I was having a nightmare, there was no other explanation. There was no way that the twins were related to Agatha and David. I couldn't be that unlucky. The twins weren't taking their eyes off me and I was feeling worse by the second. The only thing I knew for certain was that I needed to get out of there as fast as I possibly could. I would stay away for the rest of the weekend and return on Monday. The twins would be gone and I'd be safe again.
"I'm glad you already know my nephews." Amelia had clearly directed the statement to me.
"We are glad she knows us too." the twin on my right responded as he glanced at her.
"Brendon, how do you like the food?" David asked in an attempt to change the subject.
"It tastes wonderful. No one cooks better than Aunt Agatha." the twin on my right responded, but this time his eyes didn't leave me.
"Brandon, what about you?" David asked the other one.
"I have to agree with Bren, Aunt Agatha is the best." the one on my left agreed with his brother.
The rest of dinner was spent in silence. As soon as everyone was done eating and the twins stood, I quickly stood up too. I was still trapped between the two of them with no escape. I heard Agatha's footsteps heading in the direction of the kitchen and took my chance. I quickly grabbed the twins and my plates and chased behind Agatha. She started the dishwater in the kitchen as I returned to gather the rest of the dishes off the table. I set the dishes on the counter and walked over to Agatha.
"I will get the dishes tonight, go spend time with your nephews and have a good time." I said softly beside her.
"Amelia, are you sure?" she asked.
"Yes, they are only here for the weekend. Go have fun." I responded just as quietly as before.
She smiled and walked out of the kitchen. I grabbed a sponge and started to wash the dishes after I heard laughter from the direction of the living room. My thoughts soon held me captive. I had the name of the twins but it didn't do me any good. Cade and his father had already decided that I was a willing participant in the events that had occurred, so they wouldn't listen even if I tried to report them. Even if I could report them, Agatha and David had taken me in and helped me so much in the past three months that it wouldn't be fair of me to do that to Agatha. It would break her heart to find out the truth about her nephews and I couldn't do that after everything she had done for me.
"Look at you, you already know your place and being subservient. You are being such a good girl tonight." one of the twins whispered in my ear and caused my body to go stiff.
"Please." I managed to whimper as I closed my eyes tight.
"You even already know your manners. You are definitely going to be fun. Be a good girl for the remainder of this visit because when Bren and I leave we are taking you with us. Now, finish the dishes." he whispered, no louder than before.
I shook my head as I heard his footsteps retreating into the living room. I had to make my escape tonight. I would jump out the window after Agatha and David went to bed. The window hadn't been opened since I had been staying here, so I would have to wait about thirty minutes after they went to bed before I could open it up to climb out. As soon as I got free I would go and spend the remainder of the weekend at the lake. My safe place could protect me, I just had to get there.
I finished the dishes quickly and retreated to the bedroom. As soon as the door shut behind me, I reached back and realized the door didn't have a lock on it. This was all the more reason that I had to escape and stay away for the weekend. I sat on the side of the bed and waited to hear Agatha and David go to their room. It seemed to be a long while before their footsteps could be heard going to their room. I started to count the minutes as I waited for thirty minutes to pass by. The time passed by slowly and the house was silent, so I got up and went to the window. I was ready to make my escape.
I opened the curtains and the blinds quietly and then pulled up on the window. The window didn't budge, it was stuck. I pulled up even harder and it still wouldn't move. The bedroom door swung open at that time and in the doorway stood Brendon. My heart started to race and I was still pointlessly trying to open the window. Tears sprang to my eyes as he walked into the room, he had me cornered. It became painstakingly obvious that the only escape was the doorway behind him, but Brandon was standing there also. Brendon started to take a few steps into the room, he never took his eyes off me and he was smirking the whole time.
"You wouldn't be trying to escape would you?" his voice was low and slightly harsh.
I was terrified and cowered down in the corner of the room. I wanted him to leave and to leave me alone. I didn't want him and his brother to take me when they left, I didn't want to be anywhere near them. There was nothing I could do. He glanced at the window and started to chuckle softly. He reached out and grabbed my arm to pull me face to face with him.
"We figured you would try to escape. We took all the precautions necessary as soon as we picked up on your scent." his voice was cold and mocking.
"We can't risk our girl running off into the night by herself. You never know what's lurking in those woods." Brandon said from the doorway.
Tears started to pour down my cheeks and they both started to laugh quietly. Brendon pulled me over to the bed and sat me down on the side. Brandon walked in and they both sat down next to me, one on either side. Brandon grabbed my other arm and leaned over to take a deep scent of my hair. A small moan seemed to escape as he exhaled. Brendon took my hand into his and sat there playing with my fingers and all I could do was sit there and cry. After a time, they both got up and Brandon pushed me over on the bed, forcing me to lay down.
