"W-wag, wag kang lalapit." nanginginig kong usal. My feet felt like they were glued to the ground the moment he spoke. I was so stunned I couldn't even process his words. My mind was blank. My heart was heavy because one of them... she was terrifyingly good at breaking me. At making me bleed without even touching me and the worst part? I didn't even do anything. I didn't provoke them. I didn't fight back. I didn't give them any reason to hate me. Then suddenly, it hit me. A memory I almost forgot. The woman in black. The mask covering half her face. Her voice was low, but sharp like a knife. She looked straight at me and said, "Draven is mine." Her eyes were full of hatred. "You're trying to seduce him, aren't you?" That was it. That was why she was angry. That was why they hurt me. "A-ahh, Drav-" hindi ko na natuloy yung sasabihin ko ng biglang magsalita si Draven. "ang mabuti pa ay magpahinga ka muna, may aasikasuhin pa ako, babalik ako mamayang hapunan." wika nito at tumayo na at nagtungo sa pintoan para lumabas. "Kainis." I cursed under my breath. I didn't even get the chance to ask him. And now my mind was running wild. What if she really was his girlfriend? What if they had something deeper... something I knew nothing about? What if their connection was the kind that ran deeper than blood, deeper than promises? If that was true, then I was in huge trouble-massive, irreversible, trouble. "Ahh, whatever." I sighed, dragging a hand through my hair. I'll just ask him later. I need to hear it from him. I need to be sure. Instead of sitting here and driving myself crazy with my own stupid guesses. - I was still lying on my bed. Staring at the ceiling. Overthinking every single word that woman said. Who was she? What did she and Draven have? Before I could drown in my own thoughts, a knock echoed on my door. "Ma'am, dinner is ready po," one of the maids called out. I didn't answer. I just sat up, walked to the mirror, and looked at myself. "Hmm. Still pretty," I muttered, fixing my hair. I went downstairs and there he was sitting at the dining table like he owned the whole damn world. "Good evening, sir," I greeted. "Evening," he replied. Cold as always, not even a "good" in his evening.. ang sungit talaga. Then he looked up at me his eyes dark, and serious. "Starting today, you'll call me hubby." I froze. Wait. Did he just-- Hubby? The word sent shivers down my spine. It sounded... dangerous and sweet. My cheeks burned. "O-okay... hubby," I said quietly and the stupid man? he smirked like he enjoyed making me kilig. The silence at the table was suffocating only the sound of silverware against plates filled the air. I kept my eyes down, eating quietly, trying to ignore the way his gaze burned on my skin, then suddenly, his chair scraped. I looked up, Draven stood, walked to my side of the table, and picked up the serving spoon. My breath caught. He started putting food on my plate. rice, meat, vegetables, way too much. "Eat properly," he said, his voice low and dangerous. He pushed the plate back in front of me. I stared at it then at him. "I-I can do it myself-" "Look at yourself." he cut me off, his eyes dragged over my body like he was assessing damaged property. "Look at your body, you're too damn thin." The word thin came out like accusation, like I did it on purpose to spite him. My cheeks flushed. "I eat-" "Not enough." he leaned down, palms flat on the table beside my plate. His face was inches from mine I could smell his cologne. dark, expensive, deadly. "You belong to me now," he whispered. "So you will eat, you will sleep, you will stay healthy." his finger tapped my plate once in hard. "Because if anything happens to you under my name, it's my problem." Not my wellbeing, not my health, but his problem. That's how he cared, possessive, dark and territorial. I picked up my fork with shaking hands "Y-yes... hubby." he straightened, satisfied and went back to his seat but his eyes never left me watching me and making sure I took every bite and the worst part? part of me liked it. The dining hall was too quiet just the clink of his glass and the sound of my own heartbeat. I couldn't eat anymore every bite felt like a lie because all I could think about was her. The woman in black. The mask. "Draven is mine." My hands shook "Hubby," I whispered. Draven didn't look up from his whiskey. "What." cold, one word like a warning. I swallowed hard. "C-can I ask you something... about the woman in black?" The glass froze halfway to his lips, the temperature in the room dropped even the maids by the wall stopped breathing. He set the glass down slowly and when he turned to me, his eyes were black, empty and