“WHAT DID YOU think of our neighbors, Ted?” Chris said when they were in the car and on the way to St. Vincent’s.
“They talked funny, but I liked them.”
“Talked funny, how?”
“They like to finish each other’s sentences.”
“Yes, they do, and they seem to get a kick out of correcting each other.”
“Where are we going now?” Ted said.
“To the hospital so I can sign some paperwork. If he’s free, I’ll introduce you to my boss.”
“Okay.”
“I forgot to ask you if you like to read,” Chris said.
“Yes, Sir, I do—it’s my favorite thing.”
“Then would you like to stop by the library on the way home?”
“Could we, please?”
