A summons to Greenwich palace to see the king who is anxious to speak with me. I alight from the barge at Greenwich on a hot morning with my attendants and the ever present, ever faithful Mrs. Ellen. The water of the Thames is glistening with a thousand myriad lights as the morning sun hits it and few people are abroad. I hand my personal effects to Mrs. Ellen who carries them for me as we are escorted by guards to the inner sanctum of the palace. Before we get there however we are met by a tall man in a dark coloured cloak who introduces himself as a personal secretary to the Duke of Northumberland who tells me that he has been sent to escort me first, to the Duke"s privy chamber.
