Present Anna was standing in the kitchen at the island, staring at the fridge. Mrs. Watkins came in to check everything was put away before she turned in herself. “Anna, honey, what are you doing in here?” she asked my daughter. It was eleven o’clock at night and Mrs. Watkins wasn’t used to seeing anyone in the kitchen so late. “Thinking,” Anna said. “About Mom.” Mrs. Watkins went over to Anna and put her hand on my daughter’s. “She made us a snack every night before we went to bed,” Anna said to Mrs. Watkins. “Something to send us off with full bellies and warm thoughts, that’s what she would always say. She said if we had warm thoughts we would have good dreams.” “Your mother loves you and your brother very much. I’m sure she is hurting just as much that she’s not here with you
