Jumping up from my spot, I knew what I needed to do. I waded through the cornfield, pushing the blades out of my way to make it easier to walk. I just needed to clear my head for a while. I needed some time to myself without having my parents, Cole or Aidan manipulating my thoughts.
I entered the pack house, took out my bag shoving all my belongings into it. I didn't know when I'd be back, so I shoved everything into it. I didn't have the patience to fold anything either. Adrenaline pumped through my veins as I wrote a good-bye letter.
Dear whomever it may concern,
Congratulations, you were the first one to find this letter! I bet you're wondering why you found it in the first place. Well, you may or may not have noticed but by the time you find this letter, I will be long gone. I didn't want anybody to worry when I suddenly disappeared.
I never wanted my life to come to this: running away from my mate. But I need some time to think before I have the chance to realize who to love I need to figure myself out, figure out if I want to become a Luna or not.
Don't worry about me, I will be fine. I have a pack in mind to go to. Don't bother looking for me. I will come back when I'm ready. Maybe once in a while, I'll give a call or visit.
Cole, thank you for all your hospitality, I'm sorry it had to come to this. I hope you find a girl that is worthy to replace your old mate and strong enough to become the Luna.
Aidan, I don't even know what to say to you, so I won't say anything aside from the fact that I Mia, reject you Alpha Aidan as my mate. I hope Olivia forgives you because I'm not going to.
Mom and dad, screw you and your pathetic son. You were never my real parents anyway.
Well, I guess that ends this goodbye letter. Don't worry about me too much, if I run into trouble, I'll call you, but I doubt it.
Thanks for everything,
The one and only,
Mia
I took a deep breath and looked at my handy work.
I felt lighter after writing it. I guess the weight of having a mate like Aidan was holding me back. It was so freeing to finally be able to reject him. I said it out loud a few more times while looking at myself in the mirror.
Finally, I shuffled around the room, set the paper on my bed, grabbed my bag and fled the room. I walked down the hallway with purpose, not running into anybody. When I was beginning to enter the forest, I turned and gave one last look at the pack house. Then turned and kept walking.
I must have been walking for a few days. I knew it was a long walk to the pack I was headed to, but I was no longer sure if I was even heading in the right direction. I was heading towards my brother's old pack. When they were mates, I had become good friends with the Luna and I knew she would let me stay for a little while to sort my life out.
I was crossing an unknown territory. I wasn't sure whose pack I was on and I could feel my stomach making knots as I heard shuffling around me, and I was pretty sure it wasn't just a squirrel.
Suddenly 5 wolves encircled me, their teeth baring. One of the wolves had a certain aura.
"Not another f*****g Alpha" I groaned. The wolves seemed confused about my remark and I knew they wanted to ask questions but didn't want to leave me alone to shift. They didn't look too dangerous and they hadn't killed me yet so I sat down on the grass, leaning against a tree. They gave each other some looks and four of the wolves went to neighboring trees to shift and find new clothes. When they came back the fifth wolf went to change. In front of me stood 3 very handsome boys and a cute girl. The Alpha was shirtless, and I was practically drooling.
"I hate to say this, but you look even better than Aidan" I couldn't believe I had just said that out loud. Nevertheless, it felt good to say something bad about Aidan for once. The alpha's eyebrows shot up
"Alpha Aidan?"
"Yeah, don't tell him you saw me. I'm running away" I was having a déjà vu moment to when I was with Cole for the very first time.
"You're running away from him?"
"Again" I looked up at him. He had these piercing green eyes that seemed to see right through me. We held each others’ gaze for a few seconds when he nodded his head as if making a decision.
"No more running"
