Chapter One: Unpredicted Chaos
A year ago, scientists that worked with the military started a project to create robots with Artificial Intelligence. The creation of these robots was a success, considering the fact that the military made use of materials that they had recently discovered. These robots were created to act as humans, in other words, they were humanoid robots. The military had invested a lot in the creation of these robots, but due to limited resources, they were only able to create a total number of fifty humanoid robots. These robots could learn at a fast rate, and a few of them could bypass any security system in the world; they could easily adapt to any situation and communicate well. However, the creation of these robots was hidden from the public, since it was meant to be a secret weapon, a trump card of the military in time of any war. On the 4th of July 2023, the same year the humanoid robots were created, the military decided to officially launch their most recent project within their organization. Mr. Kane, a man that looked to be in his late forties, was the General of the military base where the research was held, stood on a platform in front of a crowd of soldiers. He had been giving a speech on the struggles of those in the army and how proud he was that the men under him were strong soldiers. After his speech was done, it was time for him to reveal the completed project. “Now, ladies and gentlemen, to introduce to you the reason why we are gathered here, I present to you Droid-A,” General Kane’s words were followed by a deafening roar, hard whistles, and loud claps. The soldiers were all excited for this moment, until a woman dressed in army green service uniform walked toward the general. The applause had suddenly died down; many soldiers were left confused as they were expecting to see something more mechanical walk up the stage. The woman that had just walked in looked nothing like what they had been expecting; she walked elegantly in her six-inch heels as her hips swayed from left to right. All the men were dazzled by this woman’s appearance. Some of the soldiers assumed that this was one of the people in charge of the project. The woman had walked straight to the general and stood by his right with a large but beautiful smile. “Soldiers… Droid-A,” General Kane said feeling proud. Right in front of everyone's eyes, the woman’s skin broke into tiny pieces, but very quickly, it had reassembled, and this time, she looked more metal-like. It now made sense to the soldiers gathered around why this woman…pardon…droid had walked onto the stage. What was more amazing to them was the fact that its clothes were part of the droid skin. Since the Droid-A had walked in, it had been silent, just smiling and staring into the large crowd. Now she turned to face the general. “Thank you, Kane, but now it is time for us to take over,” the Droid-A said. Not quite understanding what the droid meant, General Kane stepped to the side giving the droid enough space on the stage. Although he felt something was off, the droid had not addressed him properly, but he overlooked it. “General… Kane,” a faint voice called out from within the crowd. “General Kane… get out of the way.” The general was squinting his eye to search the crowd for who was calling him, and then he found a lady in a white coat and glasses pushing through the crowd of hefty men. He immediately recognized her; she worked in the lab and was part of those who contributed to their recently completed project. He recognized her because she would normally be the one to update him on the project matters. Korra Kiyoshi, an Asian scientist, she worked closely on the project that the military had invested so much in. Now Korra was moving towards the platform the General was standing on; she had caught a lot of attention as she moved through the army that stood in a large open field. “General Kane, get out of the way,” Korra shouted as loud as she could. General Kane didn’t understand why she would be saying words like that at a time like this. He didn’t have time to process what she was trying to say as he was pushed away from his position on the platform to the ground; the platform was not high, so the impact of the fall wasn’t much. However, he soon felt a sharp pain in his left shoulder, and he was bleeding severely. Minutes ago while everyone was focused on Korra, the major general had noticed something going on with the droid's hand. The metal on its hand had thinned out and became longer with a pointed tip. Its hand now looked like a blade, the Droid-A stepped behind General Kane and was ready to stab its bladed hand through the general’s heart. Before the Droid-A could cause any severe damage, the major general had pushed General Kane out of the way, but now the general had a deep wound on his left shoulder. The soldiers who had seen what happened were now on guard. General Keith, who had pushed the head general out of the droid's attack, was now a safe distance from the droid. Keith like every other person had come for the launch and clearly, he wasn’t properly armed to battle against the droid. On the other hand, the droid was all kinds of weapon. “General,” Korra quickly moved to Kane’s side as he lay on the ground injured; she was doing her best to apply pressure to the deep wound. “What is going on?” Kane asked. Korra didn’t know what reply to give to the general; what was happening and what was about to go down wasn’t something she could sum up in one sentence. “We need to evacuate this place… immediately,” Korra replied. “Evacuate? How serious is the problem that we have to evacuate?” “There is no time to explain, sir. I have already requested for help; we need to get everyone out as soon as possi—” before Korra could finish her statement, there were loud crashes in several locations. Everyone's attention was turned to the loud explosions. There was dust in the air where the explosions had taken place, but soon around twenty figures could be seen walking out of the dust-covered area. Some of these figures raised their hands and fired out what seemed like bullets. The metal on the droids' bodies had been fired out really fast and met with the soldiers that were in the front. These droids' targets were on point as they hit the soldiers on the forehead, killing them instantly. Korra began to panic, but she felt relieved when she looked up and could see three large military airships approaching their base. “Everyone, listen! This is not a war we can fight today. Save yourselves now, and we can fight when we are more prepared,” Korra shouted. Korra knew firsthand what these droids could do, so she wasn't willing to gamble, especially with the lives of soldiers. That was why she asked for help before coming to the General. Korra had sounded a warning, but no one was giving her listening ears. They were not trained like that, and they were ready to fight even without knowing what kind of enemy they were going up against. General Kane looked to the area where the explosions had occurred. He could see his men dying; he looked to the other side of the field and could see that the large air ships had landed.