"Get some rest. We have big plans for tomorrow." Brandon smiled as he looked down at me.
"Don't try to sneak out the front door, remember we are just in the living room and we will hear every move you make." Brendon had a look of warning in his eyes before he turned around and walked away.
They walked out and left me alone that night. The door closed quietly behind them and I knew I was trapped. There was no escape for me. I couldn't bring myself to break the window either, because I knew how hard it would be for Agatha and David to replace it. I could find my escape some other way. I couldn't break Agatha's heart by telling her the truth about what was really going on with her nephews. I lay there wide awake for the rest of the night, frozen in fear of the twins coming back into the room. Finally, I heard Agathas' quiet footsteps heading towards the front of the house. I was still too scared to leave the room, so I continued to just lay there.
Soon enough, I heard quiet laughter coming from the direction of the living room. Sunlight was starting to peek through the window by the time I heard David walking down the hallway. I knew Agatha would be getting ready to make breakfast soon but I didn't want to have to sit in the same room as the twins. I heard footsteps again that stopped right outside the bedroom door. My heart was pounding in my chest and I clamped my eyes closed just as the door swung open. The footsteps quietly approached the side of the bed and then there was a dip where the person sat next to me.
"I know you're awake, you can come join us now. You were very good to wait for permission to come into the living room. I may just have to reward you later for being so good so far." it was one of the twins.
"Open your eyes, it's time to get up." the other twin had snuck in.
I closed my eyes as tight as I could and turned my face away from them. Tears had started to stream down my face. I wished that they would just leave and let me be alone. I couldn't say anything to them, even if I had anything to say, my voice was caught in my throat. One of them grabbed my wrist and held it tight as they started to tug on me. I tried to pull away but their grip was too strong.
"There goes your reward, you aren't being good anymore." one of them said.
"Keep this up and we will have to punish you." the other one said right after.
A whimper escaped my lips and reluctantly I opened my eyes. I looked over to realize it was Brendon that was sitting on the side of the bed and holding my wrist. He pulled on me once more before he stood up. I reluctantly got up and followed them out of the room towards the front of the house. Agatha was already in the kitchen preparing breakfast for everyone and David was sitting in the living room reading a paper. The twins looked at me and smiled knowingly and I looked straight down at the floor.
"Go help Aunt Agatha in the kitchen. Be good." Brendon whispered in my ear.
I took off to the kitchen to help Agatha cook. I would take any excuse I could to be away from them. Agatha and I had got used to cooking together in the past few months, so it was nice to fall into our normal patterns. As soon as breakfast was done, I started working on setting the table. I set all the food up in the center of the table so that it would be easily accessible to everyone. Agatha had gone to the living room to let the guys know that the food was ready. As they all came and sat down at the table, I went back into the kitchen and got all the drinks and sat them down in front of everyone. Everyone had sat down and the only seat left available was between the twins.
Reluctantly, I sat down and stared at my plate. I refused to make eye contact with either of the twins. Everyone fixed their plates and I finally started to put a few things on my plate, but I still had no appetite. They were all talking with each other and laughing while I stayed quiet and forced myself to eat what I had. I glanced up at Agatha to see she was smiling at me, so I quickly looked back down at my plate. The entire time we were sitting at the table, I could not force myself to even glance at either of the twins. I could feel their eyes on me and I didn't want to risk looking into their eyes, so I continued to stare at my plate.
All of a sudden, it felt like there was a hand on my left knee. I looked down and, sure enough, Brendon had put his hand on my knee. The blood drained from my face and I felt nauseated and dizzy. I tried to pull my knee away from his touch but he gripped my knee tighter and held it in place. I discreetly moved my hand under the table and attempted to pry his hand off my knee. He tightened his grip on my knee to the point that it actually started to hurt. I bit my lips together to keep from yelping from the pain and then I lowered my head and put both my hands back on the table.
Brendon was satisfied that I had given up and released his grip. He started rubbing his hand up and down the inside of my leg and my body tensed in response. After a moment, there was no denying that Brandon had started to rub his leg against my other leg under the table and I pulled my leg away from him. All of a sudden, Brendon's grip tightened again and he reached over to push my leg back closer to his brother and then put his hand back on my other leg. The twins had me perfectly trapped between them. I knew I had to come up with a plan to escape but my best shot had already been destroyed.
