Ever since Aidan had commanded me to be his Luna, I was feeling a pull towards him. Being the stubborn person that I was, I refused to submit to it. Whenever someone came into my room, I pretended to be asleep and faced the wall, and they believed it, thinking it was because I hadn't slept in a while. However, people began to get worried after a few days.
I heard footsteps coming up the hallway and the door to my room open and close. I closed my eyes trying to pretend to be asleep again.
"I know you're not asleep" It was Cole and even though he knew that I wasn't asleep I still didn't turn around. I felt the edge of my blanket rise and the side of my bed lower. Then he covered himself in the blanket and sat with me in silence tracing circles with his fingers on my shoulder. We sat for about half an hour before I finally turned to face him.
"What's wrong?" Our faces were so close together.
"I can't tell you. You'll get mad" I said.
"I won't" I could feel his breath fan over my face
"I got in a fight with Aidan" I waited for a reaction but didn't get one, so I continued. "He used his Alpha tone to command me to be his Luna" I felt the bed shift ever so slightly as every muscle in his body tensed and his face turned red. Shooting out of the bed, he yelled
"He did what! Why didn't you tell me?" I flinched back. I'd never seen him lash out like that. I didn't get a chance to answer before he jumped out of the bed and I heard him storm out of the room and into the hallway. I hurried out of the bed after him, trying the stop him. He was fast, and I was still weakened but I ran after him anyway.
"Cole stop. You'll only make it worse!" I didn't hear an answer as he ran down the stairs. Trying to catch up to him while going down the stairs was definitely not a good idea. I lost my footing and ended up sliding down the stairs and knocking Cole as I went down. He groaned when we finally stopped, he didn't miss a beat to try to get up and run but my reflexes were faster, and my hand shot out and grabbed a fist of his shirt pulling right back to me. He glared at me and tried to pry my hand off.
"Don't. You'll only make it worse. Please don't talk to him" He growled at me.
"You can't tell me what to do. As an Alpha I command you let me go and stop chasing me" He had a smug look on his face and my jaw dropped. Against my will, my hand unclenched and he took off down the hallway. I could only stare after him. The second time an alpha had used his command on me in the course of a few days.
I slowly pulled myself off the ground, using the staircase railing as support wincing slightly at a pain in my ankle. It didn't feel like I broke it so I decided to just walk it off.
Now that I was out of my room, I realized that I couldn't spend another second in it. I dragged my body towards the door and plunked myself down in a chair. By luck, it was facing the sun and I could feel it warming my face. I closed my eyes and brought my legs up to my chest and smiled slightly. Although I was worried about what Cole was going to do, I didn't really care anymore. Now that I thought about it, why did I care in the first place? But more importantly, why was Cole so angry about it?
There was a fly that kept pestering me and getting on my nerves. Opening my eyes, I glared at it. It wasn't; however, the fly that got my attention when I did, it was the two figures coming towards me in the distance. I couldn't see them clearly since the sun was in my eyes, but something told me they were going to be bad news. I knew I should've probably gone back inside, but I didn't.
When the two figures approached, I realized that it was my parents. What were they doing back here?
"Hello Mikayla," My mother said. I rolled my eyes, they had always refused to use my nickname,
"What do you want?"
"Now, that's no way to talk to your mother" My father scolded.
"Maybe I wouldn't talk like that if you hadn't left without saying anything. Not that I care or anything" They gave each other a look.
"I see your attitude hasn’t changed a bit." I stood up from my chair and tilted my chin upwards.
"What are you doing here?"
"Well, we wanted to tell you how proud we are that you're the Alpha's mate" I narrowed my eyes at them. The parents of the Alpha and Luna were treated with higher respect than omegas and lived richly in the pact.
"You don't really care. You just want the money. That's why you came back after my brother died"
"Nonsense" They gave each other another look.
"Get out of here. Nobody wants you here"
"Young lady if you keep disrespecting us like that, you'll be severely punished"
"What are you going to do about it? Put me in time out? No, I don't think so. For now, I'm the only Luna around here, so get out of my pack" Technically I wasn't even on my pack’s territories, nor was I a Luna.
"I didn't know you were already the Luna" My mother's eyes widened.
"You don't know a lot of things about me, mainly because you were never here to see. You weren't there to see me go on my first date, you weren't there when I had bad breakups, you weren't there when I found my mate, and you weren't there when I became the Luna. You're not my parents. Just leave"
"We're not leaving. Too bad. We’re here for good. Your brother left us, but now we have you. Don't disappoint us" My eyebrows shot up
"Me... disappoint you... the only person who'll be disappointed is the Alpha when he kicks you out. Since you don't seem to be listening to me. He won’t be pleased about that. Trust me, he hasn't heard any good things about you lately"
"We're staying one way or another" My mother leaned towards me, taunting me with her eyes.
"We'll see about that" I turned and left, flipping my now turning-blond hair over my shoulder and barging into the house, not holding the door open for my parents. I stormed down the hallway and barged into Cole's office. He was in a heated discussion with Aidan and they looked on the verge of snapping each others' neck. When I entered the room, they stared me down, daring me to interrupt them. Challenge accepted.
"My parents are here" Cole took it the wrong way
"That's great news, I want to meet them" He had a smile on his face.
"No, it's not. You don't want to meet them. I need you to banish them from your territory."
"Why?" I ignored his question
"I also told them I was Luna and you're supposed to be upset that they didn't listen to me when I told them to leave"
"Why?" He repeated himself. All the while, I felt an incredible pull towards Aidan and all I wanted to do was rip his clothes off and for him to mark me, but I controlled myself.
"Please" He closed his eyes and thought for a moment.
"Fine. I'll go talk to them" He turned to Aidan "This conversation isn't over. Don't touch her" He walked out of the room and closed the door after him.
I looked at Aidan while he looked at me. I brought my eyes away from his face and trailed them down his body, only stopping myself by closing my eyes and looking away as I opened them.
"I know you want me" He took a step closer to me and I took a step back
"I don't. You're a disgusting human being"
"Well, it's a good thing that I'm not a human then" He smirked taking another step closer. Each step the closer he got, the more I wanted him and the harder it was to take steps back. I wanted him so bad my mouth was basically watering, but that would have been really ugly, so I didn't. Not that I cared or anything. He took another step towards me. I took deep breaths to try and keep myself calm.
By now he was a good three meters away from me and was rapidly approaching. I was doing all I could to not take a step closer to him.
"Stop trying to resist it" I glared at him and regretted it immediately, he looked so good right now. By now he was standing over me. I was staring directly at his chest. I didn't realize I was so short compared to him.
He leaned down and pressed his lips against mine.
