Chapter 8 New Life

1225 Words
That night everyone went to bed as soon as we had returned to Agatha and Davids, but I spent another sleepless night lost in thought. I couldn't think about anything other than what all Cade had said to me, the way he had treated me. My mind was still numb, and my body wasn't even under my control, it was like I was paralyzed. Cade acted like he couldn't even stand the sight of me; his actions made me feel like he thought I was nothing more than a pariah. The sun finally rose, and I still hadn't moved out of bed, even after I heard everyone else moving around in the living room. The air carried the scent of bacon into the room, and I still couldn't get my body to move around. It was like my whole body shut down. The numbness had started in my mind before it worked itself down to my heart and then it had radiated out to my whole body. I had no feelings and even my mind had finally gone blank. I didn't even pretend to be asleep, nor did I flinch when my bedroom door finally opened up to reveal the twins standing in the doorway. "Time to wake up." Brendon said as he walked into the room with Brandon right behind him. "It's time to eat breakfast and then we will pack your things for you before we leave." Brandon said as he grabbed my hand. Brendon grabbed my other hand as they pulled me up, I didn't even bother to fight them. They led me to the dining room table and set a plate of bacon, toast, and eggs in front of me. I didn't even have an appetite, so I just sat there and stared at the plate. Everyone around me had picked up their forks and started eating but I couldn't move my hand to even touch the fork. The voices of everyone else in the room were drifting around me but I couldn't focus on a single word being said. I was in a room full of people and yet I felt completely alone against the world. "Pick up your fork and eat, don't be rude to Aunt Agatha." Brendon whispered in my ear. I wasn't sure why, but those words allowed me to move my hand. I picked up my fork and started to eat the food. I couldn't taste any of it and I could only nibble on little bites at a time, but it was movement. Everyone kept on talking and I still couldn't focus so I sat there and ate in silence. I was the last one to finish eating but their voices never quit floating in the air around me. The twin's laughter fell on my ears as they stood up and for the first time, I didn't jump up right after them. They scooted their chairs under the table and Brandon grabbed my hand. "Clean up and then meet us in your room to gather your bags." he whispered after he leaned down into my ear. Without responding, I slowly got up and started gathering the dishes. I carried the dishes to the sink and started to wash them absent mindedly. It was such a routine chore that I didn't even have to think about it thankfully. The dishes were done before I even realized I had washed them, so it was time to return to the bedroom. I had no fight left in me; I hadn't realized that I had been holding on to the hope that Cade would still save me but as soon as he dismissed me last night it hit like a ton of bricks. I walked into the room and saw that the twins had already packed up everything that was mine. "There you are!" Brandon's exclaimed when they look up and saw me. "Let's get ready, we have a long ride back home." Brendon said when he looked at me. Brandon grabbed the bags off the bed and he and Brendon both started to walk towards me. Brendon grabbed my hand, and they led me out the door. Agatha and David were waiting for us by the front door when we entered the living room and Agatha looked like she had tears in her eyes. The twins both hugged Agatha tightly and kissed her cheek before they shook David's hand. Agatha walked up to me last and hugged me closely, by this time she had tears running down her cheeks. David came over and hugged me just as tightly as Agatha had and I somehow managed to hug them back. "Take care of her." Agatha said as she looked at the twins. "We will." Brandon told her as Brendon was looking at me. "If only she hadn't run into her mate, she wouldn't have to leave." she looked over at David. "As soon as she's responsive you have her call us." David told them as he wrapped his arms around Agatha to console her. "I promise." Brendon was the one that answered this time. "Get her out of here so she can get better." David looked like even he was about to start crying. Brendon grabbed my hand again and followed Brandon out of the house. Sitting in front of the house was a black jeep liberty. The twins threw my bags in the very back before strapping me into the backseat. Both Brendon and Brandon climbed into the front before we took off, leaving Agatha and David standing in front of their house waving at us. The drive went by in a blur, and I wasn't even sure which direction we left in. The ride was spent in complete silence, they didn't even turn on the radio. It was well after nightfall before we finally pulled up and stopped at what looked like a mansion. "Home sweet home." Brendon smiled as they got out of the car. "Come on, time to go see where you will be staying." Brandon remarked as he opened my door and drug me out of the back seat. They took me into the house and straight up a set of stairs. I didn't see any of the rest of the house, the first place they took me was a bedroom. Brandon walked me over to the bed and sat me down with Brendon following close behind him. Brendon finished laying me down and he even took my shoes off me before covering me up with the blanket. They both sat there for just a little bit before letting out a sigh and walking to the door. "Get some rest, it will help you feel better." Brendon said as they left. They turned off the light before leaving the room and I heard them lock the door. I closed my eyes and laid there listening for any sound at all, the silence was deafening. I had given up and there was no point in fighting what had been my fears. I would have to get used to my new life with the twins, being whatever, it was they wanted. I hadn't slept in two nights so that night sleep came pretty easy for me. It wasn't long and I was slumbering in a deep dreamless sleep. The following morning my new life would begin.