As soon as breakfast was done, the twins stood up and I stood up right after. I started to gather the dishes off the table and take them to the kitchen. Everyone else walked to the living room after Agatha made sure I didn't need any help. I took my time washing the breakfast dishes. I wanted it to last as long as possible. I knew that as soon as I was done washing the dishes I would be forced to spend time with the twins and that was the last thing I wanted to do. There was no excuse for me to just randomly leave today and I couldn't just hide out in the room either. If I was going to be forced to spend time with the twins, I would make sure that it was at least in front of people.
"Hurry up and finish the dishes. We require your presence in the living room." Brendon was the one that whispered in my ear today.
His footsteps quickly retreated after the words were spoken. I looked around and saw that I didn't have many dishes anyway, so I finished the last few before slowly walking to the living room. When I reached the living room, I glanced around and saw them all smiling and laughing with each other. The twins were at each end of the couch with a space left between them while David sat in the chair with Agatha perched on the arm of it. Dread filled me and I wanted to turn around and run. I almost did. Just as I took a couple of steps backwards, Agatha looked in my direction. I froze as I noticed the smile that lit up her face, there was no longer a chance to sneak away from this scene.
"Amelia, there you are. Come sit with us." she requested softly but I couldn't refuse her.
"Yes ma'am." I replied as I forced myself to walk forward at a normal pace.
I sat in the only space left available and saw that Agatha smiled even brighter. The twins both moved slightly closer to me and the conversation they had been having resumed. I couldn't focus on anything they were saying because I had to control every breath that I took. Everything was blocked out except for the fact I was sitting between the two people that had taken everything from me and there was nothing I could do. I had come to think of Agatha as a mother figure to me and I couldn't handle breaking her heart with the truth. Even if I was to speak up, no one would believe anything I said. My own mate called me a liar and kicked me to the street, so how could I expect anyone else to believe what I had to say about it? We sat in the living room for the rest of the day with everyone around me talking normally.
The time was ticking by slowly, I was allowed to get up to go make snacks for everyone at lunch time. I had made little finger sandwiches and as soon as I set them on the coffee table, Brendon pulled me down to sit back on the couch between him and Brandon. The conversation never seemed to die down and everyone seemed a little surprised when Agatha announced it was time to cook dinner. I jumped up and walked hurriedly into the kitchen to help with dinner. I had made it there before Agatha and was pulling out everything we would need to cook.
The two of us cooked in silence. She was cooking steaks for everyone tonight. Steaks were David's favorite food, so this was going to be his celebratory dinner. She pulled the steaks out of the fridge that she had been marinating all day and I started to work on the washing and cutting the potatoes. Agatha put the steaks in her skillet on the stove as I started seasoning the potatoes to get them ready to fry. The last thing we had to cook was the green beans. Agatha took care of those while I made sure to set the table. Not long after I got done filling the glasses, Agatha took the food to the table and called in all the guys. We all took the seats that we had got accustomed to and started to fill our plates with food.
"Aunt Agatha, you make the best steaks." Brendon told her as he stuffed a bite of the meat into his mouth.
"Thank you." she responded to him as she took a sip of her drink.
"Thank you for cooking this." David smiled and patted her hand before taking a bite himself.
"Amelia helped a lot." Agatha beamed at me.
"I hardly did anything." I looked up, shocked that she would say that.
"Don't be modest, you have been doing most of everything since yesterday." she complimented me again.
I looked back down and hoped that the subject would soon change. I didn't like them all paying attention to me and I didn't want the twins to get too many ideas. I could feel all their eyes on me. There was never a time I had wished to be invisible but I was wishing for it now. Brendon put his hand on my knee again like he had at breakfast, but this morning's experience proved to me that I couldn't discreetly get him to leave me alone. The blood drained from my face and then there was Brandon's leg touching my leg. My whole body went stiff from the discomfort they were causing me, but they didn't care. I would have to sit there and endure it. Everyone had started talking about some other subject, so thankfully my discomfort at least wasn't the center of attention.
David was the first one to finish eating that night and he leaned back in his chair while he continued to enjoy the conversation. The twins' touch was still causing me discomfort, so I was eating slower than everyone else. They didn't seem to mind as they sat there and continued their conversation while I finished my food. It felt like they all had their eyes on me even though they were talking about something completely different. When I finally finished, the twins stood up and I reflexively stood up right after them again. It was becoming our habit, it seemed, but at least they weren't touching me any more. I started gathering dishes as they all walked into the living room.
It seemed like Agatha had got used to me cleaning up after meals. She was the first one to leave the dining room. I was grateful the twins were going to be in a different room after I had been forced to spend the whole day sitting between the two of them. Them being in the living room gave me a chance to finally breathe and let myself cry silently. They were planning on leaving tomorrow and I remembered Brandon's threat from the first night they had come. They planned on taking me with them. I let out a sigh as I finally started washing the dishes. Not long after I started, I heard footsteps as someone came closer to me.
