want some? I've made extra Ben told me you haven't had dinner tonight." he hands me a plate with a sandwich on. 

I look at him puzzled. What's happening here? Why have they been talking about me? Seeing the confusion on my face he answers my unasked question. 

" Before you think that I've been asking for you, Kim and Ben were in here just now and Kim said she wanted to make you something to eat because she didn't see you at dinner and that's when Ben told me and I offered to make you a sandwich coz I was already going to make for myself so there you have it. " 

" O okay, thanks I guess?! Night. " I say puzzled still. 

I leave to go to my room in the packhouse and eat my sandwich in peace.
