Song for the chapter: Overdose by Mavins, Crayon, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Magixx and Boy spice.
Gina's POV
A bang sounded waking me from my deep slumber, I jumped down from the bed I didn't remember laying on with a speed that would had rivalled Barry Allen's.
Something was wrong with me.
I could hear a hundred times better than before, even my eye sight was sharper , you see I've been bespectacled ever since I was four and I couldn't see without my glasses or contact lens on.
I could smell something delicious, an odor that smelled like wild honey, bananas and fish.
I love bananas.
Walking into my tiny white living room that I had minimally decorated with one black sofa, a thirty two inches L.G Led TV on the wall, a GoTv decoder, a small white table and two plastic chairs on the left side of the room.
"How're you feeling now?" Martha who sat on one of the plastic chairs asked.
"Like an overdosed druggie, but I'm fine" I answered then inhaled deeply. I could still smell the bananas and I could tell it was coming from the direction where Martha was seated.
Like an aphrodisiac it was intoxicating.
I found myself drawn toward Martha, with a tinkling pain in my gums, in a flash I was in front of her, holding her up in a choke then lifted her up while she hit my arm and kicked her feet.
"Let her down" Emeka whom I hadn't noticed said calmly.
I snared at him angry at his interruption as I wanted something and I had no idea what.
"Why " I hissed at the man who had a faint shimmer around him, I didn't see a friend, I only saw what he represented.
A Ghost.
"Because she's your best friend and she just saved you from dying" he swallowed hard "And you'd regret it if you killed her"
How dare he? He didn't know me very well, he was just a mutual friend, only Martha was my best friend.
Like a spell that had expired, I felt my eyes clear and noticed I had Martha on a choke. Like one stung by a bee I let her down and stared at horror at what I had done to my friend.
There were red marks marring her neck, while her eyes were filled with tears.
"Oh my God, babe I'm so sorry" I started out in panic "I had no idea, what's wr..wrong with me?" I asked my legs shaking, I collapsed at the sofa.
"No wahala babe" she said " it's natural for you to want my blood, vampires do"
"What!" I gasped.

Martha's POV
I've known from the moment I saw Gina shivering on her bed that she was turning to a vampire. However what I didn't know was how. I have quite the knowledge about vampires as I had gone on my way to avoid them as they were drawn to my blood like a moth to fire.
Vampires and my kind had been enemies for eons as they hunt us for our blood and we lure them to their eternal deaths.
However Gina was different.
When I met Gina for the first time I knew she was human, if she was an other I would had stayed away (others tend to be selfish and egoistic more than humans, though I still stay friends with a few of them). I became friends with her last year cos she reminded me of the person I was before I had changed. Quiet, respectful and a little bit reserved. I had seen her at the love garden under the ICT complex quarreling with her ex boyfriend who had cheated on her and who had wanted to put hands on her and I had intervened and we had been tight friends since then.
To be honest she reminded me of the person I was before I had left home which was the other part of the Atlantic ocean.
Getting back at the situation at hand, I began to wonder how she had turned a vampire.
You see vampires are born not turned contrary to the popular belief which was why I was confused. The only way to turn a vampire which was nearly impossible was if you were soulmates to a royal and there were a few royals, one was mates and the other had been cursed by a witch not to have one as he had been cruel and had destroyed her coven five hundred years ago. Even if she had been turned by a soulmate, I knew that was not the case if not he would be sticking next to her like glue or as a shadow.
"What!" Gina gasped "I'm no Vampire" she stated turning paler than her new complexion in horror.
"Yes you are" Emeka refutes crossing his arm as he stared down at Gina with a frown marring his Handsome face. I could tell he was pretty shaken up with the knowledge that our best friend was now a vampire and considering his history with vampires, ( when we had gone to vacation to Rome in 1998 one had almost ended his life) he hates them with every fibre of his dead being which was why I was surprised he hadn't attacked Gina but more surprised at myself.
I know the girl is my best friend but however she could kill me with a snap of her finger if she so wished. I just wished there was a spell that'd change her back to human but unfortunately there isn't.
"Shut up Emeka, I was asking Martha not you" Gina snarled her brown eyes turning red with killing intent, slitting like a snake's.
I sighed, there was no other way around this. I have to make her understand her situation, the earlier I told her, the better.
"You are now a vampire babes" I said sinking down the space next to her on the couch trusting she wouldn't hurt me "and before you ask how I know, I'm a mermaid and Emeka's a ghost"
