SAVED The sirens are howling over the coasts of the sea and they lighten the lamps to find the intruder that stepped onto their land. The guards are imposed with heavy weapons to slay anyone who comes in their way. The crowned king sent his armies in every direction to find a clue of the abducted princess. The loss he can’t fix to stop his queen grieving over. The time is lapsing out of hands, but they find no clue against the abductor. It increases the tension on the other side of the land where a man, dressed in all black, knocks on a door of a random house. After several banging, a brunette appears out of nowhere and hisses at the stranger standing at the doorstep. “I told you not to come here.”  “I have nowhere to go. She needs help.” the stranger explains. The woman gazes on the infant in the stranger’s arm and her expression softens for a while, but she conceals it quickly and replies harshly, “I can't help. It will be better if you give her back to them.” “You know that I will die, but I won’t return her to them.” the stranger raises his voice. “Better keep your voice low, this is an enchanted forest, your one little mistake will put you in grave danger.” the brunette states. “Let me in! I promise I won’t stay here for long.” the stranger begs. The brunette clutches her knuckle but lets him in with him. She keeps her posture erect and gazes hard on them. The stranger lays the baby on the bed and watches her snuggle while sleeping. A genuine smile erupts on his lips. The brunette watches them with water in her eyes but sniffs her nose to stop them coming out of the surface. The stranger notices the small action of the brunette. “No matter how bad you try to look cold, I know deep inside you care for her.” the stranger states while removing his hood. “She is just a baby, her blood is innocent but not her fate. I have warned you, Elijah.” “And I have taken your warning seriously, but she is my blood.” Elijah’s eyes become teary, “I Can’t let her stay in those hands.” “Don’t you trust your lover enough to let your baby stay with her?” the brunette crosses her arms below her chest and raises her eyebrows in doubt. “Silver doesn’t know it yet! She knows nothing about him. She is innocent. They never raised her in the kingdom, but I was. I have taken my oath to protect her, and I protected her till the last breath.” Elijah screams. “If it was not me, then you must lay deep in earth somewhere with your oath and protection.” the brunette spats. Elijah stares at her but calms down immediately. “I am thankful for that too.” he whispered and left the room. “Oh! Elijah! You are naïve.” the brunette whispers to herself. She removes her cloak and goes to a compact kitchen she has in her house. She prepares some tea for herself and calmly downs her running anxiety. Suddenly, Elijah enters the room and his gaze meets with the brunette’s. “I am sorry.” Elijah apologized. “You don’t have to apologize but you will be habitual of that soon. Elijah, her fate is destined and no one can change it. Not the god himself can do that.” the brunette averts her gaze out from the window and exhales while gazing at the rain pouring harder on the ground, burying the soil deep. “Carmen! Try to understand me.” Elijah states. “It’s only me who has understood you for years, though our paths have crossed, but we are not with each other.” carmen sighs and her expression hardens. “My love for you is still the same and fresh, like the first bloomed flower of spring.” Elijah coughs and stares at the empty place in the corner, “you know i love her. There is no point in bringing the past again and again. Why did you save me?” Carmen looks at Elijah and replies, “you say that there is no point in bringing the past again but everything we had once is imprinted in my mind and I can't remember to forget it. It was the best time of my life, although, the times have changed and so do you, I Am still the same Carmen you left behind years ago.” She continues, “why i saved you? That’s what you are asking? Well, I had a vision in my dreams, you were lying in a pool of blood and I knew that in time you are in danger. My love for you made me come to save you. The love you never saw in my eyes.” she sobs quietly. “Don’t make me feel guilty of leaving you carmen. You and I are never meant for each other. You are a talented witch and I Am a Callieach. We have original aims of our life and different roads to travel. The decision I took years ago was for both of us.” Elijah states coldly. But before Carmen could say anything, the baby cried, and they both rushed into the room. Elijah wraps the baby around his arms and cooed her a lullaby in her ears. The baby is still;l crying and nothing is working to stop her. “She is hungry. Let me see what i have in store!” Carmen suggested and left to the kitchen to grab something for the baby. She had goat's milk, but she isn’t sure if the baby will digest it or not. There is no time to think of an alternative because the baby is crying harder. She fills a bottle and hands it to Elijah. The baby immediately gulped down the milk as her life depended on it. “She was starving!” Carmen commented, and Elijah nodded his head in agreement. The little baby goes back to sleep in his father’s arms. “She recognises you.” Carmen smiled at Elijah. “Maybe I Can change things. Maybe i still have a chance.” he whispers to himself. Carmen sighs and leaves the room. Elijah follows her. “Where are you going?” he asks. “To fetch some herbs and important stuff for the magic I will create for you.” “I did not get you.” “You have made your mind and I Can’t force you to change it, but I Can help you. I have a plan.” Carmen suggests and leaves the house to roam in the dark enchanted forest to help his lover.