dangerous. "Don't." his voice was low deadly quiet. "Don't say her name not in my house, not in front of me." My heart stopped, I messed up, I messed up big time but before I could apologize, he stood. His chair scraped loudly against the floor. He walked to me every step felt like a countdown. He stopped in front of me, towering over me. Then his hand came up. big, warm, and it cupped my face. My breath hitched. "Worry about yourself," he murmured, thumb brushing under my eye. "Not her." his gaze dropped to my lips then back to my eyes. dark, possessive and claiming. "Because she's not the one eating at my table." "She's not the one wearing my name." "And she's definitely not the one sleeping in my bed tonight." The last word hit me like a punch to the chest. Sleeping in my bed tonight. My cheeks burned, my heart was racing so fast I thought he could hear it and stupid me... I smiled, a big, dumb, couldn't-help-it smile up to my ears. kilig, takot and something darker I didn't want to name. Draven saw it his jaw ticked then the corner of his mouth lifted just a little... a smirk. "That's right," he whispered. "Smile like that only for me." yawaaa nakita niya pala, kahiya baka ano isipin niya. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to my forehead. possessive, claiming and final. "Now finish your food before I feed it to you myself." and I did smiling like an i***t the whole time. After dinner, I followed him like I always did like I had no choice. We stopped in front of his room the huge black door, his territory, he opened it and gestured for me to go in. I froze. "Pero..." my voice came out small. "Bakit ako matutulog sa kama mo? o sa kwarto mo?" I looked up at him, trying to sound brave. "Diba... diba may rules tayo?" The rules, no touching, no feelings, just contract that's what we agreed on. Draven closed the door behind us. Click. The sound echoed. He walked to me slow and deliberate. Stopping just inches away close enough that I could smell him. Then he tilted his head. "Oo," he said quietly. "Yung rules..." his lips curved into a dark smirk. "Binabawi ko na." My heart stopped. Lintek na, anong binabawi? lala mo naman. "W-what?" I whispered and he reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear his touch was light but it burned. "Bakit?" he asked, voice dropping lower and dangerous. "Natatakot ka ba sa akin?" his finger traced down my cheek. "o sa pwedeng mangyare?" I couldn't breathe my face was on fire, my heart was pounding so loud I was sure he heard it and my stupid lips... they were smiling until my ears I couldn't stop it. Kilig, pure kilig, mixed with terror. "Sa-sagot?" he pressed, stepping closer now our chests were almost touching. I shook my head. "H-hindi ako natatakot." that was a lie I was terrified, terrified of him, terrified of how much I wanted this. Draven chucklednlow and dark. "Liar," he whispered against my ear. "But that's okay." he grabbed my wrist gently and pulled me toward the bed. "Sleep. Now." it wasn't a request he let go and sat on the edge of the bed, patting the space beside him. "Rules are gone, from now on, you sleep where I say and I say... beside me." and there I was smiling like an i***t, heart racing, falling harder to him. The room was dark too dark only the sound of rain against the window and his breathing. I couldn't sleep not with his arm locked around my waist not with his body pressed against my back like he was afraid I'd disappear. "Can't sleep?" his voice cut through the darkness, low, rough like he just woke up. I flinched. "N-no. I'm fine." A dark chuckle vibrated against my back. "Liar." Suddenly his grip tightened he pulled me closer until there was zero space between us his face buried in my neck. "Stop moving," he murmured, voice still half-asleep dangerous. "You're distracting me." "I'm not-" "You are." his hand slid up, resting right over my heart like he was counting my beats. "Your heart is racing." his lips brushed my skin not a kiss just breath "Is it because of me? or because you're thinking about running again?" My whole body froze. "Answer me." his voice dropped... warning. "I... I'm not running," I whispered. "Good." his arm tightened around me. possessive and claiming. "Because if you did, I'd find you." a pause. "And I'd bring you back here to this bed to me." He shifted, pressing a slow kiss to the side of my neck not romantic just marking. "Sleep," he commanded. "But don't think I'm not awake I'm always awake when it comes to you." and just like that, he settled still holding me like I was the most dangerous and most precious thing he owned. I closed my eyes smiling in the dark, terrified, safe, his.
