mistakes and regrets

"How can you even think of doing something so stupid?" We were being scolded for like millionth time for what we have done.

I was scolded by Luca, my parents, the principal and now we were standing in front of the King and the royal general.

I was already getting tired of all the scolding and it was not good for me or the King to say more than we have already heard.

"Whose idea was this?" King yelled while we four stood there with our heads down not muttering a word.

"Are you all deaf?" He was standing and looked furious now.

"It was my idea." Blade finally answered.

King inhaled sharply realizing it was his son's doing and started pacing muttering something to himself.

"I am surprised how you all are still alive." Royal General spoke up.

Well, that was a mystery in itself, isn't it?

"you all are to be restricted in academy area from now on. For the students there, Annalise and Jayden you have to score at least double to pass any test now. For the Golden Knight, you are suspended from your formal duties from now on till unknown period. And Prince you will be in charge of student teaching in school and not allowed to touch weapons for time being." We were all issued our punishments.

Everyone looked displeased except Kasper who looked nonchalant.

"Leave now before I throw you all in the dungeon." Kind snapped at us and we walked out instantly.

"That was intense." Blade said sighing out of relief now.

"Easy for you to say. Now Jayden and I have to pass a damn hard test with double the normal scores." And I realized I shouldn't be even talking to him.

He just saw that I was some evil incarnate.

"Well, good luck. I heard you were great in first virtual training." He answered as if everything was normal.

So just to make things clear, I asked him clearly.

"Did you not see what happened out there?" I asked and saw the tense look on Jayden's and Kasper's face.

"Yeah, you saved our ass."

"And killed a few effortlessly," I answered back looking for his reaction.

"So you think I might hate you and be surprised?" His words surprised me in instead.

"Umm...you are not surprised?" I asked ready to get any kind of answer.

"Well, I did saw you kill a bird with your hand when we were kids." He shrugged his shoulder casually.

I am pretty sure I blanched because he just confessed that he knew i was a killer. Of course, I should have known , I played with him when we were kids. I should have made some mistake then.

"So you have known all along?" I asked surprised that many people knew about me.

He nodded and asked, "Now I think we should get back before you fail some round of your Knightship training."

Since everyone was healed and fine, our next virtual training ground was open for us. Unlike last time we decided to go in last.

"Thank you," Kasper said as we stood in the hall waiting for our turn.

"Yeah." Jayden quietly agreed.

I know the reason for their thank you so I just nodded. I did not tell them that the intensity of my nightmares doubled or that I felt sick inside and puked after almost every food.

"Are you okay?" Jayden asked in a sincere tone.

His question kind of made me heavy with emotion. No one asked me how I was since I got back. They scolded and looked worried but no one asked.

So I tried to be truthful with him, "Not really."

"Would you like to go to the Sanctuary? Your bodyguard is suspended now. He will not follow you around."

"Why do you two hate each other?" I was really curious on this matter.

Jayden just smiled and gave me a head shake as if I was clueless here. Maybe I was.

"What's not to hate?" Kasper said giving a dry look to Jayden .

"Okay, next you three are up," Brendon called out giving me an apologetic smile since he knew my test was tougher.

"Who weakness are we playing today?" I asked just in case we jumped into a surprise.

"We will see once we get in," Jayden added.

We were in a prison as the virtual test started. I opted for a morning star as an additional weapon today since I was getting good with it, thanks to Kasper.

"This is not my weakness," I said knowing too well it had to be Jayden's.

"I hate prisons." He muttered with a painful edge to his tone.

I wanted to ask more but I decided not to since I know how I don't want people to know about my life tragedies.

"Why?" Kasper asked instead.

I thought Jayden will just ignore him or diss him in some way but he surprised me with an answer, "I was sent to prison for killing someone."

I should have just acted cool but my head reacted even before my mind could and turned to look at him sharply.

The corridor was long and dark and we just kept walking waiting for Jayden to elaborate.

"Was the judgment correct?" I finally asked not able to keep in.

"No, not that one." There was so much pain in his tone.

"We don't know much about you?" Kasper spoke my mind and I was glad he did.

"Let's get done with this test and you will know most of it."

Before any of us can respond a ghoul appeared in front of us. My heart almost leaped in surprise as I saw the ghoul suddenly in a dark corridor.

But the weird thing about the ghoul that it had a face of someone human. It was hard to see Jayden's reaction to the coming danger.

"We will soon separate and face other things. Do remember how to get back." Kasper reminded me.

The ghoul number was increasing now and there were ten of them now.

Jayden sighed deeply and said, "Let's get this over with."

And we charged. Morning star came in handy as I threw them at the ghouls. But the weird thing was they didn't seem to affect the ghouls at all. But when Jayden attacked then, they seem to vanish in thin air.

He was furious while killing them and at point Kasper and I stopped and only worked. His attacks held rage and pent up frustration. As we closed on the last ghoul, Jayden stopped the attack and backed up a bit. He suddenly fell on the ground as if he had no energy left. He was on his eyes and it looked like he gave up the fight.

I was about to move forward and help him out but Kasper stopped me from doing so. He shook his head and pointed in Jayden's direction as he whispered something unbelievable to the ghoul, "Mom."

Before I could react the scene shifted and I was separated from Jayden and Kasper like before.
