CHAPTER 1 : Saved By Him
Chasing my breath, the pain stabs, stinging the sole of my feet as I quickly rushed to the forest. Adrenaline ran down my spine, anxiously trying to look back, terror continuously filled me when I saw her just a bit inches away from me.
“Run Chandria! Run like a coward dog !” Her laugh echoed in the middle of the night, my heart was beating so fast. Who would’ve thought that she’ll go this far just to get what she wants, even if we were sisters, or more likely to say, we were twins?
When I stumbled, I fell onto the dirty ground, my white dress was covered by mud, and my face slumped onto the sticky liquid.
“Why are you kept running away from me, my dearest Chandria?”
I bit my lip. Her voice was pure evil yet calmed, like someone possessed by a demon. Trying to lift myself, I manage to sit to face her, my bare feet hurt, as well as my leg was wrenched but I endured it, looking her straight in the eyes instead.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked.
Her forehead automatically creased, but later on, faded as a sinister smile popped out of her cheeks.
“Do you not know huh?”
“You don’t have to do this, Chantal.” I calmly replied, but deep inside I was trembling in fear of what she can be able to do. I can’t trust her anymore. She betrayed me more than a tenth time, and I know this moment is never an exemption.
We will be turning eighteen tomorrow. Everyone was so excited but me? Not. Aside from the celebration of our eighteenth birthday, tomorrow will also be announced who among us will be Alpha Primo’s chosen Luna.
“I can’t feel anything on Alpha Primo.” Taken aback when Chantal speaks again.
“I’m not his mate.” She continued and glared at me. “And I know it’s you, right?”
My forehead slowly creased.
“What are you talking about? How could you say that when our wolves aren’t coming out yet?” I shot back and lied.
“Yes, maybe you’re right. But I should feel something, like a string tied onto him that could trigger his wolf if I’m his true mate.”
“You should wait until tomorrow, Chantal. Don’t take lead to events that haven’t happened yet.”
“And what if I’m right? And you are his mate?”
“I can’t let that happen, Chandria.”
“I will never let my twin sister have the Alpha.” She added and walk towards me fast, with her reflexes, it wasn’t hard for her to do that. Between us, I’m the weak.
Her tight hands surround my neck, filling the gap between them. I closed my eyes as I feel I would run out of air.
“No matter how I wanted to kill you, I will not. Because you’re still my sister you know?” Her lips lifted grinning widely, while I’m still trying to cope with my breathing.
“But I’ll do everything for the Alpha Primo to choose me, and not you.” She growled, while my hands try to stop her from choking me my eyes slowly widened seeing her pull out a silver knife in her left hand. I tried to shake my head as tears started cascading down my cheeks when the silver weapon slowly get closer to my cheeks.
“C-Chantal.” My eyes were just settled on the silver knife, too terrifying to see as it reflected with the light of the moon.
“We were twins, so basically, your face is the same as mine. But there’s only one Luna destined for the Alpha, we both knew that and I’ll make sure, it will be me.” As the evil grin flashed on her face, my hope slowly fades. My sister went insane.
I closed my eyes, as I don’t want her to see how feared I was. My hands were trembling as I waited for the silver weapon to touch my skin. Tears kept on moving, as the pain slowly maneuvered on my left cheek. It was unbearable, tormenting, and nerve-racking. I can’t help myself but cry in agony, helpless and pathetic.
“P-please, C-Chantal. I-I’m your sister.” I begged, but the only thing that manifested was her evilness, as the warm blood now covering my face started dripping down to my dirty clothes, tainting them. My lips trembled in pain, as I can’t visualize her face anymore.
“If you’re ugly now. I’m sure the alpha will never even dare to look at you.” She laughed as she removed her tight grip on my neck, finally letting me breathe.
“Don’t you dare tell our parents that I was the one who did that, or else, expect the worst from me?” She menaced once more, locking her gaze at me merciless, before turning her back, and walking away like she didn’t do something terrible.
As soon as she vanished from my field of vision, I tried to drag myself next to the flowing river. I can’t stand, my feet were sprained, and my knees were still weak. I have no choice but to crawl pathetically, as tears continued to manifest, the smell of my blood was sticking to my nostrils.
The light of the moon gives me reflection onto the clear water, pity for me is the only thing I can feel as soon as I saw my face, covered with blood. My hands were still trembling as I tried to fetch water and wash my face. I flinched in agony when my hands touch my skin, it was like my flesh was contradicting to be washed up.
The silence filled with my cries, and I just hope no one sees me at this moment.
I stopped when my vision started to blur, my head started aching. I just found myself twisting in pain right next to the river, only the sound of the running water, and my murmurs could be heard. At one point, I had the chance to face and stare at the bright moon with tears in my eyes, hoping that what happened was just a nightmare. Until my eyelids pulls each other together, but before I got out of consciousness, I felt someone’s presence nearing me. I’m too weak to open my eyes no matter how I wanted to do so as I felt warm arms surround my legs and body, slowly lifting me.
That smell, I don’t want to assume but there’s only one werewolf I knew that proposes a scent of dominance and superiority. Despite being weak, I could feel our mate bond growing stronger, this isn’t the first time, because there’s only one werewolf who could make me feel this, and right at the moment, my desire was influencing me, a yearning that tomorrow, everything will change when I woke up.
Because at this moment, I’m in the arms of Primo, the alpha of our pack and the werewolf who could make my heart beat insanely.