"What have you been doing? You have barely touched the dishes, hurry up. You are wanted in the living room with us." the harsh voice whispered in my ear.
He still stood close to me and I ended up fumbling with one of the glasses in the sink. As the glass fell back into the water, he stepped closer. I closed my eyes and turned my face away from him. I didn't want to see him. I felt him as he pressed closer to me and my body froze immediately. His grip on my wrist wasn't unexpected, so it didn't get much of a reaction out of me. When he saw he wasn't getting what he wanted by simply grabbing my wrist, he moved his hand up to my chin and grabbed it between his thumb and fingers before twisting my head to look at him. I still had my eyes closed so I couldn't see the look on his face, but I felt his eyes as he glared daggers at me.
"You've been in here crying? You have no reason to be crying, so I expect these dishes to be finished and spotless in ten minutes. Once you are done with the dishes you had better join us in the living room with a dry face." his words were harsh as he angrily threw my face out of his hands.
I heard his footsteps walking away from me and finally opened my eyes. I reached down and picked up the glass I had previously dropped and finished washing it. His words had scared me, so I quickly washed through the rest of the dishes and made sure that my cheeks and eyes were dry before taking a deep breath. I slowly walked into the living room and stood off to the side for a moment contemplating my options. The only choice I felt like I had was to go sit in the same spot I had been all day, right in the middle of the twins. I knew if I ran to my room it would make them mad and I was so scared that I wasn't sure what would happen if I did that. With a quiet sigh of defeat, I walked over and sat down between Brendon and Brandon.
"I think we would like to go for a walk with Amelia." Brendon said after I had been sitting there for a little bit.
"Of course, I think that's a wonderful idea." Agatha couldn't contain her enthusiasm.
The twins stood up together and grabbed my hands. I stood up with them. I saw this as an opportunity to plan an escape. It would be much easier to get away from them once we were out of the house. They walked towards the door while still holding my hands and I obediently followed them. As soon as we were outside, I tried pulling my hands away from them but they only held on tighter. I could be patient and wait for my perfect chance. They started pulling me towards one of the most populated areas.
"Amelia?" there was an all too familiar voice behind me.
"Cade?" I turned around.
Cade looked at me and then he looked at the twins on either side of me. His eyes fell back on my face and then went down my body. He looked at my hands intertwined with the twins. I pulled my hand away from the twins and this time they let me go. Cade's face fell as he looked back at my face. I took a step towards him and he stepped backwards. My heart ached and I was filled with agony. The twins were still standing slightly behind me but they had let me go. I was too mesmerized by seeing Cade to even think about running away from them. Cade would surely see now that I had been telling the truth and he would save me.
"You have a lot of nerve. I rejected you and now here you are with them." Cade's words were like venom.
"That is not by choice." I said.
" Don't look that way, you looked fine holding hands with them." he spat the words at me.
"Don't talk to our Amelia that way." Brendon had stepped up beside me and was making matters worse.
"You're Amelia?" Cade asked incredulously.
"Yes, our Amelia. She is ours." Brandon chimed in to help his brother.
"I am not!" I screamed.
"You can have her, she didn't care enough about the mate bond when she was my mate anyways." Cade said and rolled his eyes.
"I do care about the mate bond, please Cade, just listen to me." I was pleading.
"You obviously didn't! You ran off and whored around with these two immediately after finding your mate." his words were a slap in the face.
I was stunned as I looked at him, he wouldn't even give me a chance to explain anything. He glared at me as if he wished I was dead. The twins walked up and they each grabbed one of my hands. It felt like I had been stabbed in the heart with Cade staring at me the way he was. I had never betrayed the mate bond but he refused to believe me and there was nothing I could do to make him see the truth. He had caught me in a compromising position tonight but I had been looking for an escape. All the courage I had evaporated from my body after the assault of Cade's words. There was nothing I could say to make it any better or to make him believe me.
"It's time to say your farewells babe." Brendon leaned down and said in my ear loud enough for Cade to hear.
"Let's go, you get to leave this place and come home with us tomorrow." Brandon added fuel to the fire.
Cade rolled his eyes before he turned around and walked away from us. I had gone numb and lost all hope after seeing Cade tonight. The last bit of hope I had that he would save me evaporated and left me feeling alone. His reaction only proved that no one cared and he left me with the impression he would be better off without me. The twins started pulling me back in the direction of the house. They knew the last of my resolve had been dissolved by that one chance meeting, so they didn't even bother to tighten their grip on my hands again.
